Who am I to judge? But I think these three cannot be the whole club. As you mentioned JLC and Breguet surely have earned a place in the olymp and even Lange & Soehne should be included IMHO.

This is one of my favorite watches in my collection. New ones probably looked like they were worth ten times more as the actually were. And although it is nothing special I really like it. Basically we are talking about a cheap-o pseudo diver. It is rated at 600 ft but even when it was new it would have probably not survived 100ft of water. It has no screw-down crown and a simple snap on case back. The movement is a simple 17j Rondamatic with a pin lever. Something you would give a your child as a gift to watch it slowly dying. And yet the looks of it, the blue dial and the orange tip of the second’s hand are quite appealing. The key story is that it is a hybrid. After Ernest Schneider had bought Breitling he decided that the Breitling name would survive. At that time they were using up parts from the Breitling watches and mixed them with Sicura parts. So called Sicura-Grenchen hybrids. They were called marine star and are watches in nomansland. They were hybrids having neither the high quality of Breitlings nor were they low grade as the pure Sicuras. The fact is that although they are still around it is quite hard to find them in good condition, just because of the low quality of the materials used. The simply brass case is often heavily corroded or the watches are incomplete with a missing bezel or such. Mine runs excellent and is quite well preserved. I think it is amazing that this watch is over 40 years old.

Shock & Awe: JLC's Navy Seals diver automatic is deployed!
gasebah replied to importr's topic in Other Brands Area
Currently they're out of stock. It is a pain cause I lost the triangle on the bezel and cannot get a replacement. :-( -
I recently bought a TC Yachtmaster. I found that with the exception of a black suit that I have it looked pretty much out of place to any wardrobe. With the polished midlinks I just think that it looks too blingy and flashy for most everyday clothing. So I ended up with very little wristtime. The other day I found out about the new curved leather straps from Everest and ordered one. I am pretty happy with the result. Without the bracelet the watch is toned down quite a bit. I guess I end up having it on my wrist a lot more often. The "end links" fit quite nice. To install the strap was an ordeal though. The SELs on the TC fit so tight that I had a very hard time removing them. I ended up using two springbar tools at the same time to remove them as they have virtually no slack. Here are some pics:

It is a bit hard for me to express myself to a complicated matter as this as English is not my native language. The problem I always find in this kind of discussions is that we do not really distinguish between ideas and people. An idea like Islam may be bad but that does not mean that muslims are bad people. In fact I strongly believe that Islam is very problematic in itself. It is just a fact that the koran is strongly supporting violence and ignorance against non-believers. Moderate muslims must interpret and bend the ideas and rules a lot more to find themselves in the koran than fundamentalists. I think that we have to fight the idea, but not the people who follow it. We have to stand up against it instead of tolerating it (even if there are muslims that are good people).

The opening for the column wheel is a clear tell for me that this is gen. Or someone with a lot of knowledge and tools has worked on it. If it is a rep it is surely not one that you can buy from a regular TD.

My condolences for the Paris people. Terrible. We are all shocked,

Buy another watch makes no sense to me. I will see if Sead my favorite TD can source something at least in the long run. He has helped me in the past with parts.

Hi guys, unfortunately the bezel triangle of my Navy Seal Diver fell off and got lost. As the watch has been out of stock for over 6 moths there seem to be no parts available. Any ideas what I could do other then to throw the watch in the trash can? -Alex

I would look into Orient Watches. They are great bang for the buck IMHO and you can choose from a lot of different models some of which are quite classy. This one e.g.: http://www.ebay.de/itm/251876732187?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&var=550766343560&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

A Breguet homage that I have for a couple of years already. Doesn't see much wrist time....but is quite nicely made.

OK. Thanks to some members hints I know now that the guy is a scam. So will not give away his contact details, but most probably sue him instead.

I was a sceptic in the beginning but now I ordered one myself. Just treat it as a 5001 not as a 5007. I have ordered a gen strap as well Ref. IWA05285. I have a source that sells them for 210.- €. Definitely more expensive than a RIOS or the likes. But quite reasonable for a gen strap. In case anybody is interested drop me a PM:

It is not. I have no experience with the model from intime but I can see at the first glance that it is not the TC. The TC has a different bezel. TC's YM has a distinctive 50 on the bezel that was only used by Rolex for a short time. I know because I thought it was crooked but later found out that it is existing on a limited number of gens. Also the crown seems to sit too low on the case although it is hard to tell from that angle. The TC crown sits exactly mid case. -Alex
