  1. Hello all, I will post this text both here and in the sales area so the information is communicated. Just to remind first what drived me into this Rolex Ephemera project : simply to have papers for all my watches, rep and gen. Having a full set is such a nice feeling ! Only, as we all know, Rolex ephemera prices have gone really expensive, and I am not willing to pay over 1k for a blank certificate, or settle for a Date or Datejust certificate with the wrong numbers and all. This is not a business, just an attempt to finance this project. Please do not treat me like a dealer, I am a collector just like you guys ! The journey to find a good printer was long. Very long, and I had actually given hope until recently in Eurasia. This batch of Certificates is the third of this series. I have refused 2 batches, I could not refuse this one. The progress overall was so outstanding that I had to accept it. And to be honest, I was too focused on the print quality to notice the small errors you guys pointed. About these errors, note you did not see them at first ! It took you some time and focus to spot them. And also, to be honest, it was probably the first time you actually READ a certificate. Who reads that? It just looks good folded in the wallet fitted in the box. Anyways, I had to accept as I had a strong feeling if I refused this batch, they would refuse to work for me again. So, do not imagine one second these came cheep !!!! At every trial I have to pay. So all in all, that price I offer is just a break-even. Nothing more. Printing is not cheap. Finding the correct paper was not simple, and most of all, creating the source file with these stamps and details was a lot of work. I will have one more batch made, and have these defects corrected. Green will be lighter, watermark will be reduced by 20% and the mistakes will be corrected. PLEASE, have a good look at the other ones, and let me know if you see any other thing that should be adjusted !!!!!!!!! Since they had a super clear scan of the gen to work and mistake in on their side, I will try to get a discount and order 100 pcs. I will still sell the set at 20 euros, and the other ones will go at 10 euros only. Again, once folded and aged, for a submariner with a low crown guard you won't need any better..... Someone who doesn't notice a low crown guard will not notice that accent in the wrong place and so..... Cheers, RJ
  2. gold wrapped is a shell of gold pressed around an other metal. It is thick - around 300 microns minimum, when gold plated is gold layed on an other metal by chemistry (electrolyse). Thickness varies from 5 to 80 microns. It usually is around 10 which gives a 50 to 10 years wear on a non acidic skin.
  3. I have debated too long whether I should have a yellow or white lumed 1680. It is funny how just changing the lume color affects the whole look of the watch ! It is literally a different watch, and I am now convinced it makes perfect sense to have both if this reference is among your favorites.... Viet Mid cases and bezels, DW casebacks and DWOs, PT dial for the yellow lume, DW dial for the white lume, Athaya crowns, crystals from Ebay, not sure of the maker... Gen 93150, TC hands for the white, PT hands for the yellow.
  4. I am not sure. I guess all wood lined boxes with the felt card watch support were means to be used as cigarette boxes. So it might fly... However, so little full sets are remaining and it is not easy to come by pictures of those. You have to dig on internet.
  5. I think Breitling hands should do for that. I won't change mine as I love those straight hands, and given I did not try to match the gen albino, I am happy as it is....
  6. I did not have time to do a sales post ! Everything was gone before the sales section came back.... Anyways, this was a trial. Next batch will be the one: we learned a lot from this experience, and the next one will be better. It will also be the last. I will organize a clear and detailed sales post as soon as I receive the papers.
  7. Great! I am so glad I can contribute to bringing our collections to a higher level of sofistication!
  8. no I will not. I need papers for my watches and I gave up on finding gens. These rep papers come with a minimum order. Basically, one A0 sheet is the minimum for the small ones. So, once I have what I need as good as I expect it to be I will stop. I sell the good ones and I give the mediocre ones... Unfortunately, it is only when it is printed that one can see it the batch is good or not. It is a little investment but thanks to the sales I should have my papers at a decent cost at the end.
  9. No worries, once I know what I can have, I will make a clear sales post in the sales area and you can pre-order. The second batch will definitely be better than the first who was more of a try out. We learned from it and will reach a greater level of details.
  10. exactly! Despite the fact the gen albino reached 1.5M in late auction, I think the strong contrast of the acrylic bezel lacks elegance... My watch: my opinion.
  11. Congratulation on your collection ! The nice genuine boxes definitely bring these nice pieces to a higher level. You are just starting... When you are on that slope, a few years later you'll pass the 20 watches milestone with a smile !!!
  12. Here is my 6265 built. We all know the pros and cons of this DW daytos, but leaving aside the few flaws, I like to focus on the strong points.
  13. I am looking into it... Just got the watch, I'll find the right parts over the time. Some builds took me over 10 years.....
  14. very simply on ebay... Patience and you will find at a fair price. Having a set really completes the watch! It does not look as good mixed up with other watches in an anonymous box.
  15. I played with a basic Cartel 1665 Omani, and I believe it turned out to have some potential. The case CG side needed a heavy reshaping and there are still some flaws, but overall it turned out better than I first expected. I will of course change the crystal soon and install a nice pearl....
  16. Well, I could achieve a very futile dream : have all three major bodies evolution of the basic sub. Square CG, Pointed CG and round CG. So similar, yet so different !
  17. I already ran out. All is gone for some days now. Just a few cigarette cards are still lying around... New batch should be here before Christmas.
  18. Nope... I have 2 GMT myself and I ordered some. I should have it by Christmas. Indeed. A cigarette card sometimes sells near 200 USD, and mine are VERY nice. Far enough to make a box look nicer
  19. Nope... I have 2 GMT myself and I ordered some. I should have it by Christmas.
  20. Hi Blue, Thanks for the kind words. I'd gladly give you two 1016 cigarette cards for the two 1016 cases I did for you! Just PM me.
  21. The original hole is very small. The center of the new hole is just on the inner edge of the old hole... Tricky. Case has to be held super steady
  22. Actually, it is more of an eye trick... When you place a bracelet endlink you can hardly see the difference. The 1600 is much slimmer and rather pointy. Shortening the lugs a bit creates a look very similar to the 1016 in my opinion. At least much closer than a 1600 unmodified.
  23. Yes, as soon as the sales section is back. I actually sold some already.... They are going quite fast. I'm surprised! The COSC cerificates are almost all gone.
  24. I for one have always seeked for the full set look. How better do our vintage Rollies look than surrounded by an original box and all the ephemera that came with it when new?
