  1. Oh, I forgot to say : it's cheap ! Not perfect, but for the price I won't complain. About 100 USD/ case. That should make a complete head near 300 to 350 USD !
  2. I found a maker who accepted to make a few 1019 casets.... It doesn't have the double shell, but outside looks is pretty nice ! Don't look at the dial and hands, I'll take care of this later. Watch out, I'll keep a few for me and sell the others.... Most are already pre-sold to friends, but there might be 2 or 3 left.... Let me know your thoughts ! Attached is a picture of the prototype I approved. All handmade in India. Dia is 37mm +/- and takes a 29mm dial. Next step is to get some nice dials and hands !
  3. The bracelet is made of 2 different cartel reps, with WSO enlinks (modified of course for a perfect fit) Aside from the lack of date on the upper clasp blade, it is near flawless
  4. The straight hand is homemade : pinion is from the original hand supplied on the rep, and the hand part comes from a watch parts dealer in Paris. I had to buy 15 pcs by the way.... If anyone wants one, let me know ! They are gold tone.
  5. Thanks my friend ! I still have one of your DWO left, and I'm saving it for a DRSD.... I have sanded them and made a correct sunburst brushed finish before coating them with 4 layers of matte varnish. It's not that hard to do and it changes a lot !
  6. Ha !!! I did it ! A '59 sub with SCG ! Like many of these non SCOC babes, the original gilt gloss dial was changed in the 70's by a modern 5513, along with the bezel. So was the gen I based my watch on..... This was my last Vietnam case set (same mid case as the one I sold two weeks ago on the sales area). Dial origin is unknown, but the quality is great. Inside runs a gen 1520, Yuki hands, gen SB, DW 700, DW insert and SK T19.
  7. Yeah, but it's also a pain as only when you load and look at the pics will you see flaws you actually did not notice in real life ! It's the game ! When you've seen those, you have no choice but to re-dismantle the watch and rework what has to be done !
  8. Almost done !!! My 1655, ready to show. I still have to tune up that sec hand as it's too long, and source a better thinner GMT, but overall, it's not bad now is it? Cartel case, SK crystal, gen crown, PolexPete DWO, Ingod dial and custom hands. ETA modified so the GMT hand is not adjustable anymore, as per gen. Basically no part has been used as is. The dial has been relumed and revarnished, the DWO has been slimmed and correctly brush finished, the midcase, bezel and back case all undergone deep modifications. Back case thinnered as dome was too high, mid case thinnered as well, CG modded to match the dial, and bezel rebrushed for a more gen like aspect.
  9. This post is better than many books.... I keep on noticing new details on watches I thought I knew well enough !
  10. Well done. Great Sigma !!!!
  11. I think he meant what kind of rep, right? Model is a 90's 18038, but that's no surprise....
  12. That's the thing with vintage rollies, oddities are such you sometimes loose your mind ! Nothing is definite, and no inventory is complete......
  13. Many of us have seen again and again that article on TZ, but for those who didn't : this is a must see to watch and learn all those details we seldom clearly see. Look at the condition of those watches too !!!! No need to beat up your watches to make them credible ! Old does not mean damaged.... http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=msg&goto=3578081&rid=10338
  14. Looks like a 15 years old Monarch Polfy rep.... If it has a clean swiss ETA, 200 euros tops.
  15. Definitly !!! Those are totally different philosophies ! You can't put up 90% gen parts builds vs 90% aftermarket parts builds.... I say, there should be categories. There are very nice all rep builds here, that took lots of skills to realize : but they can't stand vs the superfrankens. I for one, will put up a watch per category if rules are being set up.
  16. Wow, that's getting serious !!! I'm starting to regret to put up that nice yet simple 1016 on the table.... It can't stand vs the gens !!!! Can a restored gen be considered a build? Afterall, what will we be judging here? Skills in "restauring" a watch weather the parts are gen or not?
  17. That's all? I'm surprised such a forum has so little to show........ That's an opportunity to see all the best builds in one post !
  18. Yes I did. I modified a Clarks as no aftermarket had the look of the crystals I could see on gens....
  19. I can't say I have a favorite as I love all my 17 vintage rollies, but I'll put my 1016 on the table as the case reshaping job was not an easy task..... And rather exciting to do ! See all pics and specs here : http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/169685-rolex-1016-built-mod-a-jmb-case-to-gen-specs-lots-of-pics/?hl=%2Brolojack+%2B1016#entry1333458
  20. Very nice indeed !!!! Great job and amazing pictures !
  21. I have some for sale if you need..... I had them made in brass to fit ETAs in gen specs case like the 1680 case I last used...
  22. Honestly, I'd say it's about the same.... No mate !!!!! Fully engraved with correct serial of a gen red 1680 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. It's a standard replacement brand. I've been told Rolex actually uses them !
