  1. You have a horrible late stage Replicosis. At this stage most of the western medicine is helpless and doctors suggest maintaining the quality of life of the patient by buying more reps.
  2. LOL the whole story was actually an excuse to have some Laphroig in the middle of the day
  3. Absolutely, Pho. It's a small dramatization of the event, but, trust me, I played it cool. What could I do? It's absolutely about the attitude and the looks. I wear a good suit, smell good and always try to talk to people with respect. I have no doubt in my mine, she didn't know it was a rep, because after she's seen the watch, something changed in her eyes... You know, that bling bling shine some people have when they see something they desire...
  4. Even at 10X I say "Wow, that's pretty F'n incredible."
  5. You are not going to like this one. I certainly didn't like it at all... I was having a meeting downtown today and spotted a very fancy IWC AD shop. I had half an hour to spear so I went in to check out Portuguese 38. I was welcomed by a very nice 50+ year old, amazingly beautiful lady with a heavy french accent and was offered a cup of coffee before she showed me the Portu. By the way never have a coffee in AD shop, it's an AD trick, if you have a coffee there you can not say I need a cup of coffee to think about it and to excuse yourself. Anyway, she bring the Portu in and I look at at, mesmerized, of course - I love that watch - but also to mentally learn all the details. She smiles, with her french accent: "Try it on." And that where my heart drops. I suddenly realize that I'm wearing my rep Mark XVI. Totally forgot about it! "Adeodatus, you bloody idiot, you will never be able to return to this shop. Ever. Haven't you learnt anything on RWG?!" Obviously it was too late, so I'm awkwardly trying to remove my rep from the wrist, but she spots the watch. "Oh sir, I see you are an IWC customer?" "Yeah" - Isay while trying to slip my watch into the jacket pocket "Can I see it?" Damn it, woman haven't you done enough!? I pass my rep to her, while trying to play it cool and try the Portu on. "Fabulous watch" I almost scream at her, while passing the Portu back. "Yes, yours too" she says, "I love the watch, but we've never had one in stock. Congratulations." "Th..thankkk you" - I mumble, while grabbing the watch out of her hands and literally running outside. "Sir, wait, what about your coffee?" Coffee? I need a focking shot of whiskey now, lady, or ten. "Please visit us again, if you decide to purchase the Portuguese" So 3 heart attacks and one brain hemorrhage later I was finally out, looking for the nearest open pub to have my shot of whiskey. Conclusion: 1. Even AD sales person can be an "expert" 2. Never ever ever ever bring your rep to AD shop, if you want to live a long and healthy life. 3. I need to change my nickname here to Idiotdatus. The meeting went well, though
  6. They use pics of gen watches, not the reps they have in stock (If they have any reps, and are not just a scam site). I wouldn't bother ordering from them
  7. You're absolutely right, Pho, at 10x magnification you can spot imperfections even on Vermeer's Girl With a Pearl Earring. The watch is fantastic in my opinion, but the discussion is great as well. I like the way a simple "how's my watch" turns out on these boards.
  8. In fear of sounding like a complete drunk, I must admit that my inspiration for my mark xvi was the Laphroaig Quarter Cask
  9. THe problem with Rolexes, is that they scream fake. Even a gen Rolex. When you think of a fake watch, what watch immidiately pops? Right, Rolex.
  10. Thanks! SD is a gen then. edit: actually I wanted to write that SD was a gen at first, but not because I know anything about SD. Only because it belongs to paneraiguy's wife. Ladies have to have the gens, right? LOL
  11. You're right, but at that price range you can't expect much of an accuracy. Frankly speaking I wouldn't hand an out of box rep to anyone anyway, even if it a higher end model. On the other hand I wouldn't hand a gen either
  12. Lange, definitely Lange. Or IWC. One of those two. But, pesonally I like the Lange design better. Check out the review here: Good catch, fischyyy
  13. 111 is a rep h-factory, right? the sd is a rep as well? Total guess work. I think I've read somewhere that the screws on gens are blued with ss in the middle and on h-factory reps they are fully blue. (or maybe it's vise-versa) On SD shouldn't it be "Swiss Made" instead of "Swiss"? EDIT: By the way the SD looks fabulous on your wife. (makes me think...)
  14. Apart from my mark xvi strap, which, each passing day, feels more and more solid, I absolutely agree. The problem with this Omega is that the strap has those metal... how do you call it?... thingies... and I'm sure no one makes them, so you'd have to send the strap and have it fitted, send back, etc.
  15. Hublot all the way. Much better reps (and gens, imho) than Hyseks. They are not my cup of tea, but they do look stunning. Ebel is a super-rep, not sure about the 1911, but discovery is a "gen". period.
  16. They still haven't released it?! You must be going mental... But I feel that tomorrow is definitely your day!
  17. Actually she loves the Ballon, but didn't fancy the fact that it has a closed case. But maybe you're right, maybe I should take her to AD and try to "sell it". The thing is that I wanted the watch by mid Feb. (for a small celebration), as one of the presents, so I litteraly have no more than a day to deside, but in any case I'm glad I asked. Thanks for all your help, Photogirl, and please update us on your Ballon DeCartier experience. There is so little information on ladies watches, so any piece of info is priceless.
  18. "The only thing I like about it is the open case back" - Mrs. Adeodatus So far for women liking quartz, and also for my present. Damn it, I really liked this watch...
  19. Average time on site + Bounce rate + posting rate (now much time takes an average user to reach 100 posts and posts per day) + % of users with over 100 posts + % of users with 1000+ posts etc. Plus previous campaigns of course.
  20. Seriously though, if you had a genuine EQ would you really wear it? I'd keep it under a sealed glass and stare at it for days, pet it, make sweet sweet love to it, whatever. Wear it? Never.
  21. What Gran said... EDIT (yes another one): You know what, maybe some watches don't have to be repped at all. Repping it is like pissing on Mona Lisa.
  22. Audemars Piguet Perpetual Time are works of art and engineering. The company, along with Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin, is considered by many to be one of the top three Swiss watchmakers. Even today, each timepiece is carefully crafted in-house and by hand. So do I think this is a close replica? No way.I don't think it can be even remotely replicated. Bu tin any case head over to the AP area on this site to learn more. EDIT: Obviously there is such a watch, sorry for misinformation, but yet again - Equation of Time is a true marvel and that replica is... well... not.
  23. I'd suggest reading a bit more at the forum. Tons of useful information, reviews and discussions. You will find all the info you need. To answer your question read our Watches, Clothing & Accessories section and then head over to the links Welcome to the forum btw
