Considering all aspects of your statement, I would say that it is not a cost efficient project for many reasons. a. The RG case cost would easily buy you a nice mid to high level gen watch. With the costs of customisation, design, and of course material, you might wish to rethink this. b. You need a date overlay for the watch to look accurate for casual visual inspection. Frankly, skeleton dials have the advantage of looking messy and complicated, so unless a side by side scrutiny is done, one skeleton dial is as good as another if you do not know the intricate details. My point is: the rep dial is good enough. c. I have zero knowledge on the RM movement, but I think you are someone who likes the looks of the RM watch on the wrist, rather than the engineering. So in this case, the rep movement could serve. Looking at the 3 points raised above, why not spend effort to solve the most obvious tell, the datewheel font? Cost wise, this would be an infinitesimal percentage of customizing a real RG case for the watch?

The rep is done fairly well, and the print inaccuracy is a classic error of a lot of rep watches. But movement wise, yes the gen and rep uses exactly the same movement. Perhaps what you need is a dial replacement and you have a good "franken" The rep cost about 25% of the gen if I am not mistaken? that is a relatively high percentage but heck, this one has the same movement as the gen. May make it worth the while.

Do you remember we used to have AP divers offered with that movement? I had one (v3.5 I think) that held up pretty well!

The gen has 3 sub divisions in the 6 o'clock subdial between the longer markers. Look at this pic from the Hublot website. http://www.hublot.com/en/watches/big-bang-ice-bang. Then look at the rep pic. You will see, young padawan.

The one you are looking at is an identical watch to the one in the link I sent. Just different dealers selling the same watch. BP is just another maker, and I am unsure if they made this watch or they are offering another. Like I mentioned, you have to ask other experts.

No worries. If you are asking which I would get, it makes your question a lot easier to answer. Between the two, http://tswatchltd.co...0-28800bph.html, <------ this is the more accurate one to gen due to the tungsten bezel and the updated movement screws, as well as the date font. Note the following though: a. there is a grey/black lume on the gen Ice Bang. This is missing on most reps. b. the 6 o'clock subdial is not correct. 4 subdivisions between the numbers compared to 3 on the gen. (Very small flaw in my opinion) c. The bezel screws are stainless steel on the rep, but a darker titanium on the gen. It is however a lovely rep overall, and if I seriously like it, I would buy it and mod it to my satisfaction.

Actually, there are a lot of folks that advocate the diver as the most accurate ROO to date. I agree, but because the flaws in the ROO chronos are more obvious compared with the diver. I would recommend a modded diver, with the following done, if you want an even more accurate watch: Base watch: AP Diver V5, V5.1, V6 (differences to me are very subtle in real life. In pictures, the V6 look the best) a. slow beat modification: If you have seen the movement on the gen diver, it is a 21,600bph "ticking" vs the 28,800bph smooth sweep used in the replica. This is a subtle difference but you can spot it once you know how to. b. Bezel screws sinking: Again, something very subtle in real life, but magnified in pictures. Remember that the watch would be a 2inch object on your wrist in real life. All details become harder to scrutinize. c. Datewheel cyclops: Spot a rep by the very reflective cyclops. d. Inner bezel numbers on the stainless steel model: My friend and fellow member folex taught me about this recently and I went to do my own research. The recent versions may get closer and closer but still not perfect. There is a subtle lume border around the numbers in the gen which is absent in the rep. A minute detail but once you see it, you cannot "unsee" it. e. Waterproofing: Well obviously this is not a feature you can spot by looking at a watch. But if you wish to take the watch swimming or diving, trust me waterproofing a watch does wonders to prevent the movement from being the one swimming in the case while you swim in the pool. f. Relume: to refine the factory lume jobs in decent pieces, and repair it for atrocious models. So yes, the diver is the closest ROO you can get, but be aware of the existing flaws. Close as it may be, I have learnt to spot the rep 10ft away on the wrist.
