Or buy a used, gen Tudor. You get a gen, with Rolex design (and many parts -- sans movement) and reliability at a fraction of the cost. I just picked up a nice, used Tudor on the bay for $400 and it came with the bracelet. Something to consider if you want something "out-of-the-box" and aren't invested enough in the rep game for modding them. Of course, you can buy a BK sub and deck it out for $1200 (gen insert, crystal, crown, tube etc.) and it'll be so CLOSE.

Sometimes the rep bracelets are great. Good fitment and feel (after a little softening). Well, the rep bracelet that came with my Daytona was anything but accurate, comfortable, or a good fit. The end pieces rattled every time my wrist moved. I've become too much of a perfectionist, and that's generally a bad thing when dealing with rep watches. What's one to do in this situation? Well, the only thing I could think of (short of putting it on leather) was to buy a GEN bracelet. I looked long and hard for the right set. 78350 bracelet with 571 end pieces and gen 19mm spring bars. Even though the bracelet cost more than I paid for the watch head itself, I say it was money well spent

This is excellent advice. I was talking to my local watchmaker (CW21 with a Rolex account and all that jazz) about which of my gen watches would be safest to take snorkeling while on vacation in FL an he said, "Whatever cheap watch you don't mind risking to the elements.". This is coming from the guy who services all of my gens and pressure tests them when he's done. He's cited many examples of "dive watches" failing people frequently. It's the aged DW that comes with Josh's aged 1655 Exp II. It actually looks pretty darn good... like a gen with natural patina. -
Stretching problem in vintage gen bracelet?
tabularasa415 replied to rwgforumfan's topic in The Rolex Area
The best thing that you can do to prevent stretch in bracelets is to ultrasonic clean them every 6-ish months. You'd be amazed at the crap I've shaken out of both gen and rep bracelets. -
Cyclops mag (if the crystal has one) is, in my opinion, the best way to tell. Having seen many after market plexi crystals, I also feel there's a certain clarity to gen Rolex plexi crystals that aftermarket products lack.

I think JJ (RolexAddict) can answer your questions better than myself. But I will say the insert is gen and they're not cheap. It is functional and not glued. He's definitely passionate about the 1675 and he has honed his passion in on that model. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Which low beat ETA movement for Josh 1655 McQueen?
tabularasa415 replied to rwgforumfan's topic in The Rolex Area
Your movement from Ofrei doesn't make a ratcheting noise when it turns?!? Maybe I just need to buy one of these for my recent 1675 build! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

No issues. It keeps amazing time. And yes, it is independently adjustable so it's basically perfect for me. The looks of the 1675 with the capabilities of a 16710! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If I decide to place it in the "keep forever" section of my box, I'll probably source a gen bracelet for it like some of my others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Thank you -
So I've been (trying to) patiently waiting for my Rolex 1675 to arrive from France built by our very own JJ. This watch started off life as one of Joshua's 1655 reps, and was beautifully transformed into the 1675 before you, complete with gen crystal, crown, tube and insert. I also sourced a nice Yuki dial for it as well. Many other parts were involved, but JJ took care of sourcing them. So, without further delay, I introduce to you my 1675... (please excuse finger prints and dust as these photos were taken quite hastily)
