  1. Search chrono24 or eBay, can be found for around what our Frankens go for. By fashion maker I was thinking of the fact that their line is a available at department stores such as Macy's.
  2. Thanks guys, it is an awesome watch. Sadly it is a discontinued model, but can still pick it up online new or used as I did.
  3. Just thought of something that might be of use as far as inserts go.... A while back joeyB made some nice Pepsi inserts out of lexan, maybe he could make one to fit the Ocean7 but was less domed?
  4. Looks good, I like the hand swap for sure. Not much of a sword hands guy myself either....
  5. +1 on the SO. choose from the dealers listed here on the forum, to each their own. Every one has their favorite, it's kind of like asking which store do you prefer to buy Dial soap? Just about every dealer can get the exact same watch, each charge differently and might or might not offer different services to justify the price difference. Very few of the dealers actually have any stock onhand (some do for "specials" or for EU drop shipping) so they all get what the maker has when they make the watch to fulfill your order. Read the dealer reviews in their respective sections to get a feel for which dealer you want to go with.
  6. Looks great, I can't pull these off but they are great looking for those who can!
  7. Thanks for sharing, I love finding out about watch companies making more than just a straight forward homage. I think that I might have to add this to my list of future purchases...
  8. Thanks, I felt drawn to this version with the carbon bracelet and sides....
  9. The links are actually five pieces, two brushed outer pieces, two polished pieces that flank the center carbon fiber. It looks and feels like actual carbon fiber as opposed to an overlay, and it is a 90 deg angle weave pattern. The carbon fiber does not compose the entire mid link, only the top portion. The portion next to the wrist is SS, imagine two "C" sections [ ] that are put together. It is bigger like an oyster link but pivots very much like a president band, so it is very conforming to the wrist and quite comfortable.
  10. Thanks and yes it is Gen, I don't think they have rep'd these. I know that they have rep'd the Chrono Nabucco....
  11. Just got it in the mail yesterday, nice watch with very nice wrist presence. I have been wanting one of these since Nikki6 posted pics of his a while back. I could not swing for the chrono like his but instead fell in love with this GMT with carbon fiber. This is a nice attempt at a sports watch from what I think of as a fashion watch maker. Nice size at 44mm, nice beefy bracelet, 200m water resistance, huge screw down crown and loads of carbon fiber. The dial is really simple and lacks the clutter some have. Lume is nice and I like that they put the date at 4:30 so to not disrupt the pattern of the indices. The chapter ring has 120 tick marks for minutes plus half minutes with the luminous rectangle markers at every five minutes with non-luminous Arabic 12 and 6 numerals. The bezel on this and the Nabucco "dive watch" are fixed, that helped make my mind up to get the GMT.
  12. Try here: http://www.steveostraps.com/ He's in UK, I had him make me a custom strap for my Rollie build and it was $55 including buckle and shipping to the US.
  13. I've reade that the general idea was that Rolex didn't want to loose sale from the rolex brand to the tudor brand. Years ago when tudor was sold in the USA the two lines had more similarities than they currently do. I've also read that tudor is to come back to the USA this year...
  14. Nice, tasteful pics a couple that I hadn't seen before thanks for sharing.
  15. So it looks like they shut the entire thread down on WUS since it is not a Steinhart watch any longer and removed any mention of it as an Aramar watch since he doesn't have a proper sub-forum. Best I can tell its the same watch with Aramar on the dial?
  16. If you had thousands laying around... You probably would need millions laying around to be able to buy gens with the same disregard some on the forums buy reps. Say you make 100k a year and say you buy 1-2k in reps a year you still at only 1-2% of your income. To be able to buy the same in gens as you did reps you'd probably need to make about 2 million. This presumes avg rep of $3-500 and translating to about $8k per gen for about 6 or so watches a year. Loosey goosey math but you see the point. So, buy gens, buy reps have a mix of reps and gens. Just buy what you like and enjoy!
  17. I think that is the new noob sub...
  18. More often than not a rep bought from one of the dealers listed on this forum will make it to you and have no issues with customs. That is at least my expirence, I have bought a few from dealers in china others that have bought many can chime in with their experience. You should also read the reviews of the dealers on this forum, many before you have bought and left their feedback for others to read. If you want a dealer that is in CONUS, there is BK (mostly Rollie some Pam) and TC (only Rollie). Other way is to buy from off the sales section here from a member that is stateside.
  19. Now, if they were to redesign the sub to be in a similar case shape as the 216570 I'd be all over it. But then again I'm probably a target demographic for the "modern" Rolex. But I really don't like the 116610, fat lugs make it look ugly!
  20. MD is in Chicago, which is only as far away as your local post office.... Good guy, good service, good prices, finding someone local would be possible but for me that would involve probably a 1-2 hour drive and with price of gas mailing is much cheaper option for me.
  21. Yup, it must be some magical fairy dust they sprinkle on at the AD! Seriously, take a stroll thru a Rolex dealer, the watches just sparkle! I mean even an Air King looks awesome in the case!
  22. Ok, so I have an Oris Aquis Date at 43mm by 13.5mm it sits nicely on my wrist. Also My Rolex Milguass at 40mm by 13mm sits very nice on my wrist, I've also got a Tag Heuer Link Chrono at 42mm by 16mm sits with very nice wrist presence. That DSSD is just proportioned odd, the bracelet, even at 22mm SEL, looks so small on that 44mm by 18mm hunk of a watch. Like I said, I'd be all over it if it was a bit thinner, 14-16 and it be on my wrist for sure.
  23. So, a co-worker brought up his DSSD for me to look at and when I tried it on it looked ok size wise but couldn't handle how awkward it looked due to its thickness. I also have smaller wrist but I have 42 and 43 mm watches but not any of my watches are 18mm thick! I would be all over these if they were a reasonable thickness.
  24. AR makes these look sharp! That and a bit of matte clearcoat to the dial and super nice!
