Guys sorry if this is a dumb question but what am I missing here? I thought the Heritage Chromo was not available except for a quartz version. And the Heritage Chrono also has no cyclops on the date. Only the old Monte Carlo had that.
I have not been here much lately so this comes as a surprise. Seems finally we are in the forum soap opera business as well. I appreciated the absence of it here as I think people who are into this are well served on the other side.
Was wondering about the use of tritium as "lume" and stumbled over this article.Thought I'd share it. http://wornandwound.com/2013/08/23/seeing-in-the-dark-luminescence-in-watches/
I bought my first reps in Taiwan and Hongkong 20 years ago. Most of them where more an approximation than a replica. But some of them were not that bad. I still have a IWC Mark ? that is running like a champ.
Also you never know what happens to those packages during transport. I got a gen lately (Anonimo) that was NOS and sent from a very respected dealer. When it arrived the hands and the dial were loose although the packaging was tank like. The package must have gotten an enormous hit from the bottom which moved the dial which in return loosened the hands. It appeared to be an easy fix but it turned out that you could not remove the movement from the case without removing the bezel which is a screw in type for these watches. Impossible to screw out without special tools. The difference though: The dealer paid for shipping and repairs and I had the watch back in no time. I do not want to bash any of the trusted dealers in particular but everyone has their own experiences. I took my business to Sead some time ago and I am very satisfied. He is very responsive and he provided me with replacement parts for very fair prices.
Any competitor in Germany could send them a cease and desist declaration with a penalty. They would have to cover all cost for this. If they don't sign it goes to court immediately and they would be in a world of trouble with fraud, compensation for damages and what have you.
I ask myself how these operations can exist in the US. In Germany a prosecutor would shut these down in a minute with them having a legit address and everything.
I think Hublot is way too recent to be in that circle. If you ever visit the Patek museum in Geneva you will know what I mean. These early watchmakers were making works of art with tools with which we would hardly manage to change a strap today.
