Develop and sell my own line of nuclear powered EDP's (Electric Dog Polishers) to wet widowed women... And part-time I'm the owner of a hedge fund and technology/intellectual property solutions company that develops trading systems for institutions and larger hedge funds...

I just got off the phone with Lani. Finally he was able to tell me in detail what he went through. Out of respect for his privacy I will not share the details, but suffice it to say that he has really been through the ringer and is a lucky, lucky man to be alive. He is getting excellent care, which is of course is really important when you have a meltdown situation like that. His spirits seem good although he is very drained and slow to speak. It is kind of weird hearing him sound like that. But I can tell you that I know him well and the "light" is definitely there inside him now if you know what I mean. I now believe he is really on the mend and will make a full and relatively speedy recovery. At least that is how I feel it as of today. So you all please put your energy toward that thought and let's multiply it for him just to be thorough. Send him the positive vibes if you believe in that kind of thing. Other than all that I can tell you that he even said he is motivated to get his laptop into the hospital so he can get back to the forum and read his press. LOL. Just kidding, but him being motivated to log on is another good sign. He asked me to give everyone his regards and said he will try and come around when he can and give you all an update in person. So all in all, I would say this is the best news on bruddah Lani yet. Stay tuned...

Update. There apparently was no hard crossover date for coatings best I can tell. They have had both for some time and use them on different watches for different reasons which have changed over the years. The black dialed watches supposedly get the tinted and the lighter dialed watches now get the colorless. Of course this is all according to a distribution guy and may or may not be 100% accurate. So you just never know.

Thanks man. Trying little by little to make a recovery of some kind but it isn't easy. I'll keep posting when I can. Thanks for noticeing...

These two today...

Nothing new - but then a need for new is hardly felt when I'm wearing this one...

Nice review. I was just wearing mine today in fact and happend to stop by. I suppose it only is fitting I chime in and again sing the praises of this piece being a fairly significant-time owner of several UN's by now. Hey, as an aside, interesting that your AR has the blue hue and is an older case number. I guess later case numbers (but I don't know at what number they started) got the colorless AR which Chief confirms is the same as what he is using. The funny thing about some of the Divers is that an older case number might eist as NOS for a while bouncing around between distributors and dealers. My case number is in the 6000's and I think there are just over 7000 out now to date. Meanwhile my Dual Time is also a newer case number and it has the blue hue AR. Although on that one I prefer it as it is a black dial and the tint even slight makes it really pop and look more black. Anyway, if you check out my MMD thread and find the "angle" shot you will see how the colorless looks. It does make the dial look a bit different in a lot of lighting conditions. Almost like two different watches depending on the AR. I'll take two. And to keep good company here is mine on the wrist like it looked today...

Update. Tried calling R today and didn't connect. His box is full which worries me since that means a lot of people are calling and he isn't retrieving messages. I'll keep trying and any members currently living in his "neighborhood" - if there are any these days (sorry, I'm a bot out of touch with who's who on the forum these days) let us know if you hear anything or can look in on him. Thanks. I'm sure I'm not alone here when I say Lani is a true brother and I hate to see anyone I love sick. No fun. I'll keep you posted if I connect with him.

Wow. He mentioned it when he first got it a few weeks ago on the phone when I was telling him my illness sob story. Go figure. I had no idea it was gonna grab him this bad. First me, then him. Who is next? Illness is a sucky thing. Hang in there brudda. I'll call you anyway and check up. Hmmm, infection huh. What, too much Wahine Ho'okamakama punani? Nah. Why?

GMT Function. Help or Hinderance with travel?
RobbieG replied to TeeJay's topic in General Discussion
Ever since I started wearing this, my GMT experience greatly improved. I used to find it a hinderance with my Rolexes as if I used the bezel it would get hit and I personally don't care for the 24 hour bezel format as the hand reading changes. With the jumping hour pusher system moving forward and backward across midnite it is a breeze. And I love the 24 hour window for home time which tells night/day via 24 hr obviously, but does so without interfering with the main hands or dial. I wish more companies did "non-bezel read" GMT watches. I never travel with anything but this and I bring my DJ for a dressier change of pace usually as well. I will wear the GMT as a more casual day watch and the DJ as more of a night watch with of course strictly the Un on for actual travel days. -

I had a 2000 Eclusive Auto Chrono for a time and loved it. Really substatial piece. The TAG 2000's are great and reasonably priced.

Are you blue? What is your favorite blue dialed watch
RobbieG replied to kronos twin's topic in General Discussion
The Fish is always a looker with the blue dial... But my personal fav is the next on the list for me - one of my all time grails - Platinum DD in Glacier Blue. Oh the humanity! -
Absolutely - although not like a SD or DS though. Not that you need that level of protection unless you are a hardcore diver anyway...

Yeah, with an oyster bracelet and domed bezel these watches become alot more flexable. They also chaged the case shape recently. They have broader "shouders" now - thicker lugs. But with the same case width and lug width. It is amazing how much such a little change has made the watch appear so much bigger. I never cared as even the original case size (which is still with the DD btw) wears plenty big believe it or not - as long as you don't violate the cardinal rule & wear short sleves with them. Short sleves will make these look smaller. But for those who are interested, I have a 7.5" wrist which is bigger than average and as you can see from the wristies, the watch looks anything but small. Plus, the watch shines so much more with the 904 and finish spec that were it to be any bigger it would be too loud. I'll never get over how much more shiny my Rolex watches have been than anything else because of this. Nothing shines like Rolex metal... Thanks for all the compliments, but where are the other DJ's I requested? Post em' up boys.

As most of you know I'm a big champion of Rolex watches, specifically DD's and DJ's. The perfect all around pieces for sleeves and nothing but nothing shines like Rolex steel. I never get sick of looking at DJ's and DD's so give me my fix. We haven't done a DJ/DD thread in a while, so see those pics. I've had a DJ or DD in the box in one form or another for 15 years. They come and go, but here is the current one, a rhodium roman oyster M... ...and we gotta have some wristies in here too guys!

Gen bracelet pics for comparisons to all...Looks good from here Sam.

You all know how much I brag about UN bracelets being the best in the industry. I'll be interested to hear what you guys think of these and whether they nailed the finish and feel of the gen. The Bracelets absolutely MAKE the Marine Line as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy guys... And yes, the gen blue version dial is very much silver and even grey in certain light. It is basically a raw rhodium dial, not unlike my rhodium dialed Datejust but not as dark as my rhodium dialed MMD. I think the mistake was that they made the dial more like the siver dial on the original MMD (non-chrono). That one is also silver but looks nearly white - accentuated by the golf ball texture. I'm sure the watch will be great either way, but yes, it is far more white than the gen on this model. But these reps are amazing fit, sinish and quality wise - and hopefully the braclets will be on par with the rest. They really nailed these IMO. I couldn't believe it when I handled Phoband's for the first time at our last GTG. Amazing. Personally, I would get the black/red version were I in the market for one though as it is the most accurate. But the blue/silver is the coolest and most unique were I to get the gen. I'll bet they fix the dial color on the next run if these sell well and enough people mention it to Josh so he can kick it upstairs. Also, keep in mind the makers dogs prowl these forums so talk often and loudly about the color fix and they will see it.

Nice to be so missed. Good to be back - although limited for now. Wearing this tonight...

Always up for praise of the AT. So in the spirit of my temporary return to the fold, allow me to join the party in saying congrats and welcome to the AT club. Here are a couple of my Ti 3719...

Been wearing these two more than anything else lately. I've been traveling alot and these two always go with me. One for obvious functionality and the other for comfort and universal appeal/wardrobe flexibilty...

So, who thought (hoped) I was dead? No such luck for either of us. What's up, ya bunch of spring-wound degenerates... -
Yeah, sold out. And how is that a failure? Where I come from I call that success. Allowing ones opinions about design to dictate action would be the failure. Not that we have to worry though, Iceberg isn't in the luxury goods business. He just criticizes things from the balcony eating stale popcorn like the two guys from the Muppets, while Rolf counts the money, read the accolades, and polishes the awards...
