The mailman delivered today my new 253 from Andrew and a strap from Banda so I am a happy camper. It is funny how small this watch seems after wearing the 47mm 232 for a couple weeks. My wrist is kind of big so it still works. I must say that this is a beautiful watch. I just love it. My watchsmith is a smartass though and when I asked him if he could tell the difference from the gen, he said he could not "if he was looking from an airplane". Oh well what can you expect from someone who wants you to purchase their goods.
I just ordered a python strap from TC, which will make for an exotic look. This is really getting interesting
m TC,
Before I found this website I purchased reps which were all in fine condition. The first rep I got here (two more are on the way ) the dial had a scratch on it. I contacted the seller who has sent me a new dial which should arrive any day. The fact that I have to pay a watchsmith to replace the dial for me is softened by the excellent customer service the dealer provided. I know it was not his fault. It seems like you may have been a little unlucky, however it seems to me that the dealers here will take care of you if there is a problem with the watch.
This is a dilemma I have experienced and have found that just being upfront is the best way. I told my wife that this is now my hobby and passion. I am not spending tens of thousands on real watches, but hundreds on repklicas which are so damn close to the genuine article that it is just downright exciting This appoach has worked for me (I think) and maybe it will for you too. Good luck
I see you are from Finland. My Dad is from Nykarleby and we still have a farm there as well as a beach house. I am there every second summer. Now we are even more off topic
Kansai power baby!
Indeed! Kyoto rocks and I will be spending some time there also. I am glad I asked this question here as it will save me valuable time. Domo Arigato !
Thanks, Osaka is a great city. I love the food there and it is fun to cruise around at night. I appreciate the tip, and have to agree with you that there are great dealers here that are hard to beat.
I live and work in Vegas at Caesars and am constantly in the T shop. This is partly what fuels my watch collcting bug. It is amazing to see how close many of the reps are to the real deal.
Tough choice, found myself with the same comparison debate and decided on the new 253 with the 7750 and AR coating. The aesthetics of the watch are just more appealing to me. Now I have to convince my wife to let me buy my second Panerai within two weeks, but that is another matter altogether.
In two weeks I will be going to Japan and although I have been there many times, I have never looked for rep watches there. Now, thanks to this new feeding frenzy called rep collecting I want to ask if anyone has any experience buying reps in Japan? Osaka is the major city I will be close to and would appreciate any suggestions . Thanks.
Rolli,
I just received in the mail the very same watch, It is a great looking Pam, however your work done on the lugs improves it even more. Your watchsmith did a great job. I think the watchsmith I have is pretty good, if I give my 232 to him with photos of what you did, should it be easily done or do I need to supply him with the materials as you suggest?
By the way, Paul from WoMart did get back to me and answered all of my emails. It took a week but better late than never. He said that he does not accept Paypal any longer, so cash is the only way to do business with him. I much prefer to use a charge for obvious reasons, so with that thought and the testimonials to Pauls upstanding reputation, I will consider it further
