  2. I have to thank you all. This is my 500th post, and I wish to thank you all for everything I've learned about watches (both rep and gen) in these last 500 posts. I've learned more from spending time on this forum then all other forums combined. We are blessed with some of the most knowledgable minds around on this forum, and we should never forget that. So, here's to my 500 and 1000s more!
  3. Beautiful... love my BK TW Sub with PBdad love!
  4. Super cool!
  5. Thank you! I'm going to wear the Tudor out tonight. My friends will be wondering why I'm wearing such a small watch...
  6. LOL! I forgot how bad the vintage gens could be until I strapped a gen rivet bracelet on my gen Tudor 7909 this afternoon.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Pics are up in the Rolex area, my friends.
  8. And Freddy, I promise I WILL NOT send the Tudor off to PBdad to be re-lumed
  9. So I just received these two watches back from my very talented watchmaker today. We’ll start with my boring ‘ole datejust. It wasn’t passing the pressure test, so he tore it apart, cleaned everything and replaced every single gasket and she’s now good to go… Of course, she’s now sporting a brand new oyster bracelet because I hated the jubilee it came on. Much sportier! Next we have my little pet project. I picked up a beautiful (and rare) Tudor Ref. 7909 Oyster Prince 34 “Explorer” from auction packing an E.F. 390 movement. It was listed on the auction as having a broken balance staff, but my watchmaker took his instrument and moved something inside and she started ticking. He completely serviced the movement only having to replace a spring, all gaskets and fitted with a brand new Rolex plexi. I asked him if she passed the pressure test and he looked at me like I was insane and said in his Russian-English accent, “You know I don’t like old watches, and I won’t tell you it’s water resistant no matter what.” With that, he put it in the pressure tester and as we were talking about another project he looked over at the machine and said, “Hmmm, I guess it’s good to go… but I still won’t say it’s water resistant.” While he was working on it, I found a beautiful specimen of a 6635 stretch rivet bracelet marked “4 67.” I wasn’t sure I wanted to put much money into this project, but after getting it in the mail I realized it only looked horrible in photos because it was just covered in crud. Even my watchmaker was amazed by the case condition… what he originally thought was pitting in the case and case back was crud from disintegrated gasket! So, here she sits… on my wrist… original brevet crown, water proof and sporting a bracelet almost as old as my mother that was recently Rolex-serviced and looks practically new with all new springs. I’m not sure she’s for me, but this time capsule watch is going to be worn for a while to find out! Pictures of the inside prior to service: This afternoon in the snow… NOTE: The dial is flawless. There’s a photo where it looks like there’s a flaw on the dial, but that was just a snow droplet And those of you who know me, know that I have to have a project. Look at what arrived in the mail today… (all on the same day, even!) To be continued…
  10. Posting in the Rolex section... unfortunately, Omega sent my watchmaker the wrong size crystal, so I won't have that one until next week.
  11. Fresh from the watchmaker... GEN 1954 Tudor Oyster Prince 34 Explorer with E.F. 390 mvmnt on gen Rolex stretch rivet!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Glad to see I'm not the only one getting busted out on watch porn!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. A 1962 Omega Constellation he serviced and installed a gen Omega crystal on. My NOS datejust that is running perfect but needed a case cleaning and new gaskets to pass the pressure test and... ::drum roll please:: A 1954 Tudor Oyster Prince 34 "Explorer" I bought from auction running a flawlessly beautiful Ebauche Fleurier 390 movement that I've sourced a Rolex serviced stretch rivet bracelet for.... Pictures to follow this afternoon :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. LOL! When I'm being a brat I totally own up to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Holy smokes!!! That whole site:www.rwg.cc thing needs to be a sticky. That's my new favorite thing!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Eh... You guys are probably right. I think I've become an insane perfectionist. This could be explained by the fact I send every watch I purchase off to PBdad and then my smith bc I can't stand sharp edges on bracelets and movements running more than a minute off a day. I sent Joshua this: Joshua, My friend, I apologize for being difficult. After reviewing the pictures again, I've decided the watch is fine. I'm actually going to be drilling the lug holes out to make it look authentic anyhow, so I will get the end pieces the way I want them then. Please accept my apology for being what we Americans refer to as a PITA (pain in the ass). --Jeremy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Where did you order it from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Agreed. I guess my $10K was a little generous...
  19. LMAO!!!
  20. This is exactly the thought that went through my head before I scanned down to see it stated by someone else. Our reps are not always put together in the best fashion, and I've had this happen to one of my watches. Best solution is to send it off for a complete service and they'll reseat the hands well, and it'll change much closer to midnight.
  21. Ok... was not trying to stir the pot, I promise! I was just curious...
  22. Hahaha... I just want to make sure that it IS a reasonable request. Does anyone else see what I see, or am I being a little too crazy?
  23. Offer him $10K on the basis he has no paperwork and it's a mish-mash
  24. And don't get me wrong. He said he'll find another one, but I feel like that should have been the first response. I've only bought new reps from him, and I've never once rejected QC pics. It's just a little annoying considering I know I pay extra for his additional steps of care, when I try to make use of one of them and he argues with me. Meh!
  25. ...they just argue with you and tell you it's fine?!?!? I just bought a vintage Explorer II from Joshua for my vintage 1675 project and the bottom lug holes were drilled waaay off and it shows and I asked him to find a better example and I was met with "Hi, This is meant to be a vintage watch .. the end links are loose hollow design.. it will not have a perfect fit .. It is like this for the genuine as well. Can i proceed ?" I understand that it's not going to be perfect and I'm going to have it modded, but the closer it is to start the better the end result. Am I way off base here? Check out these pictures... (And it's not just in these pictures. Others he sent demonstrate the top being pretty good and the bottom being way off)
