Hi all, My latest DW Daytona hour totalizer hand appears to be frozen... I dismantled the watch for a quick overall check, but I did not see anything abnormal at first glance. This is a first for me : the usual issue with that subdial is the wandering hand problem. But the frozen hand thing is new to me... Does anyone have a suggestion for me here? I'm a bit lost.... Thank you !!!

Very nice watch !!! Looks like David really improved.

If you are right, that could mean this respected dealer is either naive or dishonest.... Scary! -
Rolex 6239 PN dial... Questionable authenticity?

Yes Freddy, of course. I meant that the watch is legitimately sellable on the open market if described properly.... The seller can of course ask for any price : he just won't sell it if it doesn't reflect the reality of the market. There is hope for 50 k with a PN, but not much with a standard dial... -
Rolex 6239 PN dial... Questionable authenticity?

Yes, as I said earlier, the watch is undoubtly gen : case and movement. Only the dial is fake. That makes it a 20 to 25 k watch intead of a 50 k watch. Quite a difference indeed, but still legit on the market if priced fairly with a gen sigma dial on the side.... -
Rolex 6239 PN dial... Questionable authenticity?

Ah, I'm not crazy then !!!! If it isn't genuine someone will soon be sued under civil law.... -
Here it is on the Bay now, offered by a long time trusted seller we all know.... But somehow this dial looks odd to me. Deep subdials grooving, lack of texture, size and font of the RC, design of the "3" in the subdials, "swiss" font, etc.... What do you think? Watch is gen, no question about that : It's the dial that bugs me. http://www.ebay.com/...=item53ed719546

Nope, sorry. And the only good ones are out of stock for a while now.... They produced a few only, so keep your eyes open on the sales post !!!

Rolex Daytona 62xx subdial spacing DW vs. Gen
rolojack replied to rolojack's topic in The Rolex Area
Well, DW new production is way better than the one Akira showed us. Better stay away from sunburst finishes and silver dials : it can never match the gens... Too many variations possible with silver tone, and too hard to recreate the soft texture of the rolex sunburt finishes. Somes have done it before, but it is seldom to see a really convincing example. So black is the way !!! 6238 type dials, and of course PNs. I am having David working on a new design now... The production will be ready in two weeks or so. -
Good fit, even if the cartel lugs are more rounded : so the endlink shape is more rounded as well vs the DW.

Rolex Daytona 62xx subdial spacing DW vs. Gen
rolojack replied to rolojack's topic in The Rolex Area
Sigma dials are a no go for me, unless they are monochromatic (albino or all black). Too obvious. The PN are the safer designs, even with the outertrack issue. -
I'll ask for this too. Send me PMs with pictures AND PRICES. Once I have enough stuff to buy, I'll treat my dealer for lunch and place a large order !
-
I can always ask... Usually what I do to get spares is buy a damaged watch from the sellers at a great bargain...

Rolex Daytona 62xx subdial spacing DW vs. Gen

It's actually nice too really see what the diff is... Otherwise your imagination goes wild imagining huge differences everyone sees but you !!! -
Hi all, what do you think of that built? I still have to change the case -this one started as a cartel case, I'll have a fully engraved one soon- and the crown and I'll be done with it ! I'll put up for sale that case in december. If someone needs it just PM me. BTW, I'm back in China... If anyone needs some cartel watch parts or discontinued models : let me know !!! Mabye can I help.
-
Great picture -the second one-, really !!!! FYI all : the cartel 571 end links are slightly too large to fit a DW case. You'll need to mod them, but it's worth it as the stamping is really awesome.

Looks gen to me too....

Remember the old cheap fakes some 20 years ago? They were all made of chrome plated bronze, as the machinery factories had back then could not work on SS because it is way too hard, when bronze is soft and allows to easely do all sort of shapes... The first all SS reps were a revolution, even if they were only made of rusty 200 grade !!! And now we want the bronze back... For sure the rep makers will manufacture it in bronze some day : the only question is what quality will they use? Bronze is a wild world, and as all composite metals, it can be great or terrible. From a toxic breakable uneven (density differences from one area of the case to an other, with possible cracks or bubbles) metal that will tarnish in no time to a healthy mix like then gen. Wait and see, but I for one won't get the first series that comes out, as I fear the cheap metal plated with something better... Just like those cheap viet 9K cases plated with good 18k. Once you polish the watch : surprise !!! Uneven color (from red to light yellow), cracks, etc...

True... But that can be corrected in the future. PN used to be quite far away from that quality not long ago ! Here is a clearer image : -
This is to answer the earlier post about the subdial spacing difference between v72 (gen or gen like) and v7750. It's too small to be seen at the first glance for most people, so here is an overlay of the v 72 and the v7750 for everyone to really see what difference there is. The v72 is genuine, the v7750 is Wong's new batch. Hope that helps !!!

Great !!!! It looks like I don't have to redo it after all.... Good job !
