Thanks. I still need to work on my dial but she photographs well. I have gathered together a bunch of the pics to give to Dazza from the one you recently sold. I think with a little bit of his magic this piece will finally be complete. Then I just need a great crystal to show off the new dial work when that is done.

Just noticed my date is ahead by a day! [emoji12]

No problem. Do you know how they compare to WSO springbars? The Ebay ones I mentioned have flat tips so I ended up not ordering them. I'm using my Yuki bars for the time being, which actually aren't that bad after all. I think it's just my leather strap that is interfering with how they sit. When they are installed in the watch head alone they look fine.

No more vintage Rolex made by factories ?
Mendota Explorer replied to cousin_hub's topic in The Rolex Area
So are the 1680 and 6263. After some follow-up over on another board, it sounds like the point of this thread is we have so many options with out of box modern pieces but not with vintages. There are revisions after revisions put out for modern pieces, for example. -
Wow! That is fantastic! Just beautiful.

Somebody need a nice gen 7205 cheap?
Mendota Explorer replied to Beachcomber's topic in The Rolex Area
LOL! What watch used the 7205? A dress model? -
Nice 6263!

Yes, I would definitely take the red depth dial 6538 that cc33 and Droptopman have over this. To be honest, it is probably a lot cheaper to build the 6538 than it will be to buy this one. At least with the 6538 there is direct history there. This one is a homage. Then again, I also agree that it is a good thing to see homages like this. If money were no object I would get both. This one could withstand daily wear being made from modern caliber parts. I signed up for the email list. Let's see how this plays out! [emoji2] [emoji106]

I think it looks fantastic. Will it be in limited quantity, ie way too expensive to justify? OK, I just read the site. Looks amazing. It looks like there is engraving on the caseback. Any shots of the back? In the profile shot you can see a little bit of engraving but I can't make out what it is.

Wow. What a fascinating write-up. Sounds like he was a really neat and interesting person. RIP

^ One of my cousins in Norway is married to one of his former secret service detail. I don't know if he traveled with the family but for sure he was with them at the palace and around locally.

A member over on Repgeek just posted that he read the threads on RWI and Silix is closed until end of July. LOL Facepalm... Nowhere in any thread has anyone ever mentioned the month of July over there. Where on Earth do people come up with this this stuff? Seriously. [emoji12]

Nice touch with the vintage case back sticker! Where did you find that?

Thursday the 14th May wrist check
Mendota Explorer replied to astonjenks's topic in General Discussion
LOL, I'm a nerd. How do you like it? Any major issues or annoyances? The gauges and the steering wheel helped me guess. I'm looking to replace my Saab 9-5 Aero wagon with an SUV in the next couple of years and I've always liked Porsche cars. I see Cayennes all over the place where I live so I've been casually looking at them. I have 3 little boys 7 and under, though, so I'm not sure if it would have the room I need since it doesn't have a 3rd row. -

Nice story. Thanks for sharing! Very sorry to read about the passing of your mom. My wife lost her mom 3 years ago to an aortic aneurysm. 58 years old and it was completely out of the blue. One moment here, another moment gone. They say that time heals all wounds, but I wonder if this is true. In some ways it becomes more painful as time goes on because your life has moved on and you have more time to think about the memories that our loved ones have missed out on, such as children being born, children growing older, special moments in our lives that we would want to share with them, etc. They have missed out on experiencing these moments with us. I think with time maybe we are better able to set the pain aside and not let it consume us, but I don't think it ever goes away. I had always lusted after the submariners due to my love for the James bond films growing up. I would walk past the windows and just drool over them. I will always have this regret and I am still kicking myself today for making this mistake: Back in 2002 I was determined to buy myself a Rolex for my 30th birthday. I had just found a website called Timezone and I started checking the place out. I saw the Explorer 1 and I fell in love with it. That was what I was going to buy myself. They were only $2,200 and I had made up my mind. Literally the week that I was going to do it, I went back online and found, to my horror, an article written by a douchebag hack who proceeded to rip the watch to shreds. Here was a Rolex expert bashing the very watch I was going to buy. Long story short, I never bought it and at the time I thought a submariner was too large for my wrist (what was I thinking?), so I bought a Sony XBR flatscreen with stand and DVD player instead. The TV is worthless but the watch would have still retained its value. It also turned out that the article was a sham and was simply not true. And now, I think the sub is the perfect size. Sigh.

I thought maybe there was another thread, so I went back to RWI and read the original thread. They are coming back next week on May 22nd. Someone posted that they had read an auto email responder that mentioned a holiday from January to February, but this was 2015. There is no mention of 2016 anywhere. Again, it sounds like some of the last correspondence from Michelle was they would be opening back up on May 22nd. That's next week. My understanding is the lack of thorough communication with admins and customers about the break is the cause of the slap on the wrist. I think we need to let the dust settle and see how this plays out. When they come back from their break next week and are in their new office, once customers start getting responses to their emails and admins can sort this out, then we can come to conclusions.

Where on RWI is the thread? Which section? I cannot find it anywhere.

Whoa! What's going on? I thought they were opening back up on May 23rd or something?
