This is as good as it gets....
The best reps are still the ones that either have a closed caseback or the ones of which the gen has an ETA based movement.
I advice you to search, ask and study this forum as much as you can. You won't be disappointed with the wealth of information you can find here...
I think it depends on the model and maker. But in the past I've asked myself the same question.
I had my ultimate 111e redone by K2222 (single AR) and compared it with the standard 111h with 'AR'. The first clearly absorbs a portion of the reflections under most angles (not as spectacular as double AR from K2222) and the latter didn't do anything than having a blueish tint. I think the 'AR' on this model was a non-functional blueish coating.
I also have an ultimate PAM164 with AR. This looks like a more functional coating and it diminishes some reflections. But still not as good as on the one that K2222 did.
So I drew the conclusion for myself not to expect too much of rep coating and calculate an extra budget for aftermarket AR by Chief or K2222.
I haven't been following the topics on correct/incorrect handstack GMTs lately. But does anyone know if it's still the same GMT module build on top of a 2836 which The Zigmeister reviewed 1 or 2 years ago? That didn't look like a very reliable design......
edit: CBR was just ahead of me with asking the same, lol.
Rolli, we are dying for your pics..
By the way, does the 88 G-series need a V-CG as well? I thought they were only supposed to be correct for pre-A and post H-series Historic and non-chrono Contempory models.
I know, that's why there is a smiley, lol.
But I find it hard to find a non-franken rep which is 100% correct - even after serious modding. Maybe the SFSO indeed is the exception, but I'm not an expert on Breitling....
Funny, there seem to be 2 different dial versions of the gen.
DSN's dial has the'12' in the middle of 'L SWISS MADE L', while the regular rep dial has the L SWISS MADE L under the '12'.
Both pics are gens.
Until recently I got no problems with registered airmail. EMS arrived last week without any problems. Both my shippings via Fedex got me 2 extra invoices for import duties.
Congrats with loosing your virginity While working on my watches I've messed up many of them. Unfortunately it's part of the learning process. It differs from movement how easy or complex it is.
What movement are you talking about?
There are a couple of legendary watches that come to my mind:
- Breitling Navigator
- Cartier Santos
- Heuer Monaco
- Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso
- Movado 'museum watch'
- Omega Moonwatch
- Rolex Submariner
- Zenith El Primero
