  1. Mike it's no surprise to hear that you own any watch, how many is it that you have in your collection? 1,000? What I am surprised to hear is that you own it, remembered that you owned it, could find it and then took such good picture of it! Edit: oh, and that it's still wrapped in plastic.... 1st step is recognizing that we have a problem... Haven't made it there yet, I'll let you know if I ever do!
  2. over on WUS there is a comparison between the ETA, Seagull and the Hangzhou. The review is from a few years back but shows the differences and or improvements that the author found while doing a complete breakdown and pictorial review. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f72/how-do-seagull-hangzhou-compare-eta-depth-look-216945.html Edit: the comparison is specifically for the 2824, I'm sure the conclusion would be similar for the 2836. The reviewer ranked them from top to bottom, ETA, Hangzhou then Seagull. He did say if he was to use one of the two clones on a mass scale to make a watch he'd go with the seagull. Interesting read with a lot of time and effort put into the review. I think either way you go you'd be fine, big thing effecting you is which mvmt can you get and at what price are you willing to pay? Many of our reps come with either the seagull or the hangzhou but not guaranteed which one.
  3. Is that Revenge? If so they use cheap sterile type watches as their props, Emily's watch from her father is a cheap 21j Asian sterile sub homage. So this is probably some sterile cheapie from the likes of Price Angels or some similar place.
  4. Great job, now you'll be up to frakening yourself an entire watch in no time!
  5. A bit, but not for long. Live and learn...
  6. likely to cost you about $100 more or less for a basic service. A new 2824 would cost at least $100 for an clone (likely in need of a service just like the one you have) or about $200 or more for an Swiss ETA (likely in need of service aswell). The point is most of the suggested things to do with a rep start with a service. It's like an oil change for your car but for your watch.
  7. My favorite purchase of the year had to be my Oris Aquis Date. It is a great blend of tool watch (with it bulky bracelet links and superb clasp) and fit and form (with the polished outer links and ceramic bezel that slopes up to meet the slight domed crystal). Plus it opened my mind to wearing a watch larger than 42mm.
  8. Get the YM from TC and be done with it, they about the only version available at the moment afaik. I have a BK WM9 which is pretty much the earlier version of TCs and it is amazing. Probably the best Rolex rep I've ever worn.
  9. Congrats and welcome to the insane ward, I liked watches before I joined and had a few and then I joined and have many more! I had one of BKs V1 c-sub and sold it to get one of his BK TW subs. Now I'm thinking I might want a V2 BK C-sub. Could always use another black divers watch in the box.... It's possible to base one's collection almost entirely around black dialed dive watches right?
  10. Nice watch and welcome to the forums! The comparison between the 16610 and 116610 shouldn't be to make comparisons rather the contrasts. They are different in most every way except for the base movement. The bezel rotates using a different mechanism hence the different feel and sound. The weight on the 16610 is lighter due to the hollow bracelet and the stamped sheet metal clasp. The TC is pretty spot on afaik, minor tells that would take an expert to spot (like most of the guys on the forums). Both reps are gen style construction true to their gen model counterpart. Congrats and wear in good health!
  11. The only thing worse than trolling our sales section is trolling the sales corner at WUS. To a of great watches at right about $5-700.
  12. If you guys like the Barron you should check out the Deep from Raven. It's 44mm with a domed sapphire, sapphire bezel, no crown guards and an 8mm crown, oh ya it's WR to like 4000 ft... Seeing these pics make me want to send the bezel and crown from my Deep off to have a DLC coating put on.
  13. Mike, you changed your avatar?!? You go away for a few days and come back a changes man....
  14. Outstanding read, thanks for sharing!
  15. Ha, good one! It's a classic, hard to tell if it should be a daily beater or a safe queen! Thanks for sharing!
  16. Mike, that things only a 39mm. It'd look small on my wrist....
  17. Maybe MOAB should have "Gate Keeper" added to his member title... Thanks for all of the hard work you put in Mike, your truly a great asset to our forum!
  18. [quote name="Cromag" post="1297706" timestamp=" Testing for cesium 137 would have saved him a lot if headache.
  19. I've used a sellita before but didn't try to interchange parts, same with Seagul. I think the moral of the story is that these are Clone movements not 1:1 copies. Overall they are a 1:1 swap but not necessarily the individual parts, but we knew that with the Asian clones so not much different to be expected with a Swiss clone.
  20. Interesting, so with replica wines do you let them breathe more or less than with gen wines?
  21. Wow, that's impressive! I can almost tell its winter because my grass is slightly less green...
  22. It could also read Custon Strap Guy... This is just a way the dealers can try to keep the payment guys off of their back, payment is processed thru the shell website that trusty owns and just manually links the payment to the watch site. It's safe, trusty it one of the dealers on this site.
  23. It's probably on par with many other fashion watches afa durability goes but as said can return it and spend a few more bucks and prob get a better watch.
