  1. Selfmade Stealth Fiddy for me today.
  2. Breitling Bullhead. Megacool.I usually don't like Breitling watches but this is something.
  3. No mate. I tried every possible way to access consecutive pages of a thread. I just cant't on my Macbook or iPad. Neither with Safari or Firefox.
  4. Gen speedy reduced Schumacher for me today.
  5. That's really ruining for me. I have tried different browsers but have the same problem with Firefox and Safari. I cannot access any pages past the first ones on each thread..
  6. No, it doesn't I covers the classic vintage chrono movements like Valjoux V72, 7734, Landeron 48...
  7. Well if you like classic vintage chronos it might be worth to have look at the free preview videos anyway. He basically explains the whole system and how the parts work together.
  8. There is a new course online form Christian Laas. Christian is a watchmaker at Patek and is preparing these courses in his off time. It covers the Valjoux V72 but takes detours to other classics like 7734. I did the watchmaking 101 course from Christian and was very delighted as I mentioned a few times. There are some great videos as teasers which you can watch without buying the course. I know that this may sound like an ad but I am in no way connected to Christian other than being a happy customer. Take a look at: learnwatchmaking.com I will buy the course once I have a few days off as I want to have the appropriate time and patience to do it. Just to add that Christian giving his profession and occupation at Patek is obviously no friend of reps and frankens. So if you communicate with him better don't mention it.
  9. Now I did not brother. I already have too much blue or blueish watches in my collection. Here is a pic of the blue section. :-) But hey this thread was about some omega or was it?
  10. Doesn't work for me in Safari. If I hit let's the 2nd page I get a loading page that stays on forever. Had this like a month or so. I had to refresh the page and it worked. But now I get the error message instead.
  11. Same here on Safari. In addition already the last few weeks I already had to refresh the page when I was browsing to the 2nd page of a thread. But then it worked and I did not get an error message.
  12. Looks like very nicely done craftsmanship. Kudos. But in all honesty I cannot think of a market that is more saturated than watch straps. I wouldn't even know how to get some marketing rolling that makes one really visible in the market. Unless you come up with something that cannot be easily reproduced like Rubber B or Everestbands, or at least sticks out like Gunny you would be lost in an ocean of competition. I can see that what you would offer is excellent quality but still...
  13. I finally finished it only after dismantling the movement 3 (!) times because every time I tried to insert the stem once in the case I coudln't get it in and messed up the keyless works. There is something about that crown with its wobbly spring that makes it extremely difficult. Positive side effect is that most of the movement is properly lubricated now. Should make for a nice summer beater:
  14. Well done is really an understatement. I am absolutely amazed by your skills. So much that I still have to learn. Incredible, really
  15. Exactly. I was referring to the Seiko Bullhead. I have a case here but movements are hard to come by. I guess it is exactly for this reason. People are ripping apart any Seiko 6138 Chrono they can get to build a much sought after bullhead. It is my assessment that almost half the bullheads you see on eBay are fake. There is a lot of reps/fakes whatever you want to call it out there. There is a lot of tinkering going on outside what we know from the TDs or vintage Rolexes. And the more affordable brands (Longines, Seiko, Marathon even vintage Omega) fly under the radar so to speak. That is why they bother to rep a Marathon. Do the math, 160 USD for a complete case with dial and hands. Throw in a cheap 2824 clone from China and your are good to go. That is 240 USD give and take and you sell the watch for 600 USD as a used genuine on the bay. Nice margin. It is a mess. Just to make it clear: I do not in anyway condone this. The watches I build are solely for my own pleasure of putting stuff together.
  16. The GSAR uses a standard 2824-2. So many options here: ETA, Selitta, asian clone... But I do not think a quartz would fit.
  17. The orange tube is the most obvious giveaway. The tubes are not real tritium tubes they are lumed with luminova. They all have the same serial number which is obviously the reason for the blurry pics. The engravings on the back are way off in placement, font, everything is wrong. I would like to show the watch I wanted to build today but I messed up the keyless, when I removed the stem so I have to start all over again. Grrrrr...... The complete case sets can be bought from a guy in the UK. He also sells Seiko bullhead cases. Problem is the movements are incredibly hard to find nowadays.
  18. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Marathon-military-GSAR-Automatik-Diver-Tritium-H-3-SW-200-Militaruhr-/142288606812?hash=item21210fd65c:g:PxoAAOSwLEtYgmgU Easy to spot for me as I am building that watch right now.
  19. If you do make sure that you buy a strap specifically for the clasp. They have a different length for the shorter part. If you buy a strap for the buckle the clasp will move to the side of your wrist which is uncomfortable and looks odd.
  20. I think the gummed up oil was true with vintage watches but is a thing of the past with modern high end synthetic oils used in watches today. Also the case that the oil has to be evenly distributed makes no sense to me as in a watch oil is kept in place by the capillary effect. I don't see a reason why watches should age in a watch box and definitely not more than in a winder. As for hand winding just do not excess it. A few turns until the watch is running is enough if the watch has an effective autowinding mechanism. But I get it that there is no consensus about this in the watch world. The net is full with forum threads about this. For me it seems logical that any mechanical device will be subject to wear directly proportional to its use.
  21. I had one but I never got the point. Since it went dead it has become a rather oversized watch box. A watch winder makes sense if you have a few watches in rotation. But not if you have a collection of 30 watches. If you have a perpetual calendar movement this is probably another story. :-)
