Is this genuine 1665 bracelet on the bay for real?
By-Tor replied to crystalcranium's topic in The Rolex Area
Doubt it. But genuine or not... who would be crazy enough to pay $865 for a lousy Oyster bracelet? -
I think Maradona's handball cheat has grown out of proportion, actually. I understand that the Brits still can't forgive him... but those two goals were just part of the soap opera that this guy has always been. And people wanted to see bigger meaning in his words... that Falkland war stuff and all... the media always endorsed it. People want legends, they want games that "rewrite the history". 1986 Mexico will always be remembered for that incident... and the Brits will always get sympathy/malicious pleasure for it. The fact that made him a "cheat" was the referee who allowed the goal. Honestly, how many professional football players have cheated and dived in the penalty area? How is that different? Sometimes the ref calls it out, sometimes not. They also celebrate these cheap goals just as much as the "good" ones. What Scumsucker did was dangerous and it was totally against the ethics of the sport. Football players have always cheated as much as they can... it's part of the game. Especially among the Latin players. @vbarrett: Consider it dropped. I probably misunderstood you. Just don't call me Norwegian, ok.

What on earth makes you think I was trying to "influence" you with the link? It's quite apparent that you have made up your mind long time ago. I posted it for fun... because it was a nice link. I thought it was something that a real football fan would appreciate. Maybe Pele was the better player of these two, maybe he wasn't. Frankly, I think it would have been potentially good, entertaining and interesting debate. You think the matter isn't debatable, and that I'm "ignorant" and "I just don't know" because I disagree with you...about some silly football player? Sounds quite immature to me. Personally, I think it's just a matter of approach... I don't think everything in this world is about competition, cheap sarcasm or lack of good manners. And pray tell what difference would it make if this discussion took place in a gen watch forum? Is this a veiled reference to the "low class" forum membership in general? I think you're trolling for flames M'Lady.

I completely agree about the dropshipping comment. I've had almost 30 reps and only ONE problematic watch, a ExpII replica with the questionable hand stack modification. Loose screws, sharp edges on the bracelet, sure. But all that stuff is easy to finish yourself. I don't buy from dropshippers. So... there must be some kind of connection.

Jon Fort nailed it. Some of your comments were utter [censored] as well. If you claim that a Swatch or Invicta is "better built" than the new SFSO you must be smoking crack.

Narikaa (UK) has a ladies' Tudor. It's not a Sub though, but ladies' Datejust. Very nice (imho). http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/regyai/al...egyai/my_photos

Installing Valjoux datewheels on an Asian 7750

Brilliant! You have a lot of guts to do these things yourself. Keep practising, and we soon have a EU-based watch repairman in the community. -
Beautiful watches my friend. It looks like you have finally built the "core" of your collection as well.

Mmm...

Debatable. Pele always had a great team behind him. The world champion team Argentina 1986 was above average at best.... and it was completely built around Maradona, who almost single handedly (no pun) won the world cup. Oscar Ruggeri was the only world class player in that lineup... Jorge Valdano was already past his prime. Maradona also captained the worst Argentina national team ever, the 1990 team, to the world cup finals. I guess I don't even have to mention what Maradona did to a nickel and dime laughingstock team of Serie A, Napoli. You should check out the YouTube footage from his Napoli era, he was insanely good. I'm not saying Maradona was better than Pele, but if you forget his chaotic personal life and cheating habits... and look at his achievements and talent objectively, I think he was just as good and dominant football player. And besides, they played in the different era of football. When Pele was in his prime football was much more offensive game, and Pele's role in the Brazilian (absolutely superb) national team was different. He was a pure forward, while Maradona orchestrated the game from the "attacking midfielder" position (a'la Zidane). It wasn't all about scoring goals. If his opponents gave him 5-10 seconds of "loose rope" he usually delivered. This is a good example from Italy 1990 World Cup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52lvd9xLhaw

Love him or hate him... El Diego is the Elvis of football. The boy who had it all (except brains). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hHhaHSaTlQ...ted&search=

Black Explorer II. Brilliant rep. 39mm.

Is that a recent pic of Maradona? He seems to be fat again. But I bet he could still run circles around the English defense.

Some of the watches have/had been modded. Just small stuff though, like new pearls etc. The GMT Seamaster had a "Bond" bracelet but I switched it back to "Speedy" because I wasn't satisfied with the fit. The MBW 1680 I used to own was heavily modded. You can read the story/review (link is in my signature).

I really like this model as well. But the reports say that the rep bracelet feels extremely cheap, and the overall quality isn't that great. I wouldn't mind a quartz, either. I wish they could make a high-end quartz rep of the quartz version of this watch.

Good old SMP for me today.

That's amazing Richard! I wore my black ExpII today. Outstanding rep.

Complete nonsense. This is an excellent thread. "Nonsense"... hmm, that's a bit gay word, isn't it?
-
Thanks mate. I traded the Tudor. Loved the watch, but the hour markers were a turn-off. They looked a bit fake... and it was really expensive rep. I sacrificed it to finance new purchases.
-
Thanks Jeff. Glad you liked the pics. More watch pr0n. Here's some "gone but not forgotten" nice pieces I've owned.

I remember David Ginola. And Maldini is a grown up man, he could easily do an ad like that without looking ridiculous. I don't have a problem with gays. Not at all... I've worked as a bouncer in a nightclub and we had lots of gay customers... some of them even became friends. Most of them were always super cool, and really professional people in every possible way. Gay people are very much respected among the bouncers in my town... they rarely cause any trouble and always behave really well. It's just the guys who are feminine and act like posers that annoy me... gay or not. "Gay" is just the general term for people like that. Just wanted to clear this up. Maybe it's just Christiano Ronaldo's antics on the field that annoy the hell out of me... his ridiculous stunts and acting makes Filippo Inzaghi look like a nickel and dime amateur. PS: I'm not from the US. They don't play real football over there. Ah well, they do... but they call it "soccer" or something like that.
-
I can appreciate a guy who's good looking and masculine. Beckham might be a "metrosexual" but at least he has some charisma. But this guy looks just... so friggin' gay. You have to be gay to make an ad like that... posing those teen boy muscles and all that... come on! Nothing wrong of being gay though... maybe it's not even the right word. This guy is feminine...and a poser.
