  1. There are feet first and meter first 5513's
  2. Com on, it would ruin our hobby and kill all the fun.
  3. Thanks for the compliment. No, there is no gasket needed. It s actually the same as the MBW I had. The insert snaps in the bezel and stay's there very secure without any glue. There is even a gasket space under the retaining ring like on the gen (although they forgot a gasket )
  4. Copied mate. Actually I allready did this but aparantly not enough LOL.
  5. Thanks Andy. Can you explain what you mean with lowering the crown seat?
  6. Yes, your right a gen crown would make a difference. I have a couple at home but they don't fit in the exsisting tube and I am awaiting some tubes for the gen crowns. The one on this watch is already filed down The 21j are prety stable and you can buy a new one for arround 30USD. Off topic, how is it going in Texas? Any trouble with the fire?
  7. So I bought the best 5513 version from Josh with 21J movement for 118 USD plus shipping. It is a kind of replica from the MBW 5513 and has even "POLEX" between the lugs. As the MBW it accepts a gen crystal. I was lucky to find a used 25-19 crystal for 40 USD. I had to sand down the botom mm of the crystal to have the retaining ring fit. The crown is to thick but it is pretty easy to sand it down a bit, won't be the same as a gen crown but for a budget build it can do. The crown guards are to short and to thick, i sanded them smaller, more pointy and took a little of the case, there where the tube goes in the case, to make them a little bit longer. I had a vintagized insert laying arround and put that in the bezel. Of coarse you can vintagize the insert that comes with the watch. Then I relumed the dial. The stock dial looks ok but has no lume. The hands are ok. Here is the result for 118 plus 40 USD plus a little lume and labor. I'm not finished jet, need to do some more sanding/filing and polishing. Thanks for looking.
  8. Yes, looks like a wrong screw there. Here is an other movement and you can clearly see it is kind of sunken. Can't you trade it with an other screw in the movement. Looks like it could be a screw used to fix the movement in the case. Maybe someone changed them by accident.
  9. I measured my dial opening at 27mm. I've read some where that the gen dial is 27.5mm. This gives some hope that it might fit. Don't know if the date window aligns with the date wheel on my movement.
  10. Besides the CHS or WHS I think you have the same dial as I have. Your hands are different, mine are more off but yours are off too. Your date mag is less but probably more correct. Still both are nice watches though
  11. Just got this Explorer II white face. It is the current PT one. This one has an ETA 2836 movement with the correct hand stack (CHS). Time will tell if it was a ticking time bomb What I like on this one is: (please note that I am no expert, not at all, hence me asking for opinion here) + CHS + Nice black-ish hands and index surroundings (it is some sort of gunmetal black) + Rehaut a bit wokky but nothing to bad and I think there is enough thickness. + Great date magnification + Bezel, looks good to me Where I have some doubt is: - Color of the dial. It is white, real white. I have never seen a gen with white dial so I really like to know if it should be that white. - Position of "swiss made" on the dial. It is too high - The index surroundings, could be a that thicker but I'm not sure on this one either - Lume, could be stronger for a SL dial and hands What I don't care about is; - CG (can be modded pretty easy) - Crown (see above) - Bracelet (see above) Nice to know is that I measured the dial opening of the case and it is 27mm. Would a gen dial fit?? What I really would like to know is what our experts think of this example! Does it have potential to become a good (after modding) replica of the gen one. And if not why and if yes what need to be done. Yes, this is the same watch. It is just an effect of light and the gun color hands that make the appear steel. Thanks for looking.
  12. Hi Akira, Check your mailbox!
  13. It looks like that you are mixing vintage stuff with modern stuff. I don't think that that will work!
  14. Hmm, I don't have a Sub but maybe it counts that my SSD meets LEGO: Maybe you want to trade??
  15. Which GMT, do you have a link? Inserts do come up for sale often in the sales corner. Do you want to make a vintage GMT-master?
  16. LOL M. We think alike too. I'm just doing that at the moment.
  17. Any tips on where/how to source a 565 movement? I'm I correct in understanding that either a white or a black date is correct?
  18. Haha, Thanks. We think alike, I just did. Cheers
  19. Yes, he was! I ordered one and they are out of stock. So the Yuki case should take a 26mm dial and a push-in crown?
  20. Thanks M. Just asked Yuki and he asks 420 USD for case and dial. Looks like the stuff I bought from Ken is just cartel stuff which can be bought from the dealers and not that what I'm looking for. *edit* it is 330 USD for the case only. Is that a decent price??
  21. Thanks, the question is where to get a viet case?
  22. yes I know, and I would love to get one hence my question if a gen would fit my case.
  23. And now we are discussing this, it will come with these dials: What is your opinion on those?
  24. Thanks guy's. It is coming from Ken at Raffles time. Dial opening is 28.8mm. So bad luck here!
  25. Can anyone tell me what the dial size is? I have a case incoming an would like to know if a gen dial will fit.
