  1. My first notion would be to try the 6-9-12 case. You already have one, so no pain if it doesn't work. After all, the 3-6-9 case had to have been made deeper to accommodate the transfer module. Seem to me that thats pretty close to the amount that you need to adjust your crown/stem. I'd start there.
  2. Lots of nice 7750 based Grahams out there. Check out the Chronofighters and Divers models that most dealers carry.
  3. Great work! The only problem that i can see is that by raising the crown, it may interfere with the bezel. As I look at mine, there really isn't much room to move there.
  4. Yep, the Navi is about 42-43mm and doesn't have the thickness of the Aeromarine series. IMO opinion its probably the most nicely balanced of the Breit line. I love my Skyland, but its very top heavy. The Navitimer is very comfortable, and the all glass face gives it a lot more presence than its size would lead you to believe.
  5. Great watch, but why didn't you swap datewheels? I know the single digit dates would be wrong, but at least all the others would be correct.
  6. Yep, white dial does exist in both the rep and gen. The gen came in black, grey, blue and white. As mentioned, the pearl is the weakest point on the V2s, I manufactured a pearl and replaced the ugly one on mine. I'm considering an AR treatment but am toying with the possibility that a Skyland crystal may fit in there as well. The CA crystal tends to cause distortion when viewed at an angle. Nice watch, resale value of about $180 US.
  7. You are not going to fool anybody with your Skyland. There are experts here that will definitely tell you what is real. There are also people who "think" they know what is what, and give you incorrect info. When you make a post like that, you can't just look at the responses after an hour, wait a couple of days, and in every case our experts will tell you exactly what is real, 100% of the time.
  8. I know the Tricompax dial is slightly too large for the case, but I have seen gen dials fitted in the case by sanding a small amount off the outer edge of the dial. I'm interested to see if the 7753 will even fit in there? Have you tried the 7753 with the rep dial to see if it fits? Aside from that, this old Navi looks spectacular. You can really see how polished the gen dial looks, and the proper date font looks awesome. Too bad the caseback numbers don't match. I've never understood why they don't do a super rep of this particular model. All the parts are in place and a properly repped dial & caseback is all that would be needed. We already have 7750s with the correct font, and most of the new reps have decent AR, why cant the apply this to the Navi? I'd buy one for sure!
  9. I applaud your efforts, and hope that it will lead to some sort of solution. But, I really am skeptical that you will be able to fully resolve the date window issue on the rep navitimers. Although the recessed date wheel is annoying, it is only part of the problem. The date window on the Navitimer is huge, certainly much bigger than the date window on our 7750 reps. So if you use a rep dial, it will only look slightly more accurate. A gen dial is not an alternative, as the date window is cut slightly more outboard, as the 7753 date wheel is different. When you install a gen dial you will see the outer edge of the datewheel. I guess that if you made your overlay to 7753 specs, and installed a gen dial, you would have something, but that's going to involve a lot of work and cash. At best I can see one decent franken coming out of this, but I don't see an easy fix for all unfortunately.
  10. It may seem that quartz may be more durable, the fact is that I would rather have an automatic watch if I were to be stranded on a desert island. Quartz weak point is the battery, dying every year or two. My wife has 4 or 5 quartz watches and she will wear them until they die, and she ends up with 5 dead watches. I have about a dozen watches which I can wear at any time without worry, and have not had to worry about buying batteries once. Quartz may be more accurate over the long haul, but I never wear any one watch for more than a day or so, and I accurately set the date and time when I switch them. Since they are all regulated to within a few seconds a day, my watches are always as accurate as any quartz watch. They may not be for everybody, but for me mechanical watches rule.
  11. Exactly which Montbrilliant are you looking for? There are decent reps of the datora and legend, but nothing worth looking at for the regular montbrilliant. Post a pic of the model you are looking for and I'll show you whats available and what flaws are associated with that particular model.
  12. I recently used about a 1.5 mm screwdriver to manufacture a new pearl for my chrono avenger. Yep, that little pearl is all that is left of the screwdriver!
  13. Sure they are over priced when you look only at the end product. What you fail to factor in is the cost of such things as design and brand recognition. These companies spend a ton of money building their image, and these costs must be factored in. The rep makers simply steal the designs as well as the brand recognition. Not really fair to compare the end costs IMO.
  14. Good thing you are not a judge, you overlooked composition, color, light, shadow, depth of field... There is much more to a good photo than focus my friend.
  15. That is not completely true. A photo contest is just that a "Photo contest". Photos are artistic, but what we'd like to see is the photos being judged on the basic photographic criteria like composition, lighting, color, focus, etc. Anyone can take 10 different pics and combine them to form one killer image, but when the final image looks nothing like anything that came out of the camera, it ceases to be a photograph and becomes a piece of art. Again, this is a photo contest, not a an art contest. Lani has posted the rules, and Photoshop will be allowed for color correction, cropping, etc., so why do you still have a problem? You seem to be just arguing for the sake of arguing. Those are the rules, work with it.
  16. Just four for me... Blue Skyland Black Chrono Avenger Ti White SFSO and my Black Navitimer Tricompax
  17. Keep in mind that the judges will likely be taking in to account how much Photoshopping has been done to an image. As Lani had stated previously, this is after all a photo competition, not an art contest. So use PS to enhance your image but not to create it.
  18. Get well soon mate, my thoughts are with you.
  19. Panerai has lots of destro models available, you'd think he'd have picked one of those if he was going to wear it on his right arm.
  20. The Rolex guys would say you've got a nice patina happening there, but on a new Breit it looks terrible. I'd contact the dealer. BTW, I have seen another instance of this. Not sure which board it was posted on though.
  21. Nobody should ever give up a non-destructive hobby because it irritates their spouse. The problem is not with you. Your wife has the problem, because she despises something that gives you pleasure. I could see if it were a money issue, but the offer of a gen Daytona makes it obvious that it is not. Its all about insecurity. Your wife believes that your attention is focused on something else, and should be on her. Solve that issue first. The Daytona will only add to the problem, and at some point you will resent it, and see it for what it is...a leash.
  22. Right on Omni! Tell it like it is, love should be unconditional.
  23. Its a Daytona for gods sake. People are gonna assume its a rep anyway!
  24. Its like my wife buying me a new set of Taylor-Mades, on the condition that I quit golf.
