  1. Such a slow process.. It has taught me to have patience if nothing else! The dial plate is prepped and ready, it will be a few weeks before I get to see how that turns out (I'm sure well) I've recently purchased another gen bezel so I don't have to keep swapping the only one I had between the 6200 and 6538. As soon as I have the dial I will update with pics, it's going to be a 3-6-9 dial with no depth rating or submariner text.
  2. Thanks Y! Yes gen, couldn't pass on a great price. Yours held up well!
  3. Nope! Haha I too would take these over "those"
  4. Great insight I've always wondered about that Thanks!
  5. Looks a lot better, just work on the depth like you mentioned and you've got it nailed
  6. I'm doing one but I need an older a296 movement for the 6200 build. Someone should grab this!
  7. That's great, so most everyone can enjoy it no matter what phone they have. It's really great because of the way it gathers articles from all those diff places. I did see the RM monochrome Drop, what a cool watch, my fav from them is the nadal The coolest (modern) sports watch in existence as far as I'm concerned. 19grams and can withstand 5000 g's.
  8. Great app for iOS, not sure if it's in the android market.. Gathers all articles from major watch blogs and sites for free.

    "Going gen"

In my case, the only ones I've ever built were vintage daytona's and big crown subs from the 50's.. It's very satisfying to source parts and gather them up, also to talk to other collectors and make relationships in the gen world. The parts aren't getting any cheaper so I'm really never concerned with getting my money back, if I can't sell it to an enthusiast I can part it out quite easily.. Mixing rep and gen parts is inevitable, not every part is available or affordable in it's gen form, and the idea is to get as close as possible. It's also nice to be able to wear my frankens, I would not wear their gen counterparts, those would have to be stored away. I can't really explain it but there's something very magical about the whole process. You either love it or you don't I guess. I'm fortunate and can probably buy a genuine 6538 if I tried hard enough but I rather make my own. I will gladly pay big bucks for a modern watch that I like, but I can't say the same for vintage Rolex's. The fact that they are tool watches and were very reasonably priced when they were available to buy from Rolex makes it very hard for me to justify spending 60k for a 300$ watch. I Just can't do it.

    "Going gen"

I love building franken's but I do always need one gen lying around for some reason, I guess it keeps me connected to that world. I'm a serial flipper, but I only like to have one max 2 gens at any given time.
  11. Let's start an ongoing thread to post cool watch videos, I found a few that I liked today, here's one
