  1. Nope. Two reasons. Your love affair with the Daytona will soon fade, and you will crave something different. And secondly, once this craving starts, what are you going to buy to satisfy it? Timex? Casio? Don't sell a lifetime of fun for one watch. PS - Grow a pair and tell your wife to quit with the "conditional" games. Typical for a woman to try and change what you like and do
  2. So what is it now? Zigdog? Watchyzumba? Much better name anyway!
  3. Tanfo is insane. The craziest of all of us by far. He's got more watches that he's never worn than most of us could ever hope to own. Insane to the max.
  4. Hairspring is likely tangeled. Hold it with the crystal in your palm and give it a firm slap on the back. Usually works instantly.
  5. Thanks for the collection update Tanfoglio! I only wish I had 1/10th of your watch budget mate. Awesome collection!
  6. The logo on the Silix dial is better, but still different than the gen. The shape is correct, but the top face of the gen logo is perfectly flat and the edges are sharp. The Silix logo is an improvement as opposed to a fix.
  7. Trustworthy? I am still waiting for my order placed in mid January. He has said that he mailed it on four different occasions. The last time, he said he'd mail it on April 6th. I emailed him on the 7th and he said that he did mail it. A month later, when it never showed up he said that he had forgotten to mail it. Sound trustworthy to you?
  8. I agree, blue is the color to have. Looks great on SS, and really cool on blue rubber.
  9. I would think the safest way to do this repair is to remove the dial, set the marker, then glue from behind. Its tricky to get the pegs and holes lined up, and if you have glue applied to the front of the dial it WILL end up where you don't want it.
  10. That would be a Navitimer Twin Sixty
  11. You are right Ken, it probably is illegal to import a rep in to Canada. But, as I recall from research done a few years back, Customs agents have no authority to seize or press charges. A customs agent must notify the RCMP who would then have to contact the manufacturer. If the manufacturer wanted to pursue charges, then the watch could be confiscated. As you can see, there is a lot of procedure and red tape to go through, certainly too much for a single watch. They will only act on volume importing for the purpose of distribution.
  12. The problem is that in Canada, all the internet/cable providers are in collusion. Their pricing is pretty much the same across the board, so there is no point in switching and having to re-setup my equipment, email addresses, etc. When i got my HDTVs I signed up for their overpriced executive package simply so I would have access to every HD station. Now, as new stations are added they want me to buy each one separately. They just constantly nickel and dime you to death! $1000+ a year for TV and I still have to sit through seemingly endless commercials. Just never ends!
  13. Its not just watches. In 1976 I paid $6 to see Kiss from the front row. This summer when they come again it will cost $150 to sit in the last row. Thats a 2500% rise in price, and considering these guys were making millions back then, how much are they making now? Go in to Hollisters and see what they are charging for what should be a $5 t-shirt! My 13 year old daughter hinted that she would like a pair of T&A Jeans, so I stopped in there store and looked at a normal looking pair of faded jeans.... $230!!!! Has this world gone absolutely mad? I see 12 year old kids with iPhones for christ sakes!! Who is paying the $60+ a month to keep them running. About a year and a half ago I signed up with an internet provider for about $12 a month based on a 3 year commitment. Recently I checked my overly confusing bill to find it was now about $25 per month. When I called to complain they told me they had the right to increase prices, I just didn't have the right to back out without paying extra! Sorry for the rant, but I just feel that I am being [censored] left, right and center, and I will have no guilt whatsoever downloading as much music as I can find, torrenting whatever movie I feel like, and wearing whatever Replica that I want. These greedy companies can just kiss my ass if they don't like it
  14. Use the sites listed in our Dealers Section and you will be fine.
  15. I have no guilt or remorse. I will admit that buying a rep is a form of theft, but I will also say that charging $5-6K for an ETA 7750 based watch is a far bigger form of theft.
  16. I've got a SOSF and rarely wear it. Sure its an accurate, well built watch, but I just don't really like the design. I'd go with the Seawolf.
  17. I can tell you that there is no dealer of quality reps in Toronto. There are a few crap reps for sale at the pawn shops on Church St., and some more junk if you search Craigslist. But if you want quality, buy from the dealers listed here. Except Silix.
  18. Many years on these boards and have seen very few issues with Canada customs. Relax and order at will!
  19. I had no problems removing an insert that I replaced recently by sticking a 1mm jewelers screwdriver between the edge of the bezel and the insert and gently prying it up. Sure it destroyed the old insert, but who cares. I cleaned the old glue off the bezel and used a small amount of epoxy to carefully fasten the new insert in place. Obviously not the proper way to do it (see Dog's post) but it was simple and quick.
  20. There's a guy that likes variety You think anybody has EVER said "did you get a new watch?" to him? Maybe when he wears the gold one, but seriously...
  21. bezel will definitely not fit. Not sure as to whether the date can be fixed though.
  22. Some of the replies are quite humorous!
  23. Congrats! I was going to say you are a brave man to risk the "seconds at six movement", but I think you'll be okay with that one
  24. Sweet! Probably a little heavier than the "Paper Rep"?
