  1. I actually bought that case in Thailand, in Chatuchak, and the seller told me it was made in vietnam..... I have one more like this ! And of course, I'm making an other 1680.....
  2. Closed. It looks great ! I have the open nos on my other on going 1680....
  3. An other project I completed this summer. For those who remember this 1680, it used to be fitted in a pretty poor mid case.... Now, it is all correct !!! Vietnam mid case and bezel, DW caseback, PT 702, PT dial, DW DWO, Cartel links, Gen clasp, Verlux crystal, gen ETA slow beat, PT dial.
  4. It obviously did ! and the stock bracelet with it was very good : I used it on a 1680. As you may know, there are no factories manufacturing complete watches : just order the different parts from different makers, and assemble them. Just like most manufacturers of complex product from cars to electronics ! So I believe the case maker simply sold a batch to someone else.....
  5. It's still a bit thick, but better than the average. I rather have too thick but good lengh than otherwise !
  6. Not yet done as I will dismantle it to perfect the polishing and change the crystal, but almost !
  7. Unfortunately not.... The only decent rep dials at affordable prices are the cartel made for ST19 mvt.....
  8. Is this a v7753 dial? I can't see it from my computer..... Could you post a picture? Thanks !!!
  9. I'm really flattered by all the nice comments !!!!! Thank you guys !!!
  10. Thank you for the link, there are very interesting versions we seldom see ! Interesting to see the explorer I type coronet on that 3,6,9 dial rather than the larger crown like all the other versions ! If I am right, there are more 3,6,9 5513s. They were retailed in the UK only I have been told.
  11. Thanks ! I actually want to redo this one one day as I did the lume dots too large... And I know that will bother me at some point !
  12. One more DW 7753 dial modified here.... Nothing much done on the case except a slight reshaping and a 702 installed. All the work done is on the dial really ! I still need to change that ugly crystal and fit a beveled one and I'll be done ! That is the real problem with DW based Daytonas : they are too cheap !!!! So you won't stop till you have them all !!! By the way, this dial too I got it thanks to Davids100... I can't thank you enough mate !
  13. Coming from you I really appreciate ! Your work on the Peruvian army model is truly exceptionnal ! One of the few I truly look up to. Not to mention your breath taking pictures !
  14. May be the first rep bezel to be done that way I believe !!! For the case back also. I already have so many mirror polished and satin brushed casebacks, When I saw a picture of a 6239 with that finish I knew that would be my next finsh !!!
  15. First of all about that build : A BIG THANKS TO DAVIDS100 WHO HELPED ME TO GET THAT DIAL !!!!!! Without you my friend, that case would still be sitting in a box !!!! We all find DW standard dials plates have a major issue : the position of the index too far inside touching the subdials... Well, why not simply move them ? I did it here, and it looks much better !!!! Simply chop the feet, polish the base of the index and carefully glue them at a better position ! Aside from that, I modified that case to a tonneau shape, with the sunburst finished 300 bezel and the round brushed back case often made by some Rolex USA service centers since the watch is fitted with a Rolex USA bracelet.
  16. It took me a while to complete it, but it is now done !!!! My pointed crown guard Sub with 3,6,9 gilt dial !!!! Specs : Bezel & Insert sourced in Thailand Cartel Polex mid case slimmed from the top to lower the bezel sitting and have the crown appear higher. Welded on the crown side to create enough metal to carve an accurate crown guard. Then, totally reshaped all around. DW caseback Cartel bracelet links and end links Gen deployment Cartel PT 702 crown modified to 700 Clarks crystal Dial & Hands from Yuki Now to the pics :
  17. Dial remains the same, it's the best black 6238 dial I have ever seen, despite the lower subdial position.... I am focusing on the mid case only here.
  18. Some pics of the works on going..... The case upper part is totally returned to fit perfectly DW rehaut. Narrowing the step was not enough : the step also had to be lowered. The pushers sittings were welded, but to preserve the 2mm inner hole, an aluminum wire was placed as SS won't stick to it as aluminum melts at a much higher temperature..... So, no wrongly axed redrilling to fear here ! Next step is drilling the sittings for the pushers at the correct dia and depth.....
