  1. Sorry to hear that mate. I hope you get better soon and it is bearable. When I was out of order and in pain like this in the past I always watched history documentaries. There is something about these commentaries that is so nicely steady and constant that I fall to sleep every now and then. And in the wake stages you up your education. :-) Regarding accuracy of watches everybody has it's own take about this I guess. If you are a noob and get your first Noob watch you are convinced that it is 99% like the gen. The longer you are in the game the more you find out about those little inconsistencies. Regarding the cheapies I guess many feel the same way. I have build some Seiko homage mods that I love to wear. On the other hand I bought a Monte Carlo 7032 M2M the other day and I cannot wear it because the hands are a tad too long. I see it every time I look at the watch. I have to do something about it this weekend.
  2. I think it takes a lot of courage to disassemble a Valjoux 72 and a lot of skills to reassemble it as well. Maybe I should get one of those microscopes as well. Hats off. Wonderful watch.
  3. Frankly I do not know, but here is the old thread. I believe somewhere in th thread you find a download link, but not sure.

  5. Definitely check out Christian Laas at www.learnwatchmaking.com. He has a video course that is absolutely excellent. Hi res and showing every step. Not only does he explain what to do but much more why and how to do it. He even has a section on how you grind your screwdrivers to exactly fit the screws, preparing your tools etc.. He has a very calm and exact approach. I was absolutely delighted. Christian was also very responsive when I asked some specific questions outside the actual course. Christian is a real expert who is doing this in his spare time. He has a full time job as a watchmaker at Patek.
  6. You have come to a great place. Not as busy as RWI but high quality, knowledgeable and cultivated people.
  7. I looked into these recently and this is a fantastic example! Congratulations!
  8. I really do not know what to make of this. I really don't. I am torn between "I must have this!!" and ..... don't want to thread crap.
  9. LOL. I started servicing movements a few month ago. My wife is convinced that watchmaking is something mainly executed on all fours and on the floor.
  10. Would not fool anybody who knows these well, but as a watch I really like it. Apart from the fact that it was my first build.
  11. This is a Glycine Airman Spahir 18. It features a GL-293 which is basically an ETA 2893-2 with a specially decorated rotor. This is the smaller version with 39mm. It is also available as a Sphair 17 with 46mm size. Both can be had for very reasonable prices on the net.
  12. All is well here too. But it took quite a while until I finally ended up in someone elses account. So I guess it might take days until we are finally sure.
  13. Trust me this is amazing: http://rolexpassionreport.com/14962/do-you-want-to-learn-to-buy-vintage-rolex-study-my-free-rolex-buyers-guide/
  14. I am not sure. I bought the watch from a member. He said hands are a mix of gen Valjoux and Yuki. As the minute and hour hand are clearly Yuki I guess the subdial hands are from the donor watch and have been painted to match the 7032. Any tip on how to shorten the minute hand (file, cut?)?
  15. Get it while it is there: http://wristwatchcentral.weebly.com/uploads/6/0/1/2/6012893/handbook_of_watch_and_clock_repairsa.pdf
  16. Anyway, I have decided to make it even more real and wear a solid link bracelet with the Tudor 7032. That is what most gen owners do anyway as they are afraid to damage the links by removing one and preserve the old precious bracelet. :-)
  17. Nonne? Of all the acclaimed watchmakers? I really would like to fix this as it bugs me big time. But I do not want to damage the hand in any way given how good the aged lume matches the indizes.
  18. Sorry for the dumb question but Mary is which TD again?
