Bring it to a watchmaker and replace the crystal with a gen Rolex crystal. That is too nice to screw around with it yourself. It is a nice piece (though not all factory original, it does have later Rolex replacement parts)
Stick with the 40mm Tudor Subs. The 40 is classic, the 36 is just small.
You can find gen Tudor subs (76100,79090) for a little over 2 and occasionally a Snowflake in the low 2k range. Well worth in both watch and in resale to get the 40mm.
I think the 1680 might be the best all around. Many more collectable - though you can get in trouble with Reds - it is just the quintessential sub. Part of why I chose the slightly more cool & underground 1680 cousin - a Tudor Snowflake
My kids college fund generation project
I bought a sub bezel as a backup for a gen from him (WSO) that showed the correct picture on the auction but what was delivered was completely the wrong size and shape. He swore me up and down I was wrong even after I did side by side comparison photos. After a while I did get a refund.

Other than the usual suspects like here, Ebay, other rep sites, TRF and especially VRF - what are good sources to find gen rolex parts?
I will be hunting soon for a gen case (hard) and dial (which is not hard) and I'm hoping there are some other worthy places to check...

Last night I had it on in a dark enough room to see still a faint glow from the tritium markers and hands which I had not yet seen in the 5 months I've had it.
There are a bunch of variations on the gen dial but most of the ones I have seen have much fainter = signs between the meters and feet. Font spacing is also off as well as the actual font with the more Z like S in Sub...
