Anyone have anything to say about Orloff? They look pretty nice and he uses inserts in the strap ends.

The attitude of some members and false accusations!

That's fine, and I'm glad you got a seamless transaction. However, I don't feel like you or anyone else here on the forum needs to come on and start a thread about how "I got screwed over by XYZ member on a watch deal" and then say that you paid them by WU or bank transfer. Everyone here has been informed that the folks need to do their due diligence before a deal, that includes evaluating the payment method and the history of the seller. WU and Bank transfers have very limited "Claw back" provisions, and I can assure you that by the time you figure out the deal has gone south, those provisions have long since expired. So if you chose to use those payment methods, you better darn sure do your homework ahead of time and if you don't, don't expect a lot of sympathy from folks here. -

this is not against you, but my policy is unless a amember has been around for a while and has made a contribution to the forum with useful postings, as well as good feedback from other members, the use of bank transfers and WU are non starters for me. -
I'm not buying anything from him, just saying that those who might would have a better chance on EBay and PayPal than a straight deal with him. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

His EBay site has been up for a while, I don't think it has ever gone away. I'm a little leery of him, but as Alligoat buying through EBay and paying with PayPal would offer you protection.

It's a pretty simple straight forward process provided you have the correct tools and a good workspace and good lighting. If you are lacking any of those, I would recommend sending it to a good watchsmith and get the dial changed. Easy to f**K up the keyless works if you don't know how to release it to remove the stem, and easy to mess up hands if you don't know how to remove them or replace them after your new dial is in place.

OK Tony, those photos are nice (Most of them!! LOL) but we need some details. Looks very nice. This is a gen right?

I have a RC, and a Safari, although I bought the RC with movement problems and it went straight to my watchsmith for a movement service, AR and lume. I really like the RC for the fact that it has lume and the Safari does not. I looked at getting a Panda, and they are very nice, however I decided that the red hands and writing on the tachy ring were a little too much and I opted for the Safari instead. Both of your choices are really beautiful watches, and you couldn't go wrong with either one. If however you are a lume lover, you will be disappointed with the lack of lume on the Panda. You can relume the RC and it's really striking.

I have no problems with minuteman hanging around, if he is civil, which he seems to be now, and is a contributor to the forum. AFA the folks who wear replicas and try to pass them off as genuine, well, that's about the same as going over to the Vintage Rolex forum and posting your MBW 1680. You are going to get hammered, and frankly, you get what you deserve. I believe that he vast majority of contributing members here, are not trying to pass their reps off as a genuine watch, and I say contributing, because there are literally thousands of people who sign up for this and other rep forums come on board, read a few posts and find out where to buy a good rep, leave, with a zero post count, never to be seen or heard from again. I cannot speak for these folks, because they never made a contribution at all. I would guess however that a fairly large number of these "pass through" individuals do indeed buy a rep watch to impress their friends with their "real" Rolex, AP,Omega, etc. What these people do with their watches is their own business, but I don't believe that you should implicate the entire rep community because of what some folks do. As far as the rep community being a criminal activity and supporting organized crime, I'm afraid that you are going to have to show me some real statistics to support that theory. I very seriously doubt that the replica watch industry in China is anything but industrious entrepreneurs who are trying to get ahead in the world, like everyone else. I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of the replica watches come out of the very same factories that produce the millions of low end to mid range watches that you see in Dept. stores, WalMart and other discount stores. The Chinese government is turning a blind eye to all of the replica/ counterfeiting business, simply because it's good for the economy, creates and maintains jobs, and when people have jobs, they aren't out in the streets protesting and creating social upheaval, which is one thing that the Chinese government fears the most. As long as people from other parts of the world are buying the goods produced in China, whether they be legitimate or counterfeit, the Chinese authorities could not give a good damn what we think, what Rolex thinks, or any of the other "luxury good" companies think. They need the Chinese more than the Chinese need them!! And as far as the theory advanced that we are supporting child labor and enslaved laborers, I can tell you I'm 100% convinced that you are much more likely to be supporting child labor with your purchases of any article of clothing that isn't made in the USA, and I mean anything from Polo Ralph Lauren to the T shirts you buy at Target.

That is definitely and aftermarket bracelet, so that detracts from the value. I would possibly post it on some of the genuine forums such as WUS, TZ etc.. in their Omega forums. Also a good rough idea can be gotten from Ebay and the genuine watch sales forums. I did a little looking on TZ and couldn't find anything exactly like yours, but several similar. Prices were anywhere from 250.00 USD to around 800.00 USD. the higher priced ones were really nice watches in great condition with nice straps or original bracelets, and recently serviced. Hope you weren't expecting this one to be a rare and expensive model, because it isn't. I would doubt that yours would be worth much more than 300-500 USD in the condition and service history unknown.

Welcome to the forum, and a very well written and thought out first post. It would be hard to add anything to the posts by some of the members who posted before me, but suffice to say those guys have some wonderful modded watches that would make any of us drool with envy. Read and look at the photos in the brand sections, and you will get a great education, and a good source of comparison between what you have and what else is available. And if you get hooked, these modded beauties are like crack for a crack addict, once you get one, partner, you are hooked!) Welcome aboard this crazy train!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Very nice, and with a personal history it's even nicer. I plan to leave some of my watches to my son and hopefully he will pass then on to his son. I suppose I'm a sentimentalist at heart, so I love these sorts of watches. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

As I said in the previous post, I searched the sales forum using every one of the criteria That I said I used. This thread did not come up in any of the searches. Looking at this guys posts, most are what I would call "fluff" posts, they don't make any constructive contributions to the forum. AFA his sales thread, when I read bank transfer, that would have done it for me. Fairly new, unknown member, in most cases legit, but why take the chance! Whether or not this guy is the old scammer Breitlingguy, hard to tell, but historically, scammers if successful will come back and try again, that's why folks have to be very diligent vetting sellers, the old adage, "buy the seller then the watch" is the best advice a member can take. From my perspective this seller sends up several red flags, but the bank transfer only would definitely seal the deal for me, "NO SALE"!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

That looks very nice. I have a black Hornback on order for my RGRC. If It doesn't work on that one, I'll use it on my White RC.
-
I'm a little confused here, you bought the watch from Breitlingguy, he didn't send watch to you or other members so you successfully opened a PayPal dispute and got your money back, however the others had not by the time that thread closed. Now you are saying fast forward 6 months and another Black Omega Seamaster Chrono appeared, and you believe that the guy is the same as Breitlingguy, correct? I went back and searched the sales forums, using "Seamaster, Seamaster chronograph, Omega and Omega Seamaster, the last post that matches any of your criteria is the one by Breitlingguy in November of 2013, which I would assume is the one referenced in your original post. So again, I'm saying you are being too vague to be of any use to the members here. When we are dealing with potential scammers, I don't like playing games, because while we are playing games the scammer is selling bogus watches to other members. I also don't like to see anyone implicated because he has a similar name, or he doesn't have any ID. If I were confronted by this situation, I would ask the seller for some references, and hopefully he had a sales history that was such that he could furnish such information. If he couldn't them I would bid him good day, walk away and keep looking. Another question, after spending some time looking for the thread in the sales section, and not finding anything that is close to what you are describing, is it possible that the Black Omega Seamaster Chronograph was for sale on another forum? I simply cannot find anything here. Not very many Omegas go through the sales forum, and nothing came up in my searches.

How about spinmaster?

I seriously doubt that you are man enough to carry a real Minuteman's powder horn. But at any rate, Goodbye !! Don't waste your valuable time here, I hear that WalMart is having a sale on "genuine" watches!!!

What most of these folks don't seem to realize is most of the folks here are also owners of genuine watches. I have probably twice as many genuine watches as replicas. I'm not a "poseur", I don't need to be, and never was. I do like what mtbkr65 said, that replicas are a good way to " test drive" a particular watch before you buy. Lots of folks see the prices that Rolex and a few other really popular brands command as used, but realize this, there are many, many other brands that are not as well known, and these have a huge depreciation when resold. If you don't believe this, go over to the sales forum on WUS or TZ and see what folks are selling practically new watches for. With many brands you are lucky to get 70% of your purchase price back when you resell. So from that standpoint, I would rather buy a 400.00 USD rep of a 5K watch and try it on for size, If I like it, I might start searching the genuine forums for a gently used genuine. If it doesn't resonate, then probably the gen won't either. Much easier to sell the rep on for 300.00 USD and take a 100 buck loss rather than selling a gen and taking a 1k or more loss! Just makes good economic sense to me.

I agree with Rolexman, just posting something like this is of no help at all. Personally, I am wary of folks who come on the forum and within a period of a few days or weeks post several sales, sometimes with poor photos, descriptions and asking for WU, or bank transfer. These are the folks I worry about. As a general rule, I would rather pay the extra 4% and use conventional PayPal for most of my purchases. The primary reason for this is not necessarily because I don't trust the seller, but I believe that PayPal is monitoring gift transactions, and if one were to make several "gift" transactions in a very short period of time, flags go up, alarms go off and they are really looking at your account. Let's be realistic, when you send money to family or friends (real legitimate family or friends) do you ever send 256.85 ? No, you would send 250.00 or 300.00 dollars. PayPal knows that, they process millions of transactions, they monitor them all, and they can see the statistics with the touch of a key. Secondly, I don't like the idea of not being able to reverse a transaction should it fall apart. If I buy something from anyone, and what I receive is materially different from what is described, I will bend over backwards to try to resolve the problem, but if the seller is non cooperative or disappears, then I would like to have the option of reversing the deal. The internet is a fertile field for scammers and con artists, deals are conducted anonymously, often with a person using a user name. Transactions are completed in seconds half a world away. Computer literate individuals can set up several accounts under different user names, even posting their locations in different parts of the globe, put up items for sale, sell them to one of their other names, post positive feedback, and use these and other nefarious methods to make it look like they are one of the "good" guys. How do we keep these people at bay? First off use some common sense. is the deal looking too good to be true, because it probably is. Do your due diligence. How long has this seller been around, has he sold things to long time well respected members, how was the sale to them? What is he posting about outside of the sales forums? Any posts of true value, or all of his/her posts just little short "fluff" posts to pad his post count? And lastly, what is the method of payment requested? PayPal gift, WU, Bank transfer? If these are the only methods accepted, then I would run away from this transaction. My feelings are, if a member here doesn't want to take my regular PayPal +4% payment which will net him exactly the same amount, then I'm suspicious. A year or two back, I bought a watch off a member here, and he refunded my PayPal payment because I sent him a regular payment, I PM'ed him and he said he only took PayPal gift, as he was "worried" that someone would start a dispute with him. My answer was "if you send a good watch, and it arrives safely, you shouldn't have to ever worry about a dispute" He answered back that he had sold a watch to a member on another forum and the guy obviously had buyers remorse, wanted to send the watch back, seller refused, and the guy opened a PayPal dispute. I told him that I was sorry about what happened, but that didn't change my payment method. He refused, I told him thanks but no thanks and that was it. Lastly, when you are buying something on this and any forum, remember that there are almost no deals for watches, straps, parts, etc. that you won't see repeated at some time in the future. That "must have" watch will reappear sooner or later. So, if the deal is ringing bells, and is making you feel uncomfortable, It's much better to walk away today and wait for the next one to come along than run the risk of getting in the middle of a bad deal.
