Have Michael take a look for you when he swaps out the hands. He likes challenges and will get that sucker auto winding again

I didn't mean the bezel just the insert, phong's bezel is amazing. I'm so glad to hear that Michael is doing well, that's exciting for him as he's really gaining popularity in the gen world for his band and watch restorations. Those hands will be awesome. I don't know about the power reserve really but it is always running the next morning. I will check one of these days how long it lasts and report back. The rotor seems fine on mine. Oh and very accurate but again I haven't checked on a machine. It's always right on with my iPhone's time.

Very nice indeed! It looks great. I don't know anything about the inner workings of the movement but I'm sure those that do will chime in soon. I want to congratulate you on a very fine piece sir and offer a tiny bit of advice if I may. Get rid of that insert. Not many people know this but all 1680 5512 and 5513 inserts fit on a 6538. Only one time I had to sand away the outer edge of one that was just too new but the other used 3-4 of them I have snapped right in and fit like a glove. The nice fat font ones come up for sale daily on vrf and some can be had for a fair price. Way cheaper than a gen 6538 insert that's for sure and nicer than a rep one obv. Aside from that its awesome. Last tiny thing would be to get Michael young cwp hands because they are more gen like, the hands should look gilt not gold, phong's are too shiny and look like gold hands. MY has the gilt thing down pat These are all 1680, 5512, or 5513 inserts except the bottom right is phong's

Thanks everyone! E, the Minh case is sold, I'm sorry. "The gen crown looks soo amazing." Thanks praetor, phong offered it to me for 400$, I had paid 800$ for my nos one, so I jumped on it. I guess he didn't realize that it was worth more. I verified its authenticity when I got it and low and behold it really is an original gen. Here's a better angle

It has to be for a 4030 zenith, they are harder to find but out there..

Some people buy dials meant for the white gold daytonas and put them in their ss case. They come up for sale on vrf some times. I'm partial to this one. Or you could go all out and find a Patrizzi dial!

I finally got my 6538 guts swapped over from the Minh case to its new home in a phong case. I added a gen crown while I was at it and managed to find an original, not a nos one. I had an original bezel already on it so the crown is a nice touch. Ill save the nos crown I have to pair with the nos bezel I acquired recently for my next build. I was mad at Minh for a personal issue when I ordered the phong case and to be honest I was doing it out of spite, however I do now realize that the minh case was kind of special in that it had a very natural, used, gen feel to it, like it had been worn and polished over many years, the bevels were barely visible and that's pretty gen like! I'm using the past tense because its gone now, off to a great guy for his build. I am very happy with phong's case and I know that it will eventually get a nice aged look after I wear it and have it polished over the next bunch of years. I am a fan of a nicely beveled case though.

That guy is a mess. He was banned from rolex forum for similar behaviour and he's at it again only this time with a "really good excuse" lol

I like denim's with the Daz treatment. I did something similar with my mq dial. He has a 300$ tier and a 1000$ tier so if that's his 300$ one that denim had worked on, then its the best option for the $ imo.

Thanks guys and ya he's super lucky. His wife is stuck on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy (3 months) and he has been having to do all the work around the house, cook, clean, and watch the other two kids. I have been helping as much as I can but I figured this would put him in a better mood. Marlin did it pretty quickly, I was 3rd in his list but when it got to my turn it didn't take long at all.

I wanted to take a minute to thank Marlin2284 for his amazing work and share a few pics with the community. He took the time to update me every step of the way and was very helpful and patient. There was a problem at one point with a batch of crystals that didn't pass muster but he managed to get that figured out and have the watch delivered on time for my brothers birthday tomorrow. A big Big thank you Marlin!! I am much smaller than my brother but if I had the wrist for it I would definitely be ordering one for myself. Don't hesitate to work with him folks he's great.

The stainless ones are service bezels, the plated brass ones came with the watches.

Now I'm seriously jealous. I now agree with you that it's the exact same thing, it's just that you commissioned them not rolex. Same difference really. Still, full disclosure was made in the auction's description so likewise if you were to auction yours off the buyer would expect the same disclosure.

Now there's a shocker, I would love to know who had the ability to get them to do it! My dial maker told me that the few really good redialers are kept a secret by the vintage elite. There are more redials going around then we like to believe. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it is disclosed. By the way Freddy that's a really really nice tog

Here's another, 3-4000$ dial I can't remember but I considered buying it when it went on sale a few months ago on vrm, now the buyer wants 17k! Shameful really. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Super-Rare-Vintage-Factory-Original-Rolex-Cosmograph-Dial-for-6265-6263-14K-18K?item=281058137438&cmd=ViewItem&_trksid=p5197.m7&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D2%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D7225083845601567170#ht_1657wt_689
