  1. Josh has already stated that a new Speedmaster with the new movement is in the works. I believe the next release is slated to be a Constellation chrono, so I'm not sure how long you will have to wait, but it is coming.
  2. LOL, moisture ruins the AR? So you should replace the crystal every time your watch gets wet? The AR is the same on the inside as it is on the outside. Removing the crystal, cleaning and replacing would be a more than adequate solution.
  3. That is the big problem with Breitling reps. My Chrono Avenger is in dire need of Chiefs AR, but because the rider tabs hang over the crystal, the bezel must be removed in order to remove the crystal. The last thing I want to do is destroy the watch while attempting to remove it. Same deal with the Skylands and Super Avengers. Not sure why these supposed 1 to 1 copies aren't constructed the same as the gen, but it's a pain in the ass. The good news is that on Breitlings newest releases the rider tabs don't seem to hang over the crystal, so removing the bezel won't be necessary on future Breit reps
  4. The hands will all fit, but the tube on the large seconds hand will need to be broached slightly. Some members have said that you can install it with a little extra force, but better to do it properly if you have the tools.
  5. Best place for reps in Toronto is mine and Toad's watchboxes Seriously, there are no rep dealers (of quality stuff) in the city. This site will give you all the info you need to order what you want without worry. Canada has probably one of the most lax replica import laws, so no need to worry. Read Toad's newb guide, do some research, and order yourself a great watch! Cheers, A
  6. Besides the logo, the thing that I always look at on PO dials is the hour markers. The genuine markers seem to be slightly wider, especially at the narrow end. I can always spot a rep by looking at its markers, and have never seen a rep (besides the new UPO Chrono) that has gotten this detail correct.
  7. Use a rubber kitchen glove to unscrew the caseback. Should work with a little effort
  8. Looks great! I've got three 45mm PO's, but I am really starting to miss the 42mm version I used to have. I think overall it's a much better balanced watch. But it came nowhere the accuracy of the UPO. Hopefully there will be a new improved 42mm one day soon!
  9. I disagree with all of you. With a little common sense I see no problem wearing a rep to an AD. In fact, I do it all the time. If it's a good rep, you don't flaunt it, and it's a brand not stocked by the AD, then there is no problem at all. I find that a decent rep opens a lot of doors, ensures that you get top service, and many times will get you free swag like the big catalogues without having to beg. I think this unwritten rule is a trowback to the days when reps were far from perfect and easily spotable. Times have changed and IMO this rule should change as well.
  10. Nice to see some real content again from Pugs. I've been following his constant twittering and must admit that I find the "forum Pugwash" far mor interesting. Just don't get the twitter thing I guess Welcome back mate, hope to see you around more often!
  11. Interesting that the 3-6-9 Navi appears to have a matte finish to the dial like my first generation rep. Most of the navitimers I've seen have had a very polished finish on the dial, almost mirror like. I wonder if the early 2003s had a different finish to the dial?
  12. This is the only Orange rubber they sell, yuck!
  13. Didn't you read the Omega guide Dave?
  14. Didn't know Walmart was stocking Omegas Dave Can't see your pics yet (blocked at work) but Im assuming its the orange PO Chrono with orange rubber strap? Nice piece, although the orange rubber strap is fantasy, it only comes in black. Great watch to wear in the sunshine though, and there's plenty of that today, so enjoy!
  15. Not really that familiar with pricing on these, but given the fact that its without box, papers, and bracelet, I wouldn't spend a cent more than $800 on it. Thats based on a quick look at ebay where a new in box version is running at about $1700+.
  16. jeez, if you don't know what you are talking about, don't confuse the guy! This is a gen reduced speedy which doesn't have the tight subdial spacing. As previously mentioned the "automatic" on the dial is a tell, as is the seconds at 3:00 and the non trailing 6:00 subdial. The solid caseback is also a good clues as most of the reps had display backs.
  17. Not sure if I can get used to calling you that mate! Love to here the story behind this one though
  18. Reps should be just as durable, but I would choose your beater wisely. Certain parts like a bezel inserts or the AR coating may not take the abuse that a gen would. In selecting your beater I would pick a watch with a solid bezel and no AR.
  19. When I first got involved in the rep scene about five years back, I recall seeing a post about a guy installing a pusher in his rep for a quick date set function. Too long ago to remember the details but it must be possible.
  20. Are you planning on a gen dial? Definitely keep us updated, I'd love to see how this works out!
  21. Very interesting as to how things were done in different eras. Then, NASA engineers went out and bought their own watches for testing. Today, I'm sure that the rights would have been sold to the highest bidder, provided they could make a watch that would survive certain criteria. I know these days its all about the almighty dollar, but I prefer those days of yesteryear when things were done honestly and fairly. I'm not one that puts much stock in endorsements (pay someone enough and they'll say anything) but Nasa's endorsement of Omega is probably the most meaningful of any. Unsolicited, unbiased, and undisputed, just as it should be.
  22. Great post Francisco, I've been waiting for a review of this one. Was there any sign of lubrication in this movement?
  23. Actually not a good start. As the dial is in a fixed position (against the slide rule ring) the crown and pushers may not align with the holes in the case. Again, it would be an experiment, but as he already has the movement it would not be that expensive an experiment. He could buy a fighters Navi and a rep 3-6-9 dial, and try it. If it doesn't work he's still got the Fighters and is only out the cost of the rep dial. If it works, then he could start sourcing the expensive pieces.
