  1. What are you doing?? The DRSD is supposed to go in depth not in height! Nice pictures though, and I cannot identify one hazardous or poisonous plant at all
  2. Yes, more lume in different colors and dials to practice on are already ordered I need to tone down the glow intensity a bit. The dails glow to strong giving them a green hue when coming from bright light in a shade area.
  3. Ahh, I have a Slevin too. I wish someone in the EU could do what the Zigmeister does. I would sent mine over right away. But, let us not forget why I started this post! I'm a poor amateur who is trying to learn to re-lume with amateur equipment for his hobby. I don't want to earn money wth this.
  4. Very nice. Tell us a bit more about the build.
  5. No, just an fine oiler. I think one of the most important part is the correct mixture. To thin and it will not stay between lines to thick and it will be hard to get it on the line straight.
  6. I made some lume attempts earlier on hands and FGD dials. It went pretty well so I thought lets try it on the next level. I always ask Andy to lume my Rolex dials (and still will in the future ) because I think it really difficult to do and he does a great job. But from a hobby perspective I wanted to try it out myself. I asked Andy some directions to start with. I tried first on a old, bad, Comex dial. Result: Lume shot (not so evenly lumed ) Hmm, this asks for more practice. What else do we have? I had a MBW single red SD dial laying around. Here are the results of the second attempt: Before; (all white and no glow) After: (nice vintage color with good night glow) Lume, is getting better So, any master or noob like to comment and give some more directions how to improve? Thanks for looking.
  7. After some research on VRF it is still not 100% clear that there where at one time 5512 or 5513 with factory gilt hands. Some have what look like gilt hands but could well be corrosion/altering making this effect.
  8. Thanks Arika, I'm in the lucky position not having a dial yet. Thats why I'm asking, I want to build something that did exist some time. It is very hard to see from pictures if hands are just aged and look gold or where supposed to be gold.
  9. I love gilt dials and golden hands on a watch. I have a 5512 watch ready to be modded. So the question is, did a 5512 or 5513 gilt dialed Rolex ever came with golden hands?
  10. I paid for my small font replacement bezel inlay only 50 Euro from the bay. I missed an other one, that has been sold for 52.71 Euro.
  11. First congratulations on your wedding. Second, we need better pics Sounds very cool what you did to them and I really like the idea behind it
  12. No, not really. Most people take a 1655 and convert it into a 1675. If you do a search on the 1655 you will find a lot of post about the conversion.
  13. Yep, I have the same feeling. They always look bigger on someone elses wrist than on my own.
  14. You can check the German Rolex forum or one of the other main watch forums like WUS or TZ, etc...
  15. Nice watch. The plexi will probably fit without modifications. The crown will need a new tube.
  16. The 1680 gets all the wrist time here.
  17. I really like this one (the watch and the picture that is)
  18. Haha, the crown on the cartel dial made me laugh. Great write up and pictorial Chi. Thanks a lot.
  19. Vlydog, is it a MBW based Franken? Gen crystal, gen insert, gen movement or at least gen date wheel?
  20. The crystal was purchased of ebay. Here is some more 1680 *orn with gen crystal and gen insert.
