  1. True, he never was convicted. But, he did pay the first victim something like 15 million to keep his mouth shut. The second kid was poor I believe, his parents tried for a settlement as well. That hurt the prosecution, as Jackson's attorneys had ammunition to contend that it was a case of extortion. An attorney that attended the trial stated that "at the very least, it was a very inappropriate relationship". To say that nothing happened because there was no conviction is very naive on your part.
  2. MJs passing is going to open up a whole can of worms, just wait and see. From what I can see, his death will more than likely be attributed to a massive prescription drug habit. Just wait until his now unemployed maids, butlers, housekeepers, drivers, etc., are offered handsome sums by TMZ for their stories. The walls do have ears, and something tells me they will begin talking very soon! BTW, I admired him as an artist way back when, but lost all respect for him after the pedophile charges. Like any other kid toucher, all I can say is enjoy your time in hell Michael.
  3. Pretty sure it only comes with black or white dials.
  4. Welcome! Always nice to see more Toronto area people!
  5. What is happening is that the chrono hand is slipping. The hand itself is made of two pieces, the hand and the tube, which are sort of riveted together. What has happened is that joint is not tight, and the hand is slipping on the tube. You need to de-case the movement, and remove the hand. Carefully put a tiny amount of epoxy on the underside of the hand, all around the tube. Once that dries, reinstall the hand and all should be fine.
  6. I agree with you Teej, but the simple fact of it is that their are plenty of companies out there that do these kinds of things. Apple will only sell you a phone with a three year contract, yet I highly doubt that the battery will last three years. Oh, too bad you can't replace it without sending it to apple service either. If the lack of oil is something that is happening regularly in breits, its probably just a business decision to bolster profits in the future. Who's going to know? We all know watches need servicing every 5 years or so. The part that makes me believe that this is some kind of fluke is that Breitling's reputation would be in serious jeopardy if this news was ever discovered by the masses. Not everybody will use AD servicing, so it would only be a matter of time before it was discovered. If I was the owner of this particular watch, I would definitely send a terse letter to Breitling, and complain both about the water resistance and the oil. BTW, when the owners AD suggested that he had left the crown unscrewed while swimming, wouldn't a simple pressure test have proven one way or another if he was telling the truth? Something sounds fishy.
  7. Hmmm, not really false advertising is it. Zig has made us all aware that our A7750s come dry as well, and I have a couple of those that are approaching five years of service. So, maybe they realize that a dry movement will in all likelihood last through the warranty period, but will begin to have issues shortly after. At the prices that Breitling charges for service, thats a nice little revenue stream.
  8. firstly, I am fairly positive that is a v3 rep and not a gen. Secondly, you will have issues with the insert. The skyland insert is much deeper than the evo, so you will have to use the skyland insert or find a way to fill the extra space. You can't move the dial farther in to the case as the crown and pushers won't line up.
  9. Unfortunately the rep makers cut back on the use of titanium a while back. The 192, 172, Chrono Avenger and Seawolf were all notable casualties. To bad because like my 192, the 172 is a beautiful watch.
  10. I believe thats the 42mm 4th gen. I think you will find that it is out of stock. That watch does take gen parts however. Too bad they stopped making them.
  11. I want to get the olive version for my Ti Chrono Avenger. One of the few aftermarket straps that looks good on a Breit!
  12. The UPO Lite was actually a limited run of watches produced by Josh and Andrew about 2 years ago. It was identical, including a sapphire crystal, to the UPO but for the movement, which was a DG4813. There have been several asian 45mm POs since, but none of them have been as good as the original UPO Lite which sold for only $115 btw. The UPO lite was able to accept gen parts, just like the UPO, with the exception of the hands.
  13. Awesome piece! I love my Ti Avenger and wear it more regularly than any of my other watches. Something about the bulky oversized case and the light weight of the titanium that make it feel just right. I'd love to know if I could fit a skyland crystal in to the Ti case though? Mine's a V2 with a custom pearl. I don't mind the bezel font issue so much, but I'm really bothered by the "coke bottle" effect of the crystal and the lack of AR.
  14. I agree with you Stormtrooper. I have two UPOs and a SMP chrono. The UPOs both stripped within a few months and I replaced the crown/tube in both with gen parts. One has stripped again, and the second one has about one turn worth of thread left. The SMP chrono is getting very close to needing a replacement as well. Maybe somebody should do a monthly Oferi parts order so we can all split the outrageous shipping cost!
  15. Good to see you again Pug! Is that a blue skyland or black?
  16. Too big. Stick to a 45mm maximum for your sized wrist.
  17. LOL, still the funniest moment in rep history! Forget about rep clubs. Having the proper equipment will help you become a good golfer. Having equipment that looks proper will only make you look like a good golfer. Buy a used set of decent clubs if money is an issue.
  18. More than likely you moved the wrong arm. You are probably going to have to take it to a watchsmith.
  19. I do as By-Tor does, favor the new ones, but wear a different watch pretty much every day.
  20. Outstanding result! I had no doubt that you could pull this of F, but like I gathered, its a lot of work and likely won't be offered to the masses.
  21. Forget the gen hands. Make the best of it and send it to Zig for a relume.
  22. To sum things up, I guess what you will need to do this properly is... - Gen tricompax dial - Rep Navitimer Serie Speciale case (or the two-tone 6-9-12 case) - Rep Tricompax caseback - Gen ETA 7753 movement Now, if you could just find a gen Navitimer datewheel you'd be off to the races. As a side note, the 7753 movement has no quick set date via the crown. You must advance the time to set the date, so this beauty would be best kept on a winder Great job polexpete, I had always wanted to do this myself but never knew that it would work for sure. Unfortunately, now that the price of 7753's have skyrocketed, a franken like this is likely well out of my budget. Should have been collecting the pieces years ago
