  1. Blue Fish for me today.
  2. Rolex blog says that he wore a DayDate in the earlier episodes. Does it look like one?
  3. I think replacing the broken movement with a new one might be better and easier solution (if it ever breaks). What do the spare A7750's go for? $150? Strange that you've had so many problems Ryaku. We don't see much negative reports about the new 7750 here.
  4. I must belong to the minority here because the 1680 wasn't for me. I tried a rep (I owned a MBW) but disliked the bulged crystal and I prefer the white gold hour markers on the 16610. I totally understand the attraction though. It's a great watch with great legacy. But for me 16610 is the perfect Sub. Actually 14060M (the modern no-date) is my favorite. If I ever buy another gen Rollie, that would be my pick.
  5. Do you mean the watch... or Don Johnson? Seriously, I think the movie re-run was crap. It captured ZERO from the original TV show, which has an unique atmosphere.
  6. I found these pics from another forum. This is the actual model that Don Johnson wore in Miami Vice (the TV show). I think it was a full gold version though. He wore a full gold Rolex Day-Date in the earlier episodes too. I think it's pretty classy watch... the bracelet is kinda hmm... original. Too bad it's only 39mm. PS: I love the show. I was only a teenager when it was aired but been watching the reruns. Besides the occasional silly looking wardrobe the show hasn't lost its appeal at all. Jan Hammer's music is incredible. He is a genius.
  7. They seem to be very good and reliable movements. I've owned dozens of A7750 and I only had one problem with a bit lowish power reserve. All others have been excellent. My oldest A7750-powered watch is now my SMP Chrono. It's 4 years old and functioning perfectly. All the bad reputation comes from the old low-beat version. It had plenty of issues... reliability wasn't good and the stopwatch had that dreaded "resetting back to zero problem".
  8. I totally agree that best reps feel 90% like the gen. But if you really love a certain watch you're willing to buy the remaining 10% for big bucks. Sense has little to do with it. If it was all about common sense, we'd all wear Seikos. PS: About Steelfish rep... never saw the gen SO Chrono but the standard Fish... I love it, it's a GREAT rep. But when you actually see the gen you'll notice rather big differences in the quality and finish. Especially with the dial & bracelet SELs, which are completely different on the rep.
  9. Looks fantastic Cats! I'm wearing the B01.
  10. I've seen some watches that have the old Noobmariner dial but inferior case and terrible wok rehaut. And some dealers are selling these as "Noobmariners". Maybe they come from the same factory but the reps are crap. Post pictures of the watch here before you purchase.
  11. Yeah that TZ.uk thread went way overboard. Many people behave like that a lot on the Internet... like little children in school, mass-bullying the weakest classmate because it makes them feel bigger. It's pretty pathetic. But then again flipping the watches for profit isn't that nice, either. Especially among the forum friends.
  12. Good observation Omega007. I missed that one. You can always identify quartz models from the wider '3 hour marker too.
  13. Thanks Mike. And no worries about missing it. LOTS of people seem to have missed it. I think old fashioned watch reviews like this are yesterday anyway. Back in 2006 they generated thousands of views and LOTS of interest, now I'm lucky if I get 1/10 of that... a few hundred. All replies come from the best forum friends and that's it. And even for that view count I have to bump it two-three times after the release. It's quite surprising. B01 might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's still one of the very few new recent replica models from the major 5 brands (Rolex, Omega, Breitling, IWC and TAG Heuer). Maybe among the top-5 biggest rep releases from China this year. But these writeups simply don't seem to interest people anymore. I'm quite puzzled why. And it's not just my reviews, it's the same thing with all other big reviews by members that I've seen recently. Some big ones go completely unnoticed. I'm not complaining at all, it's probably normal "evolution" (no pun) or whatever... maybe video reviews is the next "big thing"? Well back to the topic... I suggest you go for the black one. Blue colors are totally off (based on what I've seen). From gens the blue dial with black subdials is my #1 favorite but the rep dial color seems to be way off. I like my B01 quite a lot. Definitely nicer and flashier than the standard BCE (just imho).
  14. I think RobbieG captured it even better.
  15. Straight out of the camera 5 minutes ago. For once a FRESH wrist shot.
  16. Great price indeed! Looks to be in good condition too. Go for it man... there is no better diver watch than the Fish.
  17. Yeah the wave pattern on the gen is much stronger. Lovin' mine, it's a classic!
  18. Josh has always been a top dealer indeed. I think QC might be more economic for the dealers in the long run. I mean, it can reduce the back and forth shipping and members' returns due to QC issues.
  19. Sea-Dweller is a bit thicker than Sub, but it's not really thick. This is thick.
  20. @Ronin: I love that one. Have you tried the rep bracelet with the gen? It's the best quality rep bracelet I've ever seen and it might fit? I'm wearing the classic steel Sub today.
