  1. looks gen to me too.... If it's a rep, it's a 3000+ usd vietnam rep with gen movement and all...
  2. The cases I have modded so far never had the 18k stamp on the mid case, just the backcase. So, this means you had 3 types right? 18k stamped, the ones I used and your "enhanced" version. The one I can't use is the latest.
  3. Note this is only possible with your "old" version of caseset.... So please keep making them !
  4. Wow! Thanks so much for the kind words !!! I am glad you still appreciate the watch I built for you.
  5. Here is my latest 1016 built for a fellow member. Not final as it is lacking its caseback and the clasp, but aside from that.... Well: you guys can tell!
  6. Thanks for the kind words !!! I have a picture showing a few watches..... I have about 10 more vintage rollies. Some under construction, some complete. Some reps, some gens....
  7. I could't agree more. I actually picked his picture because the coronet shape is closer to HR coronet than the gen.... Problem with the coin edge bezel is it is near impossible to find a good one at a decent price.... Not talking about the insert. Since the 50's have seen many unexpected variations in terms of mix and match of parts from different models either at Rolex or from their retailers, the step I'm about to take is still rational. I think. Anyways, dial is on its way, and I'm still debating what case I should use.
  8. the 4 lines is because I just got a 4 line dial from dazza.... but I could erase some and just keep the "submariner" like earlier models...
  9. You got it wrong mate: I did the photoshop to see how an early sub looks like with a smooth bezel and I'm asking you guys if this looks interesting ! I'm thinking of using a JMB case and mod it to match the 6538 look, and fit in a HR dial.........
  10. You seldom use the hour counter, but the minute counter! Boy, you can't use the chrono without it! This is as much a chrono as a 21j Daytona... It hurts not to be able to buy such a beautiful rep.
  11. I don't see why you want to change your yuki dial... Creating a nice patina color and texture is possible and safer in terms of result. See my 1016!
  12. Thanks. It will be dismanteled soon as I am not happy with the dwo finish and the hands... I will see how a perfect gmt hand could be made.
  13. Lots of work ahead..... Welding the mid case to correct the pushers sitting as it is way too large now (or install early type screw down pushers to make a 6240), change the dial for a DW mystery, adapt a Watch NY or DW bezel to the case, fit a gen crown and a gen -or approaching- crystal, erase the phony 6263/65 ref and serial to engrave a more convincing serial and ref..... Thrilling ! If you intend to do it right, you'll learn a lot here!
  14. Still waiting.... I'm also considering making a 1019 out of JMB's DJ case....
  15. Yes, lots of milling.I was afraid I'd reach the engraving but I didn't.
  16. The sheen on the subdial is a dead give away. It is pretty hard to get rid of it. I used a mix of different acrylic clear coat to retexture it.
  17. gen coronet, relumed. Heavy texturing job to achieve the "plastered wall" effect.
  18. Actually, bracelet it is a gen Rolex UK bracelet made by WAB
  19. I wanted to share some pics of my 6241. I'm pretty sure the weathered rep afficionados will be able to say at once the specs, so I won't bother !
  20. Actually, I'm having trouble getting what I want from the maker...... At this point, I'm about to give up ! If I do, I'll get rid of the prototype pictured in this post, so watch out the sales area !!!!
  21. I am so glad my case ended up being used with so much taste and love !!!!!! I really wanted to make something special with it... But I did not have your dedication. It could not have ended up in better hands and I'm happy I sold it to you !
  22. I like to think so too. Aged but not damaged !!! Simply weathered by the UVs and handeling from past overhauls.... as any gen.
