  1. Seems like you already have the gen insert, so just lean back and enjoy this mate! Looks really good - and as always when it's you a great photos too.
  2. Big thanks also from me cc! You should go ahead and make a definite sticky thread on the subject
  3. Merry X-mas guys! Still red for me:
  4. The Panerai OP II calibre (afaik what is still used in the 005s) is based on the ETA 6497-2 movement. The most quoted difference between the -1 and the -2 is that the latter has a beat rate of 21.6kbph (as opposed to 18kbph). There are many differences between all these named movements, but I'd say they're subtle... I would be happy with your movement!
  5. Well, as the oem 005N movement just sold on VP for (listed price) $1600 I guess there you have the answer to the question in the OP
  6. Would it be worth those $$$$ behind that closed caseback having something that's functionally more or less the same?
  7. Merry Christmas friends! Hope you all have something nice waiting under the tree...
  8. Looks like nearly all produced HH cases will have gen dials in them soon... Great work gathering parts and getting this together with a coherent feel!
  9. +1, you can scan youtube for easy step by step guides
  10. Ah, and that Yuki dial will fit basically all movements. Either use dial dots or make custom feet for your movement of choice. And if going franken case... Get a custom bezel from member jmb and a 25-22 plexi (clarks, gs or gen).
  11. Welcome to RWG! Ambitious start The 160x used 1560/1570 movements, so those will fit. Given that you're intending to use a Yuki dial, are you however sure that you need to put out $$$ and insecurity for the old vintage gen movement? I would at least recommend you getting a movement ring for say a slow best eta movement. I have a 16013 midcase for sale here btw if you're interested, think it would be way better than a 5500 case at least...
  12. ^^Well spoken, enough said - now go build this Tom
  13. Man, you do keep yourself busy! Very curious about that one
  14. Earlier models also have the straight 4.
  15. Sorry to hear! Very common issue after shipping and an easy fix for any watchmaker or the hobbyist having experience of decasing movement/dial/hands set.
  16. Awesome! Glad to see you've left hoarding phase mate and moved onto assembly. A special one index this is and I'm really looking forward to updates

Great work with the case thinning!
  18. Darn, you just made my caseback worthless Pete! No, honestly, am very very grateful for this text above - was some time since I learned so much in 5 minutes about Panerai! Sure glad guys like you take time to learn the mortals. Anyone with a photo of a gen 209 cb? Below mine from Jakob:
  19. Don't know if I've ever seen a more ambitious (and guess expensive) project. Well collected! Needless to say, it looks bloody darn great. I can't stop looking and will go to bed extremely envious.
