  1. Can you imagine the repercussions this watch is going to make on the secondary market? How many people (other than people like us) are going to look beyond details of the cyclops mag, date wheel font and movement? If the clasp is close and things are stamped properly... beyond popping the caseback off (which is what most dealers do to check to see if it's a gen), what's going to stop people from buying these as gen? Scary...
  2. Eeeek. I can only imagine that sound coming from inside a watch!
  3. If you look in the forum there is a section that lists several people capable of helping you.
  4. LMAO! :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy: :Jumpy:
  5. I'm just wondering with all of the A7750 movements put into Chinese reps getting crappier and crappier (have been reading a thread started by Rex), is it possible to swap these movements in our watches for ETA movements? Are the date wheels interchangeable? What about the GMT mod (Panerai watches)? Just curious....
  6. So after you get one movement torn all the way apart, get it put back together and operating properly... I'll send you some of mine? Nice buy, and be sure to keep us all updated on how your project is going.
  7. The value is intrinsic. My best friend loves my watches (gen and rep) and he knows I collect both. He was absolutely IN LOVE with my rep PAM 156 (heavily modded) and thinks my gen 111 is "ok." One day I told him the 156 was a fake and the 111 was genuine and he started to admire my 111 more and more and immediately dismissed his affection for the 156. Why? Because he now knew which was "real" and which was "fake." I used to feel the same way. While I appreciate the craftsmanship of the replica, it paled in comparison to my love of my gens. That is, until I started building Franken watches. What do you get when you start turning these replica watches into almost precisely what the gens are? -- a deep, resonating appreciation for your ability to beat the manufacturers and an ability to wear the watch on your wrist with all the pride (if not more than) that you would a gen. That, my friends, as it has already been stated, is where it's at. Those of us who are the WISs know that we have created a watch that's just as good as the gen at a mere fraction of what they charge, and that makes our watch just as good, and, as far as we are concerned, us a hell of a lot smarter. That's what I call bang for the buck!
  8. I found this while looking for Bund straps: http://www.bonanza.com/listings/NEW-19mm-Alligator-Bund-Strap-for-Rolex-Daytona-6263/22549264
  9. None of them are going to be reliable until they're serviced and none are too close-to-gen out of the box. Your best bet would be to keep your eyes peeled on the sales threads and pick up a piece that has already been modded and serviced. Even if you have to wait a few weeks for that watch to come along, it's better than spending months and months sending a watch here and there.... Unless you're into that sort of thing. You know, like I am :-)

  11. George Daniels just rolled over in his grave!
  12. Hahaha... I barely pay attention to the VIP area. I can't imagine how badly I'd ignore the Platinum area....
  13. I agree with you 100%, I just think Mr. Parks should quote more realistic wait times and work on his communications (my e-mails went unanswered for very long periods of time). Customer service is largely a part of the entire "experience," so to speak. Just my .02
  14. You guys are funny. I have several gen Rolex watches. My "grail" watch, if it's any consolation, is a Calatrava in white gold when I'm finally in the six figures range And as to date, my most prized piece is a very simple solid gold seconds at 6 Vacheron dress watch from the late 50s I took as part of a trade. (And you don't want to know how much of a steal I got it for!)
  15. Be careful how big you go... my heroic 18 strap came with a HUGE buckle. While it's suuuuuper cool, it won't fit into the slot on my watch winder.
  16. You're right! That speakers almost as rare as a horse's toe!
  17. It IS a bk tw best with gen crown, insert, crystal and I sourced a gen 93250 clasp for it as well. :-) I'll do a full review shortly.
  18. Yes on the noob, although I did fit it with a TW best bracelet with much better end links. No on your guess for the second watch.
  19. Ugh... instead of studying for my exam I keep coming back to the forum!

  20. Lord have mercy...
  21. Good Lord, that'd be more valuable than any of my gens.
  22. The brookstone one might be a good idea. That way, if it doesn't work at least there's a store front where I can take it back!
  23. So I bought a pretty darn cheap watch winder off of the bay almost a year ago and it's beginning to lose its mind. It holds 4 watches (2 2 piece bays) to wind and a row of 6 watches underneath for storage. Everyone in the family is already bugging me about what I want for Christmas and a new winder is at the top of my list. I would like something that holds 4 to 6 watches, preferably with some storage (if no storage, I will survive). I don't want a piece of junk that's going to have a bad circuit in a year, but I also don't want one of these $800 jobs that holds 4 watches and give you a BJ every 24 minutes. Any recommendations for something solid that's also a good value? I'm trying to keep it reasonably priced because I don't like asking for expensive items from family members. I may just ask them to get it for me as a group gift. All recommendations are appreciated. --Jer
  24. The best USPS experience I've had was when I ordered my first rep from Joshua and received it 5 days after he dropped it in the post. Talk about setting yourself up for disappointment for future transactions...
