  1. This was one of the harder parts to get. I had to get it through Otto Frei's TZTOOLSHOP website. http://www.tztoolshop.com/page30.html the one you're looking for is A7636A. What I did - if I remember is order all the other parts online, and then call in and ask them to add the A7636A date wheel, or just do it all over the phone...

THANKS. I've got tools comming and parts soon to be ordered. If I hit a snare along the way, I'll be giving a shout.

  2. On the 5th generation 42mm PO, can the gen bezel be installed without changing the rep crystal to a gen crystal ??

I'm considering a Franken build and while it's been my experience that gen crystals are well worth the money for the upgrade ( Rolex) I'm questioning the gen PO crystal because I've resorted to removing the outer AR coating on the rep. I wear it daily and will wear the Franken daily and am concerned that even with the gen crystal I will end up bumping and knicking the crystals outer AR. Will the gen crystal still make 200.00+ improvement i I end up removing the outer AR coating and can the gen bezel assembly still be installed without additional mods needed i I keep the rep crystal.

  3. hopefully good friend, I really am very curious to know :thumbsupsmileyanim:

about the bracelet, I mean bracialet steel 16610, to find out if they are as heavy as the original, or bracelets are the usual light?

The TW rep Bracelet is heavier...it has solid mid links. But it's a substantial bracelet and feels VERY nice. To me it feels alot better than the gen 93250 SEL Bracelets.

  4. Thanks for the reply iRolexu, I appreciate the mod advice.

I also believe the WM9 "factory" has closed but, as i understand the situation from another forum, he had some WM9 parts left and it would seem you got one of those subs.

BK tells me the supply of the newer TWs , that he considers a worthy replacement to the WM9s is held up due to delivery of the dials and hands from China. I'm keen to order one as it seems to be the best sub rep out there . It comes with super lume.

Anyway, back to the original question, the new TWs have Rolex*Rolex engraving on what I think it's called a rehault that I understand was introduced around 2008? ( DONT PRETEND TO KNOW MUCH!).They also have the "flat" S " on the word Submariner which I thought was only used in the early 16610s?

Obviously if I'm correct, this detail conflict is a major "tell" on the rep?

    Anyway, appreciate the input.

    Cheers

You are correct regarding the engraved rehaut and the Flat "S" dial being of different time date eras. As for being a "major tell"...perhaps, but most likely only to those you hand your watch over to for close inspection: and then only to those that know enough of Rolex history to know what dial, what year, when engraved rehaut was introduced, etc.( which is probably like 1 in 50,000 people, believe it or not.) Many of us tend to fret over details that can only be seen or realized under VERY close inspection and/or under the loupe.

Easy sollution...while having the dial/hands SL'd, have the rehaut engraving removed. I wouldn't do that myself because the BK/TW is among a rare few that the engraving is actually "perfectly" aligned". That in itself is very cool...to me. And so is the "Zubmariner" dial.

  5. Nope. The Bracelet on the TW Sub is much heavier than the gen 93250 Bracelet that it replicates because it has solid mid links. Gen 93250's have hollow mid links. Regardless if your "dial source" has the "Swiss" or the "Swiss T < 25" gen dials...at 110.00 please put me down for 3 of them.

Dead tritium doesn't cost alot to have SL applied.

I'm not familiar with any 3135 clone mvt. but I guess anything is possible. It seems Angus is now ofering an LV with what's being called a "3135 clone" that seems to take a gen dial (with feet intact) and gen hands. That would also put the position of the crown (height) correct per gen.....but I have no idea whether that's substantiated yet or not.

But with the TW, I personally wouldn't consider doing that. As stated earlier, some of the members that have contributed to this thread are indeed serious Rolex rep "pros" and them advising NOT to do something is most likely backed up by truth/fact/trail and error, and IS backed up by raw KNOWLEDGE!!.....if they advise against it...listen to them. CONGRATS on the arrival of your new 16610. They really don't get much better than this ( unless viewed carefully under a loupe)

Wear it well and enjoy the fact that you have the best available. Don't sweat the small stuff.

  6. It has "happy feet" Omega logo. Tachymetre bezel is missing the dot between the 400 and 500 mark. The finish on the dial is rough, to say the very least. I don't care if the seller has 54 billion transactions. Compare the watch to a genuine, and you'll clearly see that this is a fake.

    THIS is a genuine. Compare.

    Wow....I do so stand....educated.

    Good eye...thanks for sharing the info/knowledge...BOTH you sir...and db2.

  7. Hey guys:

It's no wonder the 42mm Planet Ocean is so popular. It's simply an awesome piece.

QUESTIONS regarding 42mm PO Franken parts on a 5th generation PO

1- can the gen bezel assembly AND crystal be used together.......

( it seems I've read somewhere that using them both together requires addt'l mods as the crystal will be too tall...for perhaps the rep crystal gasket can be used or correct crystal height without preventing it from still being waterproof.........??

2- can the gen bezel assembly be used with the rep. crystal..... ?

3- will a gen bezel insert fit the rep bezel assembly...........?

If anyone that has done these Frankens mods can shead some info I really appreciate it.

  8. NIce collection thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

I have Franken built reps of the Electric Blue and Great White - among my favorite Omega's good.gif

Is there any dealers you know of that still offer the Electric Blue, Black or SM GMT with a high beat mvt. capable of making a Franken out of ??

If I'm not mistaken aren't the gen SM dials, crystals and bezel inserts the same dimensions ??

  9. Interesting! The more things change, the more they stay the same. The noob is over 5 years old and it's changed and yet some things are still the same. Your crown is too big again, original noobs had big crowns then they got smaller, closer to gen and now it's big again. The crown guards need work still, I've seen better cg's on noobs out of the box. Pearl looks decent, 4 years ago noobs were notorious for the 'zit' pearl. Date font is thin, it used to be thicker. But date mag looks ok, maybe a tad strong. Crown on the clasp is typical noob, could be a little better, but it is what it is. I've heard the new batch of noobs are back to weak lume, it wasn't too bad 5 years ago, but it has never been stand out. SN is M092117- yep that's the 2nd gen noob w/ rehaut engraving

Nice pics and enjoy your new watch. With a smaller crown and a little trimming of the inside cg's, it could look pretty good.

Here's a whited out pic of my old beat up noob, 4 years ago.

    P1000210-1-1.jpg

trimmed the cg's, installed a gen crown and AM tube

    WM pearl,

    note the thicker date font

it was a good beater in it's time, and was WR.

Now days it's been replaced by a Euromariner

What exactly is an "AM" tube ?

Will it go into the Noob case without having to do any mods to install it ?

And when going to a gen crown can the rep stem be used or is a different stem needed ?

  10. CONGRATS TO THE FRANKEN 42mm PO's. !! Those look GREAT !! I've got the 42mm 5th gen (from Lay) and want to go Franken with it. My clasp spring broke, so a gen from ofrei fixed that. The gap between the SEL's and first bracelet link bothered me too..gens from ofrei solved that too. My crown/tube threads stripped out. I pull the crown and stem out and gently squeezed the tube into a slightly "oval-egg-shape" and this allowed for some "meat" to screw the crown back in to lock....holding for right at 2 mos. now. Packed silicone gease into the crown seal and locked it down...showers and sinks...no problems yet but I'm needing to go gen with the crown/tube...and everything else except the mvt.and case.

"db2"...I've sent you a PM sir. :victory: CONGRATS again on the Frankens, guys. AWESOME. AND....about 1500.00 less than a good preowned 2201.50....NICE !!! :victory:

  11. Mind if I ask why you feel this is a fake Speedmaster ? I'm not seeing anything wrong with that watch...and that cerainly "isn't" a fake mvt.

With almost 54,000 transactions (many of watches selling for 4 times the current bid of this one) and holding 100% feedback WITH A THREE DAY MONEY BACK OFFER....I have to ask why you think that.

  12. Well so far I actually find ANGUS's explorer II to be the best with correct hand stack ect ect and the attention to detail you guys are talking about is something only .0001% of the general population is really going to know and over-all I just want a solid dial and nice looking hands. my concentration right now are on my Datejust builds using gen case, gen dial, gen crystal, gen crown and tube, ETA and rep band :)

PT's does look very good...I agree. You may want to read up on the CHS versions. I'm no expert but I've read that some of the CHS mvt's. are potential timebombs. :pardon:

  13. id say the value depends on the retaining ring construction. if its the ring with the groove for the nylon gasket it would low 100. if its like the 1:1 ring with proper fitting insert and no nylon gasket id say $150-$180 shipped

When I first acquired it I thought to be junk as the engraving between the lug said "polex".

But way back then I tried a gen insert and it fit very well.

This is the insert I put in it and the fact that it fit was the only reason I never scrapped the case.

It seems not many rep models can take gen parts.
