Still need a new crown stem...

History repeats itself (unless we remain vigilant and not ignorant of history's fine lessons). Remember when these greedy jerks bullied all the small family-owned cottage watch companies back in the 1970s? Sell us your company for dirt cheap or get erased off the face of this planet by Quartz movements? LVMH, ETA/Swatch, Etc... By the way, look at who owns Nivarox now! Anyone else think that hairsprings are important to our hobby?!? Yikes! PS. Hublot owners aren't real watch folks lol! Hublot's modus operandi is a perfect match for Swatch/ETA, like-minded bullies ready to stamp out the small upstart fish

There are less and less vintage watches out there it seems. 20 or so years ago, the pricepoint on vintage pieces were substantially lower, so scavenging almost didn't sting at all. This is not the case anymore. Prices have really started to get outrageous--namely due to the internet & rapid knowledge dissemination. This is good and bad, like most great things in life [emoji3] There was a time when I bought this for something like $650! Yes I stupidly sold it a few years later... Arrrgh, time machine please!

This is a really neat Art Deco watch. The crystal profile is fascinating and lends a really unique look to it in person. Impossible to capture with a camera I suppose.

Hahaha! That is a really great idea!! I suppose a solder with less lead would be stronger--it is a high-torque 'link' since it's a daily winder.

The crown stem broke on my DW Mystery Mov't Daytona approx. 10 years ago. I never found a suitable replacement stem. Does anybody know what stem fits?

Geez, I was just looking for the awesome Zodiac Sea-Chron case parts and I came across this other Valjoux 72 I desecrated for yet another DW Daytona a decade ago! Oh my! It's penance time for me [emoji20]

Zodiac had some really great designs! I really like your watch. My favorite that I regret gutting and converting into a DW Daytona a decade ago was my Zodiac Sea-Chron. What a gorgeous watch, with a very cool thick domed acrylic crystal. It was also 41mm-42mm diameter sans crown/pushers, so it wore very well for me. Similar to a Speedy actually but thicker.

I'm wearing my Heuer today... I also wish I was staring at the Mediterranean from a little drinking kiosk on the Promenade Des Anglais!

I agree with you. I dig both of mine very much!! The Heuer is a slept-on piece. It was available for next to nothing up until last year. I think people are finally catching on to the stellar Flyback Valjoux 230 mov't & also the fact that the watch is thin but 43mm in diameter without the pushers/crown. It's a big contemporarily-sized watch but elegant and wearable due to its thinness!

Dragged this out of storage and slapped in a (gasp) new battery. Haven't worn it in 10 years! No fan of Quartz but the watch has provenance as a military issued watch.

I regret selling mine years ago

I've had this for many many years, and surprisingly it keeps excellent time. Nicely sized, too, at 43mm diameter. Semi-pocketwatch case is interesting, the back pops off and reveals a hinged caseback covering up a lovely 15j mov't! If only watches could talk... This one has many stories I bet.

A classic from a bygone era... From Eddie Lee!!! Zig installed an OEM 7750 mov't, OEM day/date wheels and superlumed the hands and markers... Taka AR crystal installed... Got this from EL's first batch, when it was fresh out the oven. When was this guys? 2006? I still wear this a few times a week. I have no idea why, but there are no scratches or dings, it still looks new!
