OK, these vintage Daytona's are dangerous LOL.
I had a Paul Newman a couple of weeks ago but decided to sell it because I thought I could not pull off a +25K watch!
Wrong!!! I can, or better, who cares!? So last week I got my second DW Daytona and I am already thinking of an other one
What you guy's think would be a good addition to the on I already have? I was thinking of a white dialed one. But I want to know which one did pull you over to the dark side of the Daytona's??
Here is a pic of my current one.
Just finished some mods for today and since the sun came out I made some pictures.
Daytona, is stock from DW.
5513 is a Joshua moded with gen crystal, relume, CG shave, bezel insert faded and lug holes drilled.
MBW 1680 is modded with Clark crystal, relume, bezel insert faded/altered (need an other insert, don't like this one), lug holes drilled. (needs CG shave)
Thanks for looking.
I have to disagree on this. I have found numerous of gen vintage Rolex pictures where they have flat hands too.
check this one: Flat hand 5514 on ebay.
Looks good to me. Of coarse it has some flaws but they are only minor. I like the lugholes.
But I think you will end up with two Explorers II. Your watch will be released by the NYC customs. I had a watch and some other stuff at NYC customs for more than 2 weeks each.
I found out (the hard way) that some inserts can't be bleached. The just loose there paint but don't turn lighter in color like those so called ghost inserts.
It is just try and error till you find the right insert. MBW and the PT 1680 are till now the ones that worked for me. Clarks and Joshua's 5513 didn't work at all.
I have two MBK/MBW watches incoming. Reg sourced a MBW 5513 on a rivet bracelet and a 1680 for me.
They where shiped today, so they will be here arround Thursday.
Can't wait to start modding both. I have a clear view what to do with the 1680 but don't know what to do with the 5513 yet. I love gilt dial and hands and will probably look into that direction.
So, what have you incoming?
Worked all day on the crown. Wanted to install a gen crown and tube but ended screwing up 2 tubes and the gen crown.
Had to put back the old crown and tube for now, till I get the proper tool.
It looks good on a NATO too.
Well, thank you
I spent half a day fitting a gen crown. But without the proper tools you won't get the new tube in decent. I screwed up 2 tubes and it still is not 100% correct. So I just ordered the right tool for it and a couple of new tubes.
