It is an interesting watch, in person it remains more palatable IMHO. I think that the asking price for the rep is crazy (despite thee supposed costs of ceramics). But the asking price for the real thing is total insanity. Hublot should be smakcked in the face for selling a watch that is not powered by an in-house movement for such a price. As a matter of fact, a lot of people deserve to be smacked If we pay these high prices for reps, the dealers/manufacturers will continue to charge more.

Uhh, with my calipers, I measured 21mm (just like OEM). Hktan's big pilot strap is the way to go IMHO. I am still waiting for my custom version that is 21x18. Black with white stitch. I saw a ceramic split seconds with this strap and I decided that I must have it with the 3717.

I guess we have to wait & find out if an overlay is possible with the Asia 7750.

Hate to put it in such terse terms but: You should expect nothing if the seller did not try to discourage you from your purchase.

I forgot to mention that the Mark XV has been modded: - Genuine dial - Genuine hands - Genuine crown + tube Perhaps one day, the 3717 can be modded with an OEM 7750 and proper day/date wheel font! And both watch crystal scould benefit from AR coating... But these watches are hot as is.

The only reason why I am posting these pics is because I took them this afternoon They turned out pretty nice, so I thought that maybe you folks might like to look at 'em. Afterall, this is a watch forum, isn't it? It seems that sometimes we are so busy picking out flaws in reps or wishing/hoping for some new rep to be delivered quickly - that we don't take the time to stop the bitching and simply just enjoy beauty... These 2 DW Daytonas are powered by the mighty Valjoux 72 movement. It was not easy to source the movements, it was even harder to 'scavenge' the movements just to make a rep. I will never do this again to another Valjoux 72 watch. Well, FWIW, here are some pics. I hope u enjoy them as much as I enjoy wearing these little watches. Best regards.

Yes, it ain't easy tnkering with these movements and parts. I've goen through a slew of those miyota-type movements... All's I can say is: ARRRGHH!!!

That's funny, my first rep wa basically the same watch! It still runs like a champ. It's got a glossy dial, mineral crystal, poor date font, etc... But I still have it because it reminds me that there's still no damn excellent 1655 rep yet!. Anyhow, I bought the 1655 in Japan many many years go. The watch still looks new. Cheers.

It is a terrible shame that Rolex no longer supports service on the 1030/5 movement. I can see that there are some folks that are willing to take the chance with the listed movement on ebay so that they might have a few extra parts fro their 1030/5. But as mentioned above, the watch appears to have been smashed head-on head-on apply directly to your forehead. If the movement was breached with saltwater, there could be considerable damage. If it was just plain ol' pool water, it is (perhaps) not so bad. I have experience restoring a 1675 that was powered with a 1565 movement that had water damage. After a complete service, it was running like new again. Anyhow, I bought the movement as a 'gamble'. I lucked out with it. Maybe the luck can be attributed to the insane build quality control that Rolex used to have. Most of you have seen/read the info below... Here's a pic of that movement. You can see that it had 'brassed' due to water exposure. By the way, this happens with age as well; it does not have to be water that causes discoloration. ...And this was the watch that I had built from 100% OEM parts (that included this 1565 movement)

I always tell myself that this will be my 'travel' watch. It keeps excellent time and is very comfortable. One day, one day...
