  1. That's good info Brother. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Welcme to the Forum. If it's knowledge/information/advice and opinions you're seeking you'll find it here. (this place is packed with priceless info based on years of experience.) I'm not aware of anyone that does Omeg's like BK does Rol's but search around....there are many here than have Frankened the PO's and they're awesome. The first and foremost thing you'll want to hone to perfection is "patience"..It's a necessity in this hobby. Have fun and enjoy
  3. I've did some looking and asking around. Based on my findings I'd say if I were going to build a Super Franken, non-holed 16610 using a gen mvt and dial I'd opt for a Sean case with gen bezel assembly. While a gen dial will fit the TC case, it seems the dial opening in the sean case is exact for the gen dial. (that makes for an easier install and a more secure dial) It's safe to say that if you're going with a gen mvt. you'd go all gen everything with the exception of the mid case. Expensive build (no doubt) but it would certainly be a one of a kind and it sounds like a very fun and gratifying project. To me a build like that with everything gen but the case would essentially BE a gen. But that's just what I would do.....IF I could afford to....which I can't. A build like that would mean more to me than any gen I could buy. It's all about the journey, my Brother......not the destination (though the destination "would" be very rewarding. Please do keep us posted on your choice and progress.
  4. Thanks for the comps guys but I'm a newbie too. I'd be interested in learning where the Sean case makes the extra depth/height to accept a 3035. It looks to me as though the 3035 designed cases get the needed room by a shallower rehaut and a deeper, more concaved case back. It plain to see the sean case has a gen acurrate 16610 depth of the rehaut. How is the inside of the case back cut ?? Or will a sean case even accept a 3035 ?
  5. That's good info Doc....thanks. Any idea if the SEL on the 93250 is shaped exactly like the 593 end piece ??
  6. I don't think so. Both are spun off a case designed for the 3135 The 3035 mvt is thicker .
  7. I've read more than once that greasing the gasket is a no-no. But I apply a very thin coat to the inside of the retaining ring when I use gen gaskets.
  8. Really ?? Can you point us in the right direction. I've tried that route with a gen Link Chronometer (WT5110) That didn't work well for me. They said they needed the watch and they had to install the dial I was after.
  9. GREAT looking build Stilty. Do you still have it Brother. Tried to PM you but your box must be full.
  10. That DW was a bugger to find. The gen 3035 progressed opposite of the eta mvts. You'll need a gen 3055 or 3135 to use with an eta But it seems some of the reps offered with open 6's and 9's are comming centered. Perhaps ask sneed12 about these.
  11. If you find gen Tag crystals anywhere, please let me know. Out of all the brands of gen parts I've sourced and attempted to source I find Tag heuer parts to be among the most difficult.
  12. I think it's 1.8mm crystal = 2.7 gasket 2.0mm crystal = 2.5 gasket And 1.8mm crystal on Exp.II and GMT II = 2.3mm gasket
  13. GREAT info Red. Thanks for the comparison 2824 is closer to the 3135 2836 is closer to the 3035 Good fitting dial to rehaut will depend on the OD of your dial and the dial opening size in your case. Typically the gen dials measure 27.3mm or so. Movement ring.....good question but I'd think the ring TC uses would work
  14. Exactly. I tried the gen bezel ring on the TC crystal ring....same results. The TC retainer has a larger OD. Fortunately I have the gen retainer too. The Clark bezel is a noticable improvement over the TC. Mine took a gen insert just fine but had the same problem with retaining ring height. BUT...my TC took a gen insert without any problems at all so as stated, the issues vary from piece to piece. For the price you could consider trying the Clark.....you may just get lucky http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bezel-S-S-with-crystal-retainer-and-click-spring-16610-16800-Sub-for-Rolex-/251122622813?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a7813215d
  15. Beautiful piece...great work RA
  16. That looks Awesome RA. I'd love to know where the date wheels or overlays are comming from.
  17. You're right. The 593's came on the 16800. But aside from the number are they all shaped the same ?? It's the correct conture of the lug shape I'm after. The lug shape will have to be addressed....I certainly don't want to shape the lugs to any one specific curvature. I'd guess they're all the same....yes?
  18. Turns out the crown I picked up is a 24-700 Now I'm stuck with a NOS 24-7020 tube and 24-700 crown I can't use Thanks for the info Freddy.
  19. Great info Gavidoc. Are there any differences in the curvatures of the different end pieces used...ie 501, 504, 593 ?? (and I wonder if the curvature is the same as the 93250 SEL ) I'll be going with the 93150/ 593 end pieces if I can source a good quality Bracelet. (gen would be great but they're so $$$ )
  20. Hmmm...that does indeed look like a very good case
  21. There's a few gen 16600 inserts listed on VRF
  22. Confusing. I have a gen 7mm crown that screws right onto the 703 but only down as far as the outer o'ring. What crown would that be ?? (the 24-7020 tube won't even fit in it.)
