  1. But guys, I don't get it. I do not by any means want to play advocate for the Swatch group but they have raised prices only in Britain. This is not a price increase per se. It is clearly a reaction to the weak pound. So far goods can be moved around inside the EU and given the weak pound European buyers will take advantage of the discount the British Pound gives them, which may be partly a reason why the British economy is still doing quite well. To me it seems natural that companies outside the UK try to protect their business this way.
  2. If they would be 40mm I would be extremely tempted. But it's a good thing. The last thing I need is another watch. ? I am starting to hide them in different drawers around the house so my wife gets confused and doesn't realize the full magnitude of my addiction. ?
  3. Nice. But why does it have to be 44mm? I don't get why they have to blow up all these homage watches.
  4. My alternative to the notorious PAM Bronzo which I cannot pull of either price or wristwise.
  5. From last year's vacation in Croatia.
  6. Oh my. I was very tempted recently to rip off a 7734 chrono in excellent condition that I got on the cheap to build a Tudor Monte Carlo. In retrospect I am very glad I did not and I meanwhile got a very nice 7032 M2M.
  7. Excellent news. Sogeha is a perfect fit to the spirit of this forum. Congratulations mate.
  8. Exactly. It escapes me why people wouldn't know that.
  9. The red dot was a marketing thingy of Zodiac's in the 80s and early 90s. There was a red, gold and silver dot series. The red dot series mainly consisted of professional sports watches. http://wornandwound.com/zodiac-story-behind-curious-point-series/ The case is available in PVD. http://www.ebay.de/itm/130777598931?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=430098293321&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I actually plan to make a watch with this. I already have the dial. Not sure about the hands I should use.
  10. I am still trying to build watches with all kinds of parts I can find on the internet as I want to have as much practice as possible and I think it is boring to disassemble and assemble the same watch over and over. But it is not so easy to find parts that fit together mechanically and even more difficult to find stuff that matches aesthetically. Sometimes the outcome is hard to foresee because you need to use your imagination to combine fotos from eBay or other sources to a watch that you will only see once it is build. This time I bought a Zodiac dial, a swiss aftermarket case and used some 1675 mercedes hands I had lying around. I am really happy with the result. IMHO nothing looks off. To me it looks like a watch from the designer drawing board. What do you guys think? Here is another shot that makes the gloss dial more prominent.
  11. And that is about the only guy who can pulls this off.
  12. Was so sad to hear about Al Jarreau today. In my mid twenties I just couldn't get enough of his live album. I was singing along every word and note (except the real high ones:-)). Of course I was still living alone at the time. ;-)
