  1. Yes Craytonic, silly bastards are everywhere, but what can you do? Just shrug and say "there goes another silly bastard"
  2. Welcome Corgi. Great avatar, God Bless America
  3. There are very few US based dealers with good reputations, with the exception of those who have been approved by this forum. Much rersearch has gone into providing the supporters of RWG with reliable dealers, so stick with them and your collecting hobby will be all the better.
  4. If you look at how long the "old timers' have been here, it is not much more than a few months to a year if stretching it, so from my point of view, just about everyone in this forum is a noob. So what? There are many personalities and skins , some thick , some thin, there are elitists, know-it-alls, knee jerk twits, well meaning watch enthusiasts, technically proficient wizards, and an assortment of interesting people that make this a cool place to spend time for rep collectors. Take it all with a grain of salt and don't let off the cuff comments bother you. For all you know the writer could have just fired up a bowl of crank and is determined to pen 40 paragraphs aimed at your well intended comment. Don't worry about it and follow shabbers post. Good advice indeed.
  5. Those are killer straps V. A good black strap seems to be a search. I just got a black sharkskin from Elliot and like it quite a lot.
  6. Dr. No, welcome to RWG and remember, never say 'pussy' again.
  7. Welcome to RWG. Two excellent choices right off the bat. You will go far in this place.
  8. You must have one of the most spectacular pam collections. Good work and much to be proud of.
  9. It is a good looking dress watch, but also a bit small for me. Take a look at the Chopard Alfa Romeo. Thats a great looking watch.
  10. Welcome from another Detroit expatriot You are in the right place and the Bentley is a great looking watch. It was my first rep, but I paid too much as this place was not yet on my radar. So, read and read some more and then pick a dealer. The best are here.
  11. This is certainly one of the more interesting threads lately and thanks to Omega-Reign for a lively intelligent rebuttal to some of the opinions here. You are correct in that purchasers of reps cannot have it both ways, and I applaud your analogy. It is understandable that there will be annoyed observers who discover sellers offering reps as genuines. It goes against principles of decency to be sure, but hey, [censored] happens and it will continue to happen. I don't know that playing 'policeman' and reporting every perceived or alleged offence is the answer, but to each his own. I say buyer beware and if some clodhopper is enough of an idiot to buy a rep as a gen then he deserves the outcome.
  12. That is a beautiful watch. Enjoy it.
  13. The 232 just became available and I saw one at the Tourneau store. The dial is a deep tobacco brown and the dial on the rep is smoky black, you can see the difference looking closely but otherwise it is a good copy. When I got this watch it had a scratch on the dial and Andrew sent me a brand new watch to compensate however the replacement was DOA, which worked out as Andrew said to just keep it and use it for spare parts. What a great guy he is. What I would like to do is take the dial out, get it lumed and perhaps dyed dark brown. Is this feasible? I have not noticed it being done and would like to know opinions about this. Thanks.
  14. Get well soon Neil, and if that photo on your avatar is really you. then you had better get a different Doctor and fast.
  15. Try using the spellcheck button from time to time.
  16. Welcome to RWG. Hit the search button and you will find many reviews on Trustytime. All good. I have purchased several watches from Andrew at Trusty and he is a stellar dealer and a great guy. Buy from him and you will see. Good luck and have fun.
  17. Hola, Welcome, you will enjoy RWG. Your part of the world is quite beautiful. I have friends who are artists from Asturias. This is a fun place, however be careful, it can cost a bit of money. Temptations are many with the great dealers we have here.
  18. Supply and demand. Both will always survive providing the demand is equal to or greater than the supply.
  19. I had this one in the box for awhile, and Elliots great sale on straps brought it out again. The lines on the 232 sure are clean.
  20. Funny thing that bit of info, having thought about it myself, I always noticed that watch ads were at 10:08 and concluded using the very same logic described in your post. What a good thing common sense is!
  21. Today, a Radiomir 232 with TC ostrich strap. Merry Christmas RWG !
  22. Oh yes, I have infected many with the rep bug. it is a highly contagious virus for which there is no known cure.
