  1. Contraire to above advise, I would only start a PP dispute if the purchase was a common (legal) product that you bought from somewhere like eBay. If this is a Rep part then you may be putting yourself at risk, and you PP account.
  2. Thanks all for the warm welcome, except for Jeff. @#%&*!# to you Jeff! Maybe I should rethink this new membership. Did not expect to find something like Jeff here.
  3. It is about time that I start spending more time reading here, and posting, since I usually spend time elsewhere. Anyone that frequents RWG1.1, RWI or RepGeek will possibly recognize my complications logo/avatar. The user name is a carry over from other activities and an already established PP account in that name. I have been collecting watches for about 30 years and collecting Reps for 12 years. My, how things have changed! Love these latest releases that have wooed us all for the last few years. My decision to move from GENS to Reps was driven by a desire to own MANY while I could only afford a few GENS. My collection is about 40 watches at this time but some culling should reduce that number down to around 25. They are grouped around PAMS, Rollies, APs and TAGs but everything else is in there. My current favorites that get more wrist time are: PAM 005K and 187G; Rolex DSSD, Exployer II and TC's new Sub; along with a rotation from the group of 5 TAGs. All the other are just such good examples of horological design that I just look at them but never wear them. If I need to wear a GEN then I opt for the AP Classic or for the Maurice LaCroix. Hope to get to know you all that reside here! BigBuys
  4. It will not be long now, my friends, since TC's China trip is soon closing and we can see the results of a valiant effort to improve our Subs. Thanks in advance TC!
  5. The bezel is easily removed with the correct procedure. Reinstalling it may be a little more difficult but there are tutorials available if you use your search engine. Same can be said for online video of procedures.
  6. Beautiful watch my friend. The best way to install new bezel insert is to line it up properly with the pearl correctly positioned, tilt the pearl side down under the lip of the bezel, while holding firmly and rotating the watch upside down, work both thumbs around the insert until they get to 5 & 7, then press like popping a pimple and work toward the 6. If you are unable to apply enough pressure with just your thumbs, then cover the edge of a wood table or desk with a dish towel and bring the watch up under the table top edge, protected by towel, and apply additional pressure with the protected edge against the insert. She will pop into the retainer edge of the bezel. A good cold shot of Dos Equis chasing down Don Pilar Tequila Anejo will help to steady those hands for this procedure. Stay thirsty my friend.
  7. Read feedback from previous buyers and factor that into the decision.
  8. Hello Craig and welcome to the community. I would not spend too much energy fretting about a $400 111, IF, it is a good one such as Noob 111M or N, or Hfac 111m. You did get your money's worth. My advice is to follow the lead of seasoned collectors and do not get caught up in the never ending mod scene. Appreciate them for what they are and upgrade or mod if you begin to notice shortcomings. Be slow and cautious in your purchases my friend.
  9. Let me be the first to say that sometimes the best choice is no choice at all. What I am trying to convey is that I do not always wear a watch. The impact of a bare wrist when everyone is accustomed to seeing my collection is often more of a statement than wearing the collection. This is especially true of an event such as you have described. Cotton and linen over tanned bare skin places you as a supporting part of the cast that is not attempting to compete with the groom. Be cool my friend.
  10. How could it be wrong, when it is so right?
  11. I am feeling a little blue today, stay thirsty my friends.
  12. Negotiations tonight at 8:30 pm calls for something a little more subtle, and no gold. Good day to you, my friends.
  13. Just a day for a cold beer and the girls. Barkeep, one on me for all!
  14. Real men wear gold. The Vachron Constantin Overseas.
  15. No. But I can tell you that aging my Pussy Galore did not wear her out, just made her better! Donerix, you should recognize this baby!
  16. I may be aging gracefully but never as gracefully as the Pussy Galore. The Rolex 6542 GMT aged by the king of vintage - Donerix.
  17. Every great collection has a SOHv2 in the collection, or about to be in the collection. There are occaisional v2s for sale, and I know of one at this time that could be had. It is a Blue on Blue Rubber, and the last that I heard, it had never been worn. These are truly rare birds at this point as most get wrist time pretty quickly. I wear mine but I baby it more than anything else that I own. It is Black - that is a very large window reflecting in the crystal and the LOW-e glass is colored. Did not mean to tread on your post but we all love the SOHv2! I wish that I could add something about the v3, but I just do not have any motivation to even look at it.
  18. +1 He may not be as handsome as I, but he certainly knows what he's talking about. This was not a smart move.
  19. You are in the company of like minded friends, my friend.
  20. It is certainly a relief to find that NO ONE has that kind of bad luck, my friend! One additional little knowledge packet for Noobs is that many Asian clones have relatively high internal resistance and an initial light winding of the mainspring does not provide enough torque to drive a system against the resistance. You might observe this as a watch that is dead face up, but starts running when face down. This is also true of the inverse or on either side. I have been successful with watches that exhibit these symptoms by mearly shaking them aggressively, to start them in the orientation of least resistance, and then continuing to wave them so as to wind the rotor for several minutes. Then place the watch in the position of least resistance and allow it to run for hours. Return and repeat the wave winding for a couple of days with it running continously. After a couple of days I find that I can flip the watch to the previous dead position, or wear the watch and it will continue to run without problems. When the watch runs down, you may find that is again difficult to get running but it most probably will not be dead. The internal resistance is best relieved by service cleaning and lubrication. There you have it my friends. I am not a smithy but an engineer and a watch is but a machine. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS AT HOME WITHOUT TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE OR GUIDANCE FROM YOUR MOM. THIS SOLUTION HAS ONLY BEEN PROVEN IN TWO STATES WITHIN THE USA AND YOU MAY FIND THAT IT IS UNSUCCESSFUL AT YOUR ALTITUDE.
  21. The best recommendation from where I am sitting, is a 21j version (generic for many automatic movements) of the most popular watches on the forums. Many Rep makers build what many like to call Super Reps and then offer the same watch with a MUCH cheaper movement like the 2813 or 4813. This enables a very close build to the Gen with a movement that retails for as little as $15. The Ultimate sells for maybe $400 and the 21j version sells for $150. This allows you to try different watches to find the best for your collection, without breaking your bank account. Anything found unsuitable to you can be sold readily with very little loss. When you find the ONE that trips your ticket, then buy the Ultimate version. Some of the more popular ones being: TAG Aquaracer 300 and 500M, Breitling Steelfish (SOSF) and Abyss, Omega PO 42 & 45, Audemar Piquet Diver, Hublot Big Bang, IWC Aquatimer and Ingenieur, Vacheron Constantin Overseas, almost any of the Rolex models except the one you asked about and OMG do not get me started on the Panerai - my favorite. This is just a start of the list as there are MANY MANY MORE. Now, go buy something from any of the TDs and if you do not like it, someone will buy it from you. It is that simple my friend.
