  1. I don't know, but I would love to own one! Perhaps they are from Vietnam. I know that there was a cobbler in Hanoi that was making 50 Fathom frankens 5+ years ago. But he was using old parts - not any new parts like what u have showing in your pic. The twerp was selling them as original items. I think that this dishonest fellow was the originator of the original infamous fake Omega SM300 "Stubbies". If anybody knows where this rep is from, let us know!
  2. Brought out one of my all-time favorite watches! I know that it's gonna be a great weekend!
  3. Yes it is! I've been looking for one for many years now Anybody have an unused one?? I've got the appropriate NOS Twinlock 7mm crown (the earliest incarnate with just the crown logo, no dash line) that is just waiting to be used. The only leak my 5513 has is via the worn tube. Mind you, I would never go near any water with the Sub, but I would like the watch to be hermetically sealed (for obvious resaons). Arrrghh!!! PS. I know I should've just upgraded to the Triplock system... Anyhow, I no longer have my watches serviced by Rolex AD due to their lack of support for my vintage models so I guess it doesn't make a difference.
  4. Looks really good, nice work! I suggest that you soften the edges of the lugs. On a watch that old, the case edges wouldn't be so sharp. Here's a close-up pic of my OEM Sub. Notice the smooth edges due to patina.
  5. It's funny, I agree with my Aussie pal that the Breguet is the finest of the lot. Wow. TTK: I am very glad that you spared us pics of those HORRID new Rolex!!! Cheers
  6. @Freddy333: Some bad news regarding the japanese site... It appears that a good buddy of ours got scammed by them! Beware! By the way, I do not know of a non-Oyster Daytona rep as of this time. There was, back in the day, a very nice bi-compax Poljot 3133-powered movement Daytona. This was many years ago now, and I have not heard about/seen one in a very long time. Cheers
  7. Nothing like a little wabi! Perfect imperfection!
  8. All in all, the MBW looks like a nice modification candidate. Here are some thoughts/answers to your questions: There is no doubt that the primary dilemna is the inaccurate BPH of the ETA movement. To mod the case to fit a 1575 movement, you would need to enlist the services of a very skilled individual (such as The Zigmeister). For the lug holes, as Ubi mentioned, the correct tools are needed. Once again, a fine fellow like The Zigmeister could do the job correctly. I like the bezel width and the CGs on the (supposed) MBW. The overall 'feel' appears to be quite nice IMHO. As far as the dial size... I am fairly certain that the dial is the same size as the 1675, 5512/3, 1680, 1665. Like By-Tor mentioned, most aftermarket Tropic 116 crystals have 1.5x - 2x magnification, so your date issues could 'work out'. Remember that OEM T-116 mag is 2.5x Overall, this is going to be a fun project!! ---> Please let us know how that caseback looks. Is it thicker than the 1675 and thinner than 1680/5513? This caseback issue has always driven me nuts. OEM 1655 sits very differently on the wrist than 1675 or 5513. I try on my aunt's 1655 every year when I see her in Tokyo and my daily watch for the past 15+ years has been OEM 1675. Mmmm...

Hope it all works out. It's funny, I've had so many problems trying to finish one of my 6263 watches. I still need some more $$$, more parts and more patience Once I'm done with this watch, I'm done with Daytonas!
  10. For a fast prime telephoto, try the 200mm 2.8L lens. Wow. There's also a 300mm 2.8L with Image Stablization along with a 400mm 2.8L (also with IS) <------ these will cost u a pretty penny though! Remember that the XTI has a cropped sensor so the 200mm 2.8L lens would equal 320mm. This only applys to "EF" lenses, not "EF-S" lenses. By the way, a nice alternative to the 200mm 2.8L is the 135mm 2.8L (equal to 216mm) For Macro, I recommend the EF-S 60mm or the EF 100mm 2.8
  11. I believe that the tube that you need is next to impossible to source. I should know: I've had my '67 5513 for years and to this day I still cannot find a replacement tube for its original Twinlock system. I have 15+ years of connections with vintage Rolex parts - still no luck. I think that I will eventually do the Triplock upgrade. The reason why I never did this is because my 5513 is all original (including superdome 19). I've got a NOS 7mm Twinlock crown that I think I will sell at some point...
  12. Interesting. I enjoy my PAM reps, but I could never get myself to purchase a genuine PAM. Maybe its because there are so many PAMs strapped to so many idiots here in LA. I've compared genuine to rep, and they are quite similar - too similar for me to give the Richemont Group any more money. For slightly less than $5k, I'd buy a Breguet Type XX. PS. I will still buy PAM reps though

Damn, I am very sorry to hear that.
  14. I really like your 'wabi' techniques. Looks very nice. Cheers

Ohh man, u got scammed by KEN? That is bad news. I am sorry to hear the trouble. I had a funny feeling that KEN was no good. I never ever pay via WU unless it's a real good pal of mine. I won't even get into me losing $1k via WU a few years ago I still fume when I thingk about it.
  16. There's a little more than that, the 2 hash marks touching the 12 triangle is more what its all about. Anyhow, that is a bonifide "Stubby" dial AKA fake!
  17. Stuning rep indeed. I gotta pick up one soon. Thanks for the post.
  18. I'm glad somebody said it instead of me. I would never wear a Bentley, Prada, LV, Ferrari, Porsche, AMG Benz watch, etc... It's just silly! Do I have to buy a Rolls for my Jaeger LeCoultre? Or a stinkin' Lincoln for my Bulgari? Remember though, this is JMHO.
  19. I've always liked this watch, I should stop drooling over other people's watches and just buy one for myself.
  20. Nice watch. Try a leather strap. Perhaps an Alligator. It would look unique and very elegant.
  21. Hi Thomasng, hope u are well... Please post your impressions upon receipt. We are all very curious! Best regards from Euno
