This guy bought this dial and hands on vrm a little while ago for 1700$ and now he wants 5000$ for the hands alone with no dial.. I can't even comprehend this behaviour http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ULTRA-RARE-EARLY-VINTAGE-ROLEX-SUBMARINER-GILT-HANDS-WITH-LOLLIPOP-FROM-THE-50-/121100648854?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c32294196&_uhb=1#ht_559wt_922
  2. They both look amazing, from these pics they really do look a lot alike. Great job with the case finish

  4. Rolex needs to wake up. They could have released a new stainless steel daytona, you know the ones people actually buy and wear, instead of a 60 gazillion dollar baby blue dial monstrosity. They have so many great dial choices for the gold models, and imo they seriously dropped the ball with not updating their current ss daytona line. Who in their right mind is going to fork over the price of a new european sports car for an ugly platinum daytona? Why did they even bother? If they listen to what their customers actually want (new Pepsi gmt, updated ss daytona line, a few throwback models, etc) maybe they would be better off.. They will still sell a ton of watches regardless of what they do but I think that if they were heading in this direction back in the 50's and 60's they wouldn't have the following that they have now.
  5. You may want to ask Natalie as I suspect his case is the same as hers...
  6. They asked themselves, what would Kris Jenner wear? And then made that
  7. Yes boring and useless, tudor has a nice new model and likewise rolex introduces the black/blue gmt that looks sharp. The hottest new rolex for me is still the new blue face ym
  8. The font that the dial maker used is actually more like an early gilt 5512 dial which would also have feet for a 1530 but it's not even acurate for what it's supposed to be..
  9. Here are some genuine 5508 and 6538 dials to get a good feel for the print
  10. There's so much wrong. The dial feet are placed for a 1530 but the dial says 200/600 (5508 is 100/300), there is only one dial , a 5510 dial, that has those two features.. If he had brains he would have listed it as a 5510 dial. The printing is also off but you have to get a feel for what the proper printing should look like to be able to compare. Here's a comparison of proper 200/600 double gilt print.
  11. I emailed the seller to advise him that his dial wasn't genuine and I got no response.. Yes count yourself really lucky
  12. This is going to be a great build!!
  13. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=291884 I tried to warn people...
  14. Most of his daytona cases are tapped wrong "So from now, I will send him case tube, crystal, and pushers (if it's a Daytona case) to make sure all is working right. I strongly encourage you to do the same, until he decide to stop shipping cases what are not at the Rolex specs." That's the key, if you send gen parts and have him install them then he will tap them properly to begin with, he uses the wrong tap because that's what's needed to install his aftermarket pushers. As for the lugholes that's ridiculous, if I had that problem I would ask for a new proper one, he will make things right, even if it takes a while.
  15. It's like the caramilk secret!! I guess there is some kind of paint or pigment behind the lacquer that changes color on certain dials. Still have a lot to learn
