...does it seem like there are a LOT of amazingly well-modded/Franken watches for sale right now that no one seems to be buying. I feel like it is definitely a buyer's market in both the rep and gen worlds. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I have a pretty decked out MC incoming. I want to put two finishing touches on it -- Phong's faceted hands and his Tudor bridge. Does anyone have any experience dealing with him? Is his initial price negotiable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Haha! Well, I have some reversing parts laying around, Nanuq, as you well know. I finally got my little 390 up and running and keeping GREAT time! After he replaced all the bearing clicks and put it back together it still wasn't winding... Turned out to just be a wheel that wasn't set just right. Eight months and a lot of research for parts later, here she is! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I can't believe I just now saw this thread. I'm sorry to hear you're in such a situation. As others here have stated, cherish the good times you have left. You're a true humanitarian and a damn good son. And you know you have this group of brothers here to lean on... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New Gen Pam coming out. What do you think?
tabularasa415 replied to Lobster's topic in The Panerai Area
I like classic PAMs, of what PAMs I do like. I own a rep 063c (EL, all that) and a 005 for their clean looks and wrist presence (and for something not Rolex which is pretty rare in my lineup). But these newer PAMs are looking more and more refined and they're losing something -- a certain je ne sais quoi. It reminds me of my love affair with BMW. I have 4. A 1982 5 series, and 1985, 2004 and 2007 3 series. The older the car, the less refinement and the more it feels like a BMW. I drove a 2012 528i when the '04 was in the shop getting worked on and while the gadgets were awesome, the car's handling was pathetic and it had no performance as she was powered by a 2.0 liter turbo 4 banger. My point? Both Panerai and BMW had a certain rawness in their DNA that made them distinctly unique, and both seem to be suffering from a little too much recombination with the other brands out there. I have a gen 78350 with gen 571 end pieces on my dw 6263 and it is the cherry on top for the piece.

So I bought a SuperFranken today... on VRF?!?!?!
tabularasa415 replied to tabularasa415's topic in The Rolex Area
Yeah... I'm tempted by a Phong case, but $1450!?!?!?! Does MQ have a website? Does this look legit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/170908883311?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 -

Good call on the seconds hand. I think I need a different dial. If it were a feet first, the second tracks would be correct, but this is off at the bottom where the "swiss t 25" is, and it will drive me nuts. I may also get a modern gen insert. I can't see paying $400 for an old beat up one. Or maybe fading this one is ok. What is the tell that this insert is not genuine? -

I think maybe an nd trading dial and hand set might look closer to the real deal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
