Call me fickle but I've bought/sold this watch so many times. What's not to like? Why get rid of it? Why buy it again? Who knows... All I know is that this watch is pretty much perfect. Maybe this is the reason why I cut it from my collection. Maybe it's boringly perfect? Or maybe it's boring? Right now I like it again

I decided to wear this old bird today ... And the non-quickset date indicator was left at today's date! It's been about a month since the last time I wore this watch! How lucky! The dang non-quickset is not so much fun sometimes ... PS. Miss 1966 still can dive to 200m with the topless-style bikini caseback

Update: Motorcity Watch Works won't accept parts anymore, only complete watches ... with a minimum 6 month lead time. Does anyone else have any USA-based options? I will take a look at the suggested U.K. option... But because of the high value of the parts I would like coated, I am trying to source a USA biz!

Going on 11 years owning this one with ETA 7750 Mov't + day/date wheels and The Zigmeister lined the dial/hands... Taka AR'd crystal. Reliable workhorse is an understatement!

The middle one today after installing an OEM titanium crown.

I've had IWW pvd a 007 for me back in the early 2000s. Very expensive! Motorcity Watch Works is interesting but the 4-5 month turnaround time isn't. Especially for a disassembled mid-case, crown and pushers... All media blasted already. There is a huge gunsmith Cerakote shop down the road from me... their turnaround time is 24 hours, this includes disassembly/assembly and media blasting. They won't do watch parts. The pricing is way cheap too, like $25 total. I'm hoping to find a shop that doesn't focus on watches but that is willing to do small parts. I might have to utilize Motorcity Watch Works...

Can anybody recommend or know of a PVD or DLC plating/coating shop in the US that will take on small parts (watch parts)? I know there are some watch businesses that will do watch parts but they charge an extraordinarily silly amount of money. Cerakote is an option perhaps too but every Cerakote "approved" gunsmith company refuses to do disassembled watch parts. They will do springs and screws from guns but won't do pushers or watch crowns! Strange.... Any non-watchworld leads?

I've built a few v23 and v72 DWs a decade ago... And if memory serves me right, the stem is not the same size at all. I have a valjoux 230 flyback, which is a modified valjoux 23, but the stem is a split stem and it appears to be of a different size than the MM stem. The mystery continues... I think there are a few folks seeking this same info... btw Slay, nice gilt sub you have up for grabs-------> very tempting! Here's the modified Valjoux 23 aka caliber 230 flyback. I tried to install this stem but it appears to be of a different size One thought I have is that this MM might be a weird and unique one. I got this particular movement from DW's very very first batch. His parts were all different at the time. Trial & error or rather, research and testing phase... I never sold this particular watch because I wanted to figure out what the hell the issue is with this stem!!!

Dang right! That was thee test to end all tests back then!!! Nice bit of history and certainly it was conducted under the most rigorous test parameters around--COAC standards!! Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) approved watches have nothing on Contrôle Officel Alaska des Chonomètres (COAC) approved watches!!!!

Here's my 90s OEM genuine Shiterand Subpaaariner It still runs and keeps excellent time! Many watches have come and gone from my collection over the past 2 decades but this one is a keeper.

It's the military-issued Heuer 1550SG with Valjoux 230 flyback mov't. Until this past year, you could find them for less than $2k all day long. The price point has doubled now, and it looks to continue to appreciate. Get one soon! Because of the 43mm diameter and thin case profile, it's very modern in sizing... And everyone needs at least one flyback mov't in their collection

Wish I didn't trade this bezel with patina for a NOS mint one! Stupid me!
