  1. @ rick: I did the case works. I'm really not much of a lume guy. The dials were custom made in Vietnam, and the hands relumed by someone else...
  2. No, it's all done by Neckyzip. Great job always! Look at the PanAm case back!
  3. Thanks for your kind comments! About the Tudor: Latest cartel case. Yes, it is powered by a 2836... About the 6204: I should say this case started as a... Cartel 1680!!! You can see how much work has been done to change it that much!!! About the T39: It is a Swiss made replacement. I got it without blister so I'm afraid I don't know the maker...
  4. If only.... I did try and the answer is an irrevocable NO. ST19 needs a totally different setup. Finding good dials for 7750 is a quest for many of us.
  5. Your question is unclear mate... Same thing as what? A ZF dayto is a ZF dayto. Or do you mean are JF and ZF versions the same? I must say it's unclear to me too. I played with a ZF made 23J and I believe it is a great base to get right a 2003 116520. You need to mod the case and the movement. Crown height differs, but overall quality is excellent.
  6. It is always a pleasure to work for you. Patience and pragmatism are essential in this hobby!!!
  7. the rehaut isn't tall. It's just a lense effect. As for the height we must be close...
  8. I'm making this quick post to show a fellow member a Nautilus I got in MBK in Bangkok some 7 years ago... It's powered by a 2824. Correct 2 pcs case, no sweep sec and correct date position. I've never seen an other one around...
  9. For your eyes is an other 6538 build based on the infamous HR rep. Here I did my modification that consists in thinning the mid case from the top to have the crown appear higher. See how this mod enhances the lenght of the lugs !!! It changes the looks a lot. The watch appears very sleek. The lug holes were redrilled to gen size and proper springbars with polished tip were fitted. Thanks to the watch owner, I also modified the profile of the bezel. I sandblasted it to remove the plating partially between the teeth, and I engine turned the bezel to shape the teeth in a more genuine like profile. The insert was shaved from the bottom to sit lower, and the inner diameter was enlarged for it to appear thinner. As for the glass... did you know sizes vary from one HR case to an other? Well, now I know... And this one has a larger rehaut. Too large to hold a T21. So I did something different this time since I am against using glue or any dirty back room tricks when possible: I used a T39 I shaved from the bottom to remove the retaining lip. I shaped the sides just like the original HR stock crystal to re-use the nylon gasket. Repolished and super tight pressure fit. This might be the first water resistant acrylic crystal fitted WITHOUT GLUE on a HR. The dial was mildly aged with different inks. Result is very subtle, nothing loud. Enjoy the pics !!!
  10. There were so many custom dials made... There isn't necessary a history. Only a client who ordered 10 of those to offer its team after the race. I have a 1665 with a ENCO logo (former name of ESSO in the USA)
  11. It works just fine. Its the 7750 based chronos that have issues... This movement is pretty stable once the day month functions are removed.
  12. A tribute to the amazing quality of the ZF thin cases. The steel quality is excellent, very bright ! The mirror finishes are fairly easy to obtain and don't scratch easily... Here, I reshaped it to my taste. Mostly on the 9 o'clock side to achieve that "liquid metal drop" aspect Rolex are so nice for. The original shape was definitely off there. With a '04 gen bracelet it would be really exciting. Besides the outer case reshaping, rehaut was trimmed to first generation specs and the movement was altered to totally remove the date and month mechanism.
  13. not on BPs. There is a small metal base attached to the dial. Glue is soft neoprene. Nothing on the movement plate.
  14. all right! Thanks for the info. That's really the kind of details you can only know when you had your nose in... I'll mod one for the sport too. Cheers!
  15. Great review !!! Thanks for sharing. Are the pushers screwed in the case like gens? Or are they simply forced in like the vintage style reps of the cartel? thanks !
  16. Indeed, but not so commun. Say popular by demand. Besides factory bombe cases, I have seen twice Oyster cases shaped in bombe. One was probably transformed by a retailer/jeweller back when people were doing what they felt like with their watches as there was no such thing as an established market value. It was very much appreciated by the same crowd of collectors who were chasing the bubblebacks in the late 80s.
  17. Ah, here is an other bit of fun I had recently : I did a custom bombe cased 6238 chronograph. It really becomes a dress watch like this doesn't it? This kind of request was seen in the 60s, and given the very inaccurate original shape of that cartel case this transformation seemed to be an interesting option to create a unique watch. It could benefit from a better crystal and proper engravings maybe...
  18. Sorry, no. those are the permanent residents.... I have other ones. I might let one go soon as I need to do some works in my car. Again...
  19. I make this post for a fellow member interested in the shape variations that can be achieved on DW cases. See 3 DWs (6238 is Cartel based), 2 of which are 6239s. One has the high crown position, the other the intermediary position. The 6238 is a reference to show a tonneau shape as a comparaison... You have 3 heights: 1 is the tonneau shape. Symetrical on both sides 2 is the intermediary height (acrylic PN), like what I did for the FAP posted recently 3 is the tall position (Steel bezel PN)
  20. it's all in the text at the beginning. Can you see?
