Ok.Thank you guys. It is decided then. It will get it a nice dark blue gator but apart from that I will leave it as it is. The Monte Carlo has to wait a few month more.
This was actually meant to become a donor watch for a Yuki Tudor Monte Carlo. But now that I have it on my wrist I actually like it for what it is. A very nice vintage chrono in its own right in a not so common tonneau case. I am actually quite undecided. Let it proceed it's vintage life or rip it apart and build a premium rep.....
What do you think?
I was using a Rancillio Silvia up to now and had asimple Gaggia before. But the Silvia though I got excellent coffee out of it was a pain as you had to vent it every time after you had steamed milk. The new machine also came with a professional grinder but I am not sure if I will use it on a every day basis. It has this thing to portion the amount of coffee which means you have to grind more coffee than you actually need.
My wife digged out this professional machine with permanent water-connection and dual boilers from a restaurant that is currently renovated. I just had to change the gasket for the portafilter and now it's running like a champ.
Not bad at all. And Glycine is really a good bang for the buck. Nicely decorated movement usually and actually manufactured in Switzerland. I bought an Airman at Amazon recently and I am quite fond of it.
I have just purchsed a vintage watch with a 7734 movement. The movement seems in good shape and was recently serviced. I am now thinking about using the watch as a donor for a Yuki Tudor 7031. I would use all Yuki parts.
How does such a watch compare to a gen? What are the more or less obvious tells? Are there commercially viable alternatives for some parts? I do not want to spend thousand on gen parts. This should still be a reasonable project inside 1500 € (plus the donor movement of course).
Any help from the experts would be very appreciated.
It's probably cheaper to buy a simple crystal press than it is to ship the watch around. I have one quite similar to these and it does it's job. Would not want to miss it since I have it.:
