If accuracy is important for you this is the one to go for http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=221 Also available with cannon pinion mod and fat crown. No superlume, additional aftermarket AR is recommended. If you prefer the look of the open caseback over accuracy check http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=222. Also available with cannon pinion mod and fat crown. No superlume, additional aftermarket AR is recommended. Trusty's version has an incorrect H-series serienumber on the caseback. Not sure if it has the cannon pinion mod. A very informative introductional guide for PAM reps http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...=beginner+guide In short: E = older style decorated movement (with all the paneraipaneraipanerai engravings), the dial has 'filled indices' (i.e. a dial where the indices are cut out and filled with lume). CG is older style polished SS G= same as E, but with new style (different curved shape) brushed SS CG. This is the V-CG. H = sandwich dial (i.e. 2 layer dial. Bottom layer has luminova, the top layer has cutout markers which are not filled with lume. New style CG brushed SS. New style decorated 'Cote de Geneve' engravings.

Angus is always good with after sales, but it would be better to see his QC improve so after sales won't be needed....
-
Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay! I think the PAM183 will be a nice addition
-
On the 005 the logo is wrong. On the 112 the fonts, shape of the numbers and font color is off. So both can't be modded to perfection unless someone makes the perfect dial.... So I would sell both and go for a PAM001B with a closed back and L Swiss L 'filled indices' dial (i.e. Angus's 'ultimate 111e + separate case back +AR removal). I think the B is a transitional model with both T and L dials.

Welkom bij de club/Welcome aboard, Richard! Take your time to absorb all the useful information you'll find in this great forum and I'm sure you'll find a PAM to your likings. You might wanna read this first: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...=beginner+guide

Hi Matt, welcome aboard! Please be careful not to be bitten by the Panerai bug. Otherwise you'll end up with buying a lot of reps

Great pics! But how does your sister like your reps?

Beautiful pics!!

Too bad to hear about the QC issues. You can open the caseback with a sticky ball or even with a selfmade ball from gaffer/duck tape. Then it's fairly easy to put the Swanneck at it's proper position (I had the same). You can try with some Rodico to clean the paint. I'm not sure if this will help, though. The AR sounds typically rep. I've found out that most of the single rep AR is not AR at all, but just a colored film with no functionality. You will be really impressed with aftermarket AR. Same for the 'superlume'. These are all things that can be expected with buying reps and are in the grey area of acceptable. However, the fact that the stem is not properly installed would make me wanna send the watch back and ask for a replacement..... And maybe he can send the replacement watch in a firetruck

Welcome (back)!

If you've never disassembled a watch before I wouldn't start on a 2824. Apart from possibly scratching the dial, breaking hands etc, getting the stem out and back without damaging the keyless works is a real challenge when you're unexperienced. But if you're really interested in working on your own movements I would buy a cheap disposable Asian6497 Panerai rep to practice on. All the parts are a big bigger, which make it an easier start. You will also learn how easily a black dial can be scratched or hands can be broken... There are lots of selfhelp guides and if you send Offshore a PM he can provide you with interesting learning material for a modest fee to support the forum. The tools you will need: - sticky ball for opening the caseback - a piece of Rodico for cleaning, but also for holding hands - movement holder - hand removal tool - set of handset tools (there are different sizes) - watchmakers screwdriver set (the red, black and yellow are the ones you'll need the most) - tweezers - dust blower - silicon grease to waterproof the gaskets - Cape Cod cloths to polish SS - brushing tool to brush SS - bracelet pin remover - lintfree paper - patience - even more patience - guts to learn from your mistakes. Most important before you start: make sure you have access to spare parts, dials or movements in case things don't work out the way they should. Good luck!

How can I pull off wearing a High End Timepiece ?
scoobs1971 replied to lanikai's topic in General Discussion
As others already said, about 90% of the world population really don't care about watches at all and most of the times they won't even notice the watch on your wrist. 9% chooses a watch from a fashion perspective (D&G, Fossil, Armani and the likes), from a technical perspective (hi-tech Quartz watches with lots of functionality) or chooses heavily advertised watch brands from a social status/business perspective (Rolex, Omega, Breitling, TAG). These people only judge watches for the looks or image they project and they tend to know little about the history of the watch/brand or the technical details - let alone know all the flaws of our reps.... Leaves us with 1% of WIS of which half are among us . So unless you wear a golden Rolex with diamonds I think you can pull off wearing about just every rep there is. Only when I'm meeting clients I choose to wear mid-level gens reflecting my lifestyle/income, because I don't want them to think that they pay me too much..... -
Cutting new threads on stems, what do you think?
