Problem with screws on H fac radiomir 380
gasebah replied to themannier's topic in General Discussion
That is what I was thinking. I guess the reasoning is that the butter screws are made of iron, and will dissolve while the case is made of steel and should survive the attack unharmed. -

Hi Themannier, I have no idea if that works and have never done it, but there seems to be a way. Go here: http://www.esslinger.com/vissin-liquid-for-extracting-broken-watch-screws-bergeon-4503/ The way it works you have to ditch the case part with the broken screw in the solution and boil it. The screw is dissolved by the strong acid and the case remains intact. At least that is the theory, Sounds scary I know, but instead of throwing away the watch it seems to be worth a try. -
Congrats mate. Very nice.

HI Rolex experts, maybe you can enlighten me. I got my TC YM today. I was curious about the 50 on the bezel as it looks a little odd and different than on most gens I had seen so far, Nevertheless I have found gens that have the odd shape. It seems like for a short time Rolex had a different bezel design. Or the "gens" are actually TCs. Design one, narrow type (gen pic but the same on TC's): Design two, round type (as on most gens):

It is a secret shared among a very small guild of people......:-) Go here :http://blog.tc-sub.com Maybe during the weekend. Got my hands full today with two kids and the wife not around. The rest of the week will be traveling for business. This was the perfect day for it to arrive..... One thing I am curious about. The 50 of the bezel looks way different then on most of the gens I have seen. Nevertheless I was able to find some rare pictures of gens during 2004-5 that have exactly that shape. Seems like for a short time Rolex had a different bezel. Or....the "gens" are actually TCs.

I think it is nice how they update their models and still you can unmistakably see it is an Aston. Love these cars but admitted to myself a few years ago that I will never own one. Kinda hard to pull that off with two kids, and by the time they are out of the house I am afraid my condition will not allow to crank myself in the low seats. :-)

Speaking about micro brands. I am looking into this one, but guess I will wait until real world pictures are available. http://www.aramar.nl/index.php?item=arctic-marine-blue&action=article&group_id=38&aid=732&lang=en#.VhuynrxUvGA

Today completely out of the blue my TC Yachtmaster arrived. No heads up, no tracking number, it just was there. Now I am having a little celebration with my box set. At 50 chances are I will not grow up anytime soon. This is my first TC. I am very proud. :-)

I am in no way an expert especially when it comes to AP. However in this case it is just a thing of pure esthetics. Screws should be flush and centered in their screw holes. If you look at the case back the screws then to either lean to right or left of the hole. Also the holes in general seem to be too large for the screws and frayed. Having said that after having a longer look at the pictures it could also be the case that the lightning and the shadows add to the overall impression.
-
I suppose Legend refers to the back of the case, not the front. And I must agree. This looks awful.
-
I suppose their distribution channel will be mainly candy vending machines?
-
Can you guys enlighten me where the problem is? Did I overlook something? It is a gen buckle on a regular nato strap, right? What is misleading about it?
-
I am not an AP fan at all. But this is gorgeous.Congrats.

Well, maybe it is just an opinion, but photos usually don't do straps justice. I have to admit that I don't own a 111 and I have not seen the rep strap in person. But all the rep straps I have seen so far look ok on the TD's website, but are an easy tell in real life. They scream rep from a mile away. There might be exceptions, but that is my experience. And yes, mine is a gator strap. I am not saying that this is what you should get. It was just an example how a strap makes a watch.
-
Frankly, you should exchange the leather strap to something of better quality anyway. The PAM is a super rep, but the cheap rep strap will give it away. The first thing I did with all my PAM was exchanging the strap before I even put the watch on my wrist for the first time. For some I even bought a gen strap which costs about as much as the watch itself. But it makes a world of difference.

Problem with screws on H fac radiomir 380

You must use a drill that is considerably smaller than the thread, but large enough to destroy the stability of the screw. Once you destabilized the screws you can take off the caseback and clean the threads from whatever is left of the screw metal. I know it is scary and risky, but after all it is worth a try and better than throwing the watch in the trash can. -

I have never drilled out a screw myself. But I have seen a friend do it on a workpiece much larger than a watch. I don't think you can do it free handed. You need a drill rig that allows you to move the drill absolutely steady and smooth. and something to hold the watch in place. Something like this: http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/493453/Bosch-Bohrstaender-DP-500-Hoehe-500-mm-2608180009 and this http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/805564/Maschinenschraubstock-MS4-Proxxon-Micromot-28132-Backen-Breite50-mm-Spann-Weite-Klemmbacken34-mm/?ref=bundles&rt=bundles&rb=1 -

I had these problems with the butter screws from China. If strongly advise you to get some screwdrivers with a flat tip like this. The chance to ruin the screws are lot lower with this. Other than that I can give not much advise. If the screws is really ruined you could probably drill it out. Scary, I know. -
Are you asking if this is a genuine Breitling watch? I hope not. I am by no means a Breitlng expert but I hate to break it to you but even as a rep it is well.....weak. Here is a link to what it obviously tries to be:
-
Three things strike me while watching this video: 1. The gen has the same feature regarding the strange reflections of the crystal though much less distortion. 2. It is amazing how far the reps have come. 3. It is amazing how some people can talk a full 10 minutes without really saying anything.

I remember to have read something that the signatures have been imported into the new design but for the time being can only be changed by an admin. The mods are working on it, I guess.
-
Ok. Got it. My bad, or maybe not. Wrong movement for this watch.
-
Lol....no it says "forty-four (44) jewels" but who cares. It is a number. LOL. And here is a pic of the movement. No strange scrap metal riveted on top of the rotor.
