  1. Yep, that is true. In my case I went for the "just back from RSC" look.
  2. Yeah, I know about the gasket, it wasn't there on my 1680 either. I'm not sure if I will do the case work on the MBW 5513 myself or ask Andy to do so. He did a very good job on my 1680. Just looking for a cheap watch to mess around with. Thanks for your comment and great work you did on the CG.
  3. Your right and I have a MBW on order with Reg . It is just that while waiting for the MBW I wanted to start modding a less expensive example to practice on. I think I will go for a "best version 5513" from Joshua. Anyone has experience on this one?
  4. Very true, it is not easy to capture it in pictures.
  5. Should be suitable for modding though. So the rehaut opening should not be to big, a gen or gen like dials need to fit. It will need to have gen like bezel and retaining ring so a gen crystal will fit. I've been looking around but I'm not sure what to get. Thanks in advance for any input.
  6. Yes gents, I totally agree with you. IMO the best upgrade you can make to a vintage Rollie.
  7. ...... Hell yes! I just repaced the MBW crystal with a gen 127. What a difference. So much more clarity. I tried a Clark 127 a few weeks back but my watch lost its WR. So I did put back the original MBW it came with. It was ok but having a 1665 and a PN Daytone with both gen crystals there was just something wrong with the 1680. This post would be worthless without any pictures, so here we go: With MBW crystal With gen 127 I'm sure my pictures will not show what I see and feel after the change but believe me it is worth much more than a gen crystal costs.
  8. That is how I do it all the time.
  9. Thanks for the heads-up Andy. Just bought a few.
  10. The retaining ring of the crystal was out by a fraction of a mm. When I pushed it back ( with force) it touched the dial an misformed it a bit. The dial is now not straight anymore but curved, althought only a bit. The curvation pushed the second hand off and got the day wheel stuck. I will send it to Andy to do his miracles. Just in case it is not possible to use the dial anymore, where can I buy a new one? Thanks for looking.
  11. Very nice. A gen insert and a gen crystal works miracles. Beter upgrades than a gen crown IMO. Wear it well.
  12. Funny, I did the same thing today with my 1680. I had a very nice faded inlay. But since I already have a 1665 with the same sort of inlay and I could get a gen inlay with Luminova pearl cheap I have decided to change the look of my 1680 to a more "just back from RSC" look. Here is the old 1680 (together with his big brother the 1665) Here is the "new" 1680
  13. Good job on the cyclops. Maybe an option for lot of people. What UV glue did you use?
  14. I use Drano Power gel. (kann man in jeden Supermarkt kaufen) But don't put it in longer than 1 minute at the time. Than wash it of and (this is very important) whipe it of. Start all over again till you have the color you want. Than finish it of with a cape cod polish.
  15. Real cool. One of my favorite rollies I had as a gen. Could you give an estimate in price for your build?
  16. Most parts can be sourced on ebay or here in the sales corner. Don't know if the yuki dial will fit the joshua case. Please plan a decent inlay as well.
  17. Very nice HikeUSA. Love your pearl, what is it?
  18. I love this topic. Here are my modded 1665 and 1680.
  19. The one I just bought has an other clasp. The coronet is 1/3 from the edge of the clasp! Is this correct? Where there two versions of the clasp?
  20. Great looking piece. I want one back now. Hmm, will start getting parts after my holiday
  21. Thank you Nanuq. Hope I did not pay to much at 112 Euro!
  22. I just bought a 7205 rivet bracelet with 60 endlinks. Does anybody know if this will fit my DW 6263? What would have bin a good price to pay for it? It looks like it has a bit of stretch and only 11 links. It was quite an inpulsive buy
